  • Dark and gales this morning. The dog has been out in the garden barking at the patio furniture which has blown all over the place. Have fed her and I am now in bed with a cup of tea. Later I will walk her, then I am working in the office again today. I am so tired. Roll on the weekend.

No nearer to buying the house. The sellers solicitor is now making vague reference to them moving into their caravan mid February. Why can’t we exchange? My solicitor has gone back to them yet again. The Estate Agent is useless. They are saying they cannot get a reply from the sellers solicitor ☹️ Beginning to lose confidence in the purchase. It will be just my luck for these gales to have blown their bl**dy caravan away!

  • Good grief, what on earth are they playing at!

    Nearly the weekend.
Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.
  • It’s a dark wet morning with gusty winds again. The dog was fed earlier and I will take her for a walk around 9am.

I spent £21.67 this week on fruit and veg, chicken thighs, bacon and eggs, tinned fruit, crumpets and hot chocolate, peach squash and microwave rice x 2.

    Meal plan for this week

    breakfast - crumpets or mini
    wheat & raisin cereal

    Lunches -
3 x Office day lunches - bacon roll or egg mayo roll, cup a soup, grapes.
Home lunches x 3 will be scrambled egg or any leftover lamb & veg with noodles & soy sauce, cup a soup or anything else I can use up.

    Dinners -
Roast lamb, roast potatoes and parsnips, broccoli & cauliflower & gravy. I still have the leg of lamb bought half price in mr T before Christmas so I will take that out of the freezer to defrost & make Sunday roast dinner and several roast dinners for the freezer.

Any leftover lamb will be made into a curry with a jar of rogan josh sauce & any leftover veg.

Tandoori chicken thigh tray bake with roasted peppers, courgettes, onions, mushrooms & micro rice. Should be enough for dinner tonight and a couple of meals for the freezer.

  • Car breakdown renewal due was £67.20 last year, increased to £89.60 !! No claims made.

Flag of green online shows 40% off so I did a quote which came to £68.32. I phoned them about the renewal price they had given me and they matched their own online quote. 🤗

Good grief that's a big increase, well done getting a reduction.

  • Went out for dinner last night with a friend and a 50% off voucher. Food was lovely but the huge restaurant was freezing cold. We ate quickly wearing our coats and left. We asked if the heating was on and were told it was, but all the radiators were cold. I’ve sent an email to complain. It was not enjoyable. Total spend £11.30.

I ordered some cards from a website someone recommended on another thread. 12 cards for the price of 10 plus a tin to keep them in. I registered for their newsletter and got a free card and 20% off. Total including postage £13.38. Cards were approx 66p each.

Lots of ice this morning. I had almost run out of de-icer. Called off at morresons on my way home from work and bought a can £3!! Since when did it become so expensive!!

  • Brilliant news. Must be such a relief xx
slowly working towards being MF one small over payment at a time :T
  • Thanks MF and @southern_chick
It was such a relief I would have cried if I had the time 😂

My solicitor called me Friday morning and confirmed we were finally ready to exchange. I rushed to get a quote for house insurance on the new place online then phoned the insurance company to start the cover immediately total cost £256.48. I have to complete and move in within 60 days. Completion is due mid feb.

My last full wage will be end of Jan. I will then transfer my 5% account regular saver into long term savings and cancel the standing order / close the 5% account. I will need to put about 50k into a 2 or 3 year fix account and keep the rest in an instant access account for work on the house / living off.

The news spread round the office even though I was working from home and I started getting messages from colleagues. It was difficult to work until 6pm. I was also messaging my family and friends. Finally finished my shift, took the dog for a quick walk and then went to the pub with my no-dogs friend 😁
