Vodafone Retention Deals

Does anyone know if it's better to negotiate on the phone or in a shop in person? I am almost off mine, always go for 12 months I have 500 anytime mins and 200 texts - should be £35 but I always go over and bills vary from £75 to £150 per month. Help please?
On the phone will always be better - they have the authority and are able to see your records.
Please don't jump at the first deal you're offered - you're an ideal customer for them - let them work to keep you. Just made sure that the deal offered will cover all the mins/texts you need - at present you're paying way over the odds for the extra mins/texts.0 -
Vodafone are really looking to retain existing customer's in the new FY as apposed to attempting to acquire new ones. Definitely try and negotiate a better deal than those already offered to you, especially if you know what the competitors are offering. Same goes with the the upgraded handsets though there isn't always asmuch flexibility with those.Fell off wagon but now had another LBM. Debt 04/01/11 £9461
CC1 - £6413, CC2 - £2800, Next - £248.980 -
i have been offered the Blackberry 8900 with 900 mins, 500 texts, unlimited landline, mobile internet and bb email for £40 a month.....asked for a bit more off but was told thats the best they can do. My bills average £90 a month.
Is this a good deal? Has anyone got anything better?0 -
Just an update to the post i made yesterday.
I waited for the call from Vodafone last night for 2 hours but no one called. I knew it straight away that the stupid guy had put an upgrade through on my account without me agreeing to it.
I got a text yesterday from Vodafone saying that i would get a call from an 0800 number to give me my pac code, and also recieved the exact same text message this morning too. Instead of waiting all day for them to call me, i phoned up and politely asked for my pac code. The guy who i spoke to kindly supplied it and then said why do you need the pac code if you have upgraded?
I was like !!!!!!! the guy said yes you upgraded yesterday afternoon and your new handset is on its way to you. I then asked the guy for more information on the upgrade and he told me it was a new 18 month contract with 600 mins and unmilited text with a Samsung Tocco phone for £35 per month.
When he told me that, I didnt know whether to laugh or swear at the guy who put it through.
I certainly didnt agree to that or any upgrade as a matter of fact, i was meant to be called back later in the evening so i could decide what option to go for. There was no conversation regarding a Samsung phone! I wanted the Nokia 5800.
Also im not stupid enough to sign up to that tarrif - £35 per month for 18 months, you must be having a laugh. That tarrif includes no internet or any discounts at all.
I have been told that i now have to wait for the handset to arrive and then call back to either return or to change the deal.
I dont know if i want to stay with Vodafone anymore after that, i had a feeling that this was going to happen.
Good job i called them myself today otherwise i would have been waiting all day for them to call me with my pac and i would have had a nice surprise when i got home and saw a Samsung Tocco sitting there for me.
Not very happy at all
Cant you refuse delivery so the phone gets bounced back anyway0 -
I have just cancelled ( by e.mailing) a contract that I hold within a business plan ( 4 phones) because I wanted to use the due upgrade for same terms - 18 mth 600 mins/unltd txts with a new nokia 5800. This deal is available for new personal customers & new business. They wanted to charge £117 for the upgrade on handset
Always used to be able to say you wanted to cancel then go thru to cancel dept where they would then grant you the deal so as not to loose business but seems the system no longer works that way hence the e.mail.
Is there another way around it? Have said will take other contracts away as they come up for renewal in a few months time but they just couldnt care less, & have been with them for around 7 years. Shameless.0 -

I have just called Vodafone to get a deal on my renewal and it was a little different to the last time I did it, was also a bit aprehensive because of what you said, however I just called 191 on my mobile and went through to option 3 (upgrades or looking to leave) then chose the option to speak to someone about leaving. That got me through to the cancellations department straight away. Told them I wanted to leave and he said I needed to write a letter and proceeded to give me the address, was ready to end the call and didnt offer anything to keep me..... BUT I then explained why I wanted to leave as I had been offered a better deal with O2 and he asked what I wanted. I was on a £15.00pm deal for 100 minutes and 100txts, plus £7.50 extra for unlimited internet.
He offered me two deals (without any hesitation), including a free Nokia 5800 (the phone I wanted) both on 18month deals, I went for the second deal as I dont call as much as txt
250 anytime mins
100 txts
or
150 anytime mins
500 txts
Both for the same £15 pm, plus he reduced the additional internet deal to £5 extra.
I asked how come, he explained they were both supposed to be £25 deals but they were trying to retain customers and as I had come through to the cancellations department they were able to offer much better deals. So, thats what you need to do, dial 191 from your mobile, follow the menus through to cancellations then they should be able to sort you out. I'm not sure why he was happy to let me leave if it was so easy for him to offer a great deal, but never mind, I got what I wanted and im happy :T0 -

Hi, my partner is due for an upgrade and has been offered the Nokia 5800 or Samsung Tocco free of charge or £70.00 for the Omnia.
His contract is - 600 mins, unlimited text £20.00 for 17 months and £25.00 for the final month.
Is it worth paying the extra for the Omnia and if not which of the other 2 phones is the better one.
Thanks a lot.0 -
Im after the Nokia 5800 on a 12 month contract. Have spoken to vodafone who im with and they are willing to do me a 12 month deal but the phone would cost me £100 on top of the monthly charge. I would cancel but hubby needs to keep his number has had it for ever and is self employed so uses it fro business. Seems vodafone have me over a barrel as i need to keep this number so will have to pay for the phone. I have 2 other contracts with vodafone and have been with them forever so am really peeved that they are not willing to keep a loyal customer. Might have to talk to hubby into getting a new number:eek:0
