  • Had a lovely day out yesterday with friends. Bus return ticket to train station £3.70. Train £9.60. Lunch wrap, chips & drink £8.50 in the pub. Later we had tea and cake £6.60. Xmas pressie for niece £6.30.

Today I have walked the dog in the rain and I have a stew in the slow cooker. Later I will cook a roast chicken dinner with leftovers & the stew to freeze for quick meals during the week. It’s still very mild here in the south so no heating on so far. I need to start transferring bills to DF & gf next week.

  • Sounds like it was a lovely day!
    Meals are yummy, as always.
Bet it felt odd writing about paying DS and GF, but hopefully you'll be moving soon.

That looks fine to me, have you added insurance and dentist? I typed this yesterday but forgot to press click.

Glad you went out. I think the stress is going so glad you are escaping.
Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • Thanks SW. The annual bills £100 per month also includes insurances as listed and the dentist which I forgot to list. Fortunately I get eye tests free and cheap glasses online 🤓

Survey has been completed and there are a few things come up. Nothing I am overly worried about. My DF is going to arrange some quotes. I have paid for no cost solicitor insurance & mining report. Once that is back full searches can be done. Am exhausted.

Sounds promising if you're not listing concerns and getting quotes. It's probably a lot easier having DFs support, doing some of the chasing and organising too.

Give it a few weeks to settle back in to work, it's not forever, make sure you're getting plenty of rest outside of it.

  • We have had gales all night but the wind seems to have dropped off a bit now. The garden furniture has blown all over the place.

I am supposed to be meeting up with a friend this afternoon. I also need to phone the EA & the GP surgery. Might try and fit those calls into my breaks.

  • Had a nice lunch and a good chat with my friend today. Chicken wrap, salad, chips & drink £7.49. Tea and cake £3.49 🤦‍♀️

Last month the gas & electric direct debit was reduced to £58. This month it is back up to £124. There is a credit of £380. I must ring them and either change the name on the account or close it & get DS and his gf to open their own account.

    Bills to change
    Council tax
    Gas & electric
    Water supply
    Water waste

I am still paying VM but once I move if the house goes through up north there is no VM supply. I will have to pay a disconnection fee max £288 but this can be refunded if I provide proof within 30 days of the new address outside their supply area

With VM DS and GF can take over the account too and have your name removed, but there may be better offers as new customers.

You'll only be able to do the transfers if one / both of them are with you and agree to it, or they call afterwards. Some of the water companies do wh-ts-pp chats, which makes it a lot easier to go about your day while waiting a text back.

    Food sounded great.

  • Thanks MF. They just want broadband not tv and landline and they are looking at deals. I will probably cancel it when I move.

Today I managed to phone my GP surgery and the chemist for repeat meds. If I make a list and set a reminder on my phone I can get a few things done each day. I slept most of the afternoon 😴

DF phoned round and several companies are giving timescales of 8-12 weeks just for a quote. However if you pay for a “report” they will come out next week 🙁 So I am paying £100 and £150 for a written quote / “report” to back up the survey I have already paid for. Hopefully I will be able to get something knocked off the asking price. I’m glad DF is sorting this for me as I can’t cope with it at the moment.

It’s still dark at the moment but is supposed to brighten up later so I am planning on getting some washing on and hung out. No heating on yet but it is definitely getting cooler in the evenings. So far a throw over me on the sofa is enough and I still have a summer quilt on my bed.

I have fed the dog and I am back in bed with a cup of tea. Later I will walk her. Then I want to sort the hat/gloves/scarves basket so they are ready to use. Last few mornings have been chilly for
dog walks. I have my thermals ready for when it gets colder 🥶

    Things to do today
    -washing
    -sort hats gloves scarves
    -collect meds from the chemist
    -food shopping.
    -phone vet book annual jabs
    -working late afternoon
