  • Did your surveyor give any indication about the value of the property?  Usually they say it's worth £x in it's current condition or your offer is reasonable.

If the valuation is less than the offer, buyer tells seller, says about quotes and tries for 100%, but would be happy to settle for 50%.

If the property was valued the same as the offer, it's harder to negotiate.

I can't remember if it had been on the market a while before you offered or if you snapped it up quickly. One thing you need to consider is the risk of annoying the seller and losing the property over a couple of grand.

Doesn't help you much does it! I'll blame the rain and a headache too for jumbled reply.

  • I didn’t have a valuation. I will ask for half.

  • Half sounds fair.
    Enjoy your cheeky OAP F&C!

  • I know I did feel a bit cheeky but thankfully the delivery driver didn’t ask for my pension book 😆 and normal F&C with delivery was £14

All paperwork from sellers has now arrived with my solicitor. I have asked EA for price reduction & gas certificate. I am waiting for part of searches to come back to my solicitor but all paperwork that has come back so far looks ok & no nasty surprises on the searches.

Petrol light came on when I drove home from work today. Working from home tomorrow & not planning to go anywhere this weekend so I will put petrol in on Monday.

  • Not surprised you went for the cheeky option seeing the full price 😯 it's £8.50 for a fish supper at mine (2 large pieces of fish and a poke of chips).

All sounding very promising with the house!

  • It’s very dark and cold this morning. I fed the dog earlier and will get up again soon to take her for a walk.

Later I need to walk to the chemist to collect my prescription and pick up some milk from the local co op. I start work this afternoon.

  • Thank goodness it’s the weekend!

Saturday was mostly a rest day. No dog walks as DS & gf have gone away for the weekend with PD. I cleaned the bathroom and unloaded then reloaded the dishwasher. Had a snooze. Hung out washing which mostly dried outside.

Today I am hoping to make some progress on packing. There is so much still to sort. I have done the kitchen and should be able to finish the living room.

  • Feeling very low today. Not sure why. I’ve just had a hot chocolate and cleaned the kitchen. I am going to have crumpets with butter for brunch. Bought them as a treat on Friday. Hot chocolate was on offer at half price. I also got 2 ready meals reduced to clear. Shepherds pie and sausage with mash both £1.24. I have lost my cooking mo-jo. I put them both in the freezer for quick meals in the week after working in the office.

Today I have taken the remaining chicken breasts out of the freezer and will cut them into strips with scissors and fry with remaining courgettes and peppers & frozen sweetcorn and a packet of fajita mix from my store cupboard. I have a pack of wraps left so I will use some of those & freeze the rest. There should be enough for at least 2 more meals during the week.

I couldn’t get any peach squash but I did manage to get apple & mango squash £2. I cannot have citrus fruit & it is more expensive but I saved on petrol by walking to local store, so not too bad.

  • Can you tackle one thing / area at a time? Eg go round and sort / pack all the ornaments, next do books etc that's the way I've done it.

As much as it's only kicking the can down the road, just pack everything and declutter when you've move. You'll have more time and your unwanted items may help others in your new area. It will cut down stress and time for this side.

  • Thanks MF. To be honest I find it easier room by room. I label the boxes by which room they are from so they can be put in each relevant room in the new house. I don’t have ornaments but I do have family photos in frames in the living room. Books are currently on shelves in my bedroom but are going in the living room at the new house as there are shelves to fill.

I am counting down to work holidays. 2 more weeks then 2 weeks off. Then I am back to work for a few days then off for another week over Christmas. I am hoping to hand in my notice in the new year after I have taken the holidays which I will probably have to pay back 😆

I have my car booked in for mot next week. The garage is only a 10 minute walk from home so I will drop it off on the morning before work, then pick it up after work.
