Im after the Nokia 5800 on a 12 month contract. Have spoken to vodafone who im with and they are willing to do me a 12 month deal but the phone would cost me £100 on top of the monthly charge. I would cancel but hubby needs to keep his number has had it for ever and is self employed so uses it fro business. Seems vodafone have me over a barrel as i need to keep this number so will have to pay for the phone. I have 2 other contracts with vodafone and have been with them forever so am really peeved that they are not willing to keep a loyal customer. Might have to talk to hubby into getting a new number:eek:

Ask for your PAC and you can take your number to another network.

Yip, that was what I was going to say. the process is really easy and it actually helps when people do go to another network. makes them try harder

what is your standard tariff at the moment?

i know if you take the phone and then say you want to return it they will reduce the £100 not sure how much though
  • Have asked for my pac code and they keep stalling on it.

Have said i want to cancel and they have given me details to cancel. Trouble is vodafone is the only supply that gives a good reception where we are, so it feels like they know this and are holding me over a barrel.

Think ill send in my cancellation see if that wakes them up a bit.

    hi,
like the others have said, dont ask for a cancellation but ask for ur PAC. that way you can retain your number and take it with you. once you have your PAC you get 30 days to use it, but you dont have to use it if you havnt found anything suitable in the time frame. If you dont use it then everything carries on with voda like you were before.

by requesting a cancellation you will loose the number once the 30 days notice expires, not good if you use it as business.

sorry to repeat info that folks generally know already, but seemed like poster didnt know how this works. hope that makes more sense now.

I have just called Vodafone to get a deal on my renewal and it was a little different to the last time I did it, was also a bit aprehensive because of what you said, however I just called 191 on my mobile and went through to option 3 (upgrades or looking to leave) then chose the option to speak to someone about leaving. That got me through to the cancellations department straight away. Told them I wanted to leave and he said I needed to write a letter and proceeded to give me the address, was ready to end the call and didnt offer anything to keep me..... BUT I then explained why I wanted to leave as I had been offered a better deal with O2 and he asked what I wanted. I was on a £15.00pm deal for 100 minutes and 100txts, plus £7.50 extra for unlimited internet.
He offered me two deals (without any hesitation), including a free Nokia 5800 (the phone I wanted) both on 18month deals, I went for the second deal as I dont call as much as txt

    250 anytime mins
    100 txts
    or
    150 anytime mins
    500 txts

Both for the same £15 pm, plus he reduced the additional internet deal to £5 extra.

I asked how come, he explained they were both supposed to be £25 deals but they were trying to retain customers and as I had come through to the cancellations department they were able to offer much better deals. So, thats what you need to do, dial 191 from your mobile, follow the menus through to cancellations then they should be able to sort you out. I'm not sure why he was happy to let me leave if it was so easy for him to offer a great deal, but never mind, I got what I wanted and im happy :T

Hi is this a 12 month contract?
The best vodafone are offering me is the 5800 on 12m at 25 pounds which is a joke! I can get the same phone if i upgrade online at 20 pounds for 12 months. I am currently on the 40 pound tarrif - how can i get the 5800 on 12months at 15 pounds?
  • Oh i didnt know that.

    I will give that a go thanks:j

Hi, my partner is due for an upgrade and has been offered the Nokia 5800 or Samsung Tocco free of charge or £70.00 for the Omnia.

His contract is - 600 mins, unlimited text £20.00 for 17 months and £25.00 for the final month.

Is it worth paying the extra for the Omnia and if not which of the other 2 phones is the better one.

    Thanks a lot.

Hi I posted this the other day - can anyone tell me what you think of the deal.

    Thanks

i think if you ask nicely enough i think you should be able to get the omnia for free if you are happy with the the rest of the deal. the deal seems quite reasonable to me (though i am not as cheeky as some folks on here ;)).

i'd personally go for the omnia over the 5800 or tocco, though some folks do like the 5800 (personally im sick of symbain and much prefer windows mobile)
