I've just come off the phoen to Voda.
Best they could offer me was the 5800 on 12 month contract for £24.47 with 600 mins and unltd texts.
I've ditched the handset option and just gone with 600 mins, unltd texts for 12 months for £12.47
Got a call from them today and was offered the exact same but the first deal is only available on an 18 month contract. The guy said that they dont give 12 month contracts with handsets.
Will be getting a call back later, and need to decide what to do.
Are they likely to offer anything better?
I would be happy to get the 5800 with 600 mins, unlimited texts, and internet on an 18 month contract for £20 - £25 per month, but they dont seem to be able to give it, even though some others who have posted on here have manged to get it.
Is it only the customers who go over their allowances and have a high bill get better deals?:cool:0 -

Hi. I was speaking to vodafone retentions today and managed to negotiate the following deal:
FREE Nokia 5800
12 Month Contract
150 Minutes
500 Texts
FREE Unlimited Internet
All for £25/Month
Very pleased with that. They also said I could upgrade in 9 months :jOctober Comp Wins -Stella Artois Challice (FB)0 -
Thats not a bad deal, considering they offered you the handset for free and its only a 12 month contract.
The only problem for me is that its not enough minutes and i would probably find myself going over my allowance every month hence having to pay more than £25 every month.:cool:0 -

TBH, it sounded like they're very open to negotiation at the moment. Everything I bartered for, I pretty much got. The original deal was arranged yesterday which was: £20/month for 50 minutes and 150 texts with no internet. He rang up today to confirm my contract and that the phones were now in stock, so I said can i negotiate on yesterdays deal. He said what would you like? So I said, if I pay the extra £5 for unlimited internet usage will you give me more minutes and texts. He went to speak to a supervisor, 20 secs later he said he'd put me on the £30 tariff, but for £25 with internet. I said spot on, very nice chap indeed! Can also get a new phone in 9 months if I wish.October Comp Wins -Stella Artois Challice (FB)0 -
Managed to get a great deal from them:
- 600mins
- Unlimited texts
- £12.23 per month (£24.47 discounted 50%)
- 12 month deal
What a good deal. Oh is 600 mins anytime anynetwork.
Thinking of phoning I am currently on 600 evening and weekend calls, 50 text for £12.99. Want a better deal where I can use the phone during the day. Not bothered about a new phone but would be nice. Not upgraded since 2005 I think or possibly longer. Currently have sony k750.0 -
The 600 mins i was offered is any time and any network.:cool:0

JUst to make you aware. On these deals where your are paying around £12.50, its due to 50% off discount.
I called up in the week to ask how much to buy my contract out and leave taking my number with me thinking they'd calculate it at £12.50 x number of months left. However they charge is at the full £25 x number of months left.
I only want to leave to join 02 for the iphone and the free wireless access points they have.
Probably not relevant to you guys, but worth mentioning.0 -
Just an update to the post i made yesterday.
I waited for the call from Vodafone last night for 2 hours but no one called. I knew it straight away that the stupid guy had put an upgrade through on my account without me agreeing to it.
I got a text yesterday from Vodafone saying that i would get a call from an 0800 number to give me my pac code, and also recieved the exact same text message this morning too. Instead of waiting all day for them to call me, i phoned up and politely asked for my pac code. The guy who i spoke to kindly supplied it and then said why do you need the pac code if you have upgraded?
I was like !!!!!!! the guy said yes you upgraded yesterday afternoon and your new handset is on its way to you. I then asked the guy for more information on the upgrade and he told me it was a new 18 month contract with 600 mins and unmilited text with a Samsung Tocco phone for £35 per month.
When he told me that, I didnt know whether to laugh or swear at the guy who put it through.
I certainly didnt agree to that or any upgrade as a matter of fact, i was meant to be called back later in the evening so i could decide what option to go for. There was no conversation regarding a Samsung phone! I wanted the Nokia 5800.
Also im not stupid enough to sign up to that tarrif - £35 per month for 18 months, you must be having a laugh. That tarrif includes no internet or any discounts at all.
I have been told that i now have to wait for the handset to arrive and then call back to either return or to change the deal.
I dont know if i want to stay with Vodafone anymore after that, i had a feeling that this was going to happen.
Good job i called them myself today otherwise i would have been waiting all day for them to call me with my pac and i would have had a nice surprise when i got home and saw a Samsung Tocco sitting there for me.
Not very happy at all :cool:0 -
Does anyone know if it's better to negotiate on the phone or in a shop in person? I am almost off mine, always go for 12 months I have 500 anytime mins and 200 texts - should be £35 but I always go over and bills vary from £75 to £150 per month. Help please?0
