I havent phoned up since yesterday when they offered me
I was offered a second line (18 months) with 150 minutes 500 txts and Unlimited Internet for
Free Nokia 5800
£15 first 3 months.
£20 next 12 months with a £50 credit.
£30 for the last 3 months.
£325 in total.
Still wondering what peoples opinions are on it.
I actually declined the offer but might phone up again sometime.0 -
Retention dept phoned with the usual flannel and they couldn't give me the following deal, they wanted £30 and without the credit, no chance I said as I wanted to reduce my monthly payment. I waited to receive my PAC in the post and called the number listed on the letter, the gentlemen couldn't have been more helpful and I got the Nokia 5800 with -
600 mins
Unlimited Texts
Unlimited Internet
£10 credit to my account (instead of a car charger which I wanted, seemingly they dont give them out now so was offered the £10 or a bluetooth headset)
on an 18 month upgrade for £24.47, will be £25 when VAT goes up got a better deal this time around (used to be £30 for 500 mins and unlimited texts)and now saving myself £5 per month which equates to £90 over the contract.
Got text confirmation today saying order placed and delivery will be sometime monday 9th.Cheers

Hi Guys,
I also work for Vodafone, The customer services lines. Just to let you know there is quite a long wait time at the moment to get through to us, I recommend you ring as early as possible as it gets a lot busier during the day. Anyone wanting the new Nokia 5800 I'd put off upgrading or ordering at the moment as we are out of stock and are waiting on back order for a lot of customers.
hope this helps

When's the best time to call Vodafone retentions ... my contract is up in late May ... I'm now eligible for an upgrade online (because it's within 90 days?)
Should I call up now / get my PAC code or am i better waiting until closer to / after the contract expiry ?0 -
you cant have your PAC code until you are within your last 30 days of the contract unless you pay your early temination amount, you can either upgrade now or wait for your PAC code.0

Phoned 8.30am... by 8.40 had the following deal (bear in mind I'm a very light user and won't actually use all these minutes and texts!).
100 mins, 50 texts, free 6500 or 6124, next day free delivery, 1 month free internet access (afterwards £5/month or PAYG), 1 month free insurance (but have to call to cancel), 15 month contract all for £9.77/month (£10 when VAT goes back to normal!)0 -
yup sounds good - I have a similar deal -same amound of mins/texts with a Samsung Steel (only a basic Samsung) - if you're a low user u can't go wrong - beware of the insurance though - it's difficult getting through on the 191 number to cancel - though u could always put it in writing0

I decided that the insurance wasn't worth it... I'm bound to forget, so it would end up costing me more. I've still got my old phone in reserve in case I have any problems!
With new phones costing £20 for basic models, I think that unless you have a specific need or are a gadget geek, insurance is a complete waste of money!0 -
Greenbee, while in some cases I agree with you that insurance is not worth it, say when its a low value handset that wouldnt cost the earth to replace but I think it IS worth it on high end handsets
Its not purely for the fact that the phone is expensive and costly to replace but more that if you lose or break it you are still paying the premium in terms of line rental to the provider as that is essentially how the phone is paid for.
I would personally be pretty annoyed if I was say paying £35+ a month for a contract and the phone was stolen and I had to go out and then pay as £30 for a new handset and STILL be paying £35 a month, in some cases I believe that insurance of some sort whether it be from the provider or bank or wheerever is worth it unless it involved paying towards the £10 a month mark, then it gets silly.0 -
I bargained them down to 200 mins 100 texts, free itemised billing for £8.50 a month (before VAT). But they wouldn't agree to give me the same deal for another contract I wanted to move over from 3 so don't know if I was lucky with my callcentre employee the first time around. Also only a 12month contract as I said I wouldn't agree to longer. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0
