  • Finished cleaning the bathroom. Had a pamper. Hung out towels and had a gentle stroll in the lovely warm sun.

My friend came round and offered to help me clean but we went to the pub instead ☺️ We sat in the beer garden and had a couple of drinks 🍹 It was a lovely relaxing afternoon. Spent just over £10

  • I have decided to spend the mornings sorting and cleaning this weekend, then spend the afternoons relaxing or out with friends.

Today I’ve been to the range early to avoid traffic/ crowds and have bought 4 x 80L plastic stacking storage boxes with lids £33.96 for the 15kg bags of dog food & stop the mice eating it. Im just having a rest & drink then will clean the utility room & hoover and put new storage in place. The mice don’t seem to have touched the poison overnight 😕 but hopefully will munch it when dog food is inaccessible.

One load of washing just finishing to hang out. It’s lovely out there today ☀️

I have bought a leg of lamb from asda 2kg cost £13. I am going to roast it tomorrow & have a roast dinner then cut up the rest & freeze for other meals. I love lamb but it’s usually too expensive.

That's a great way of doing things and means you've something to look forward to / plan for. I'd continue that for all weekends as the weather is improving.

I read it as having a pampering hug, hope you felt the benefits as self-care is a high priority when things are getting stressful / annoying.

Enjoy the lamb, it's definitely a rare treat.

  • Got lots done yesterday. Rested in the afternoon.

Lovely and sunny again today. A load of washing is just finishing in the machine to hang out. Still have dog towels and the throws on the kitchen sofa to wash, so may do another load and see how quickly it dries.

Magazine subscription letter arrived for DF’s birthday present so I will phone & pay that for another year on Tuesday from xmas & birthday pot. Home insurance renewal letter has also arrived, increased from £201.60 to £219.52 so I will look at that this weekend & see if I can get a cheaper quote. That will be paid from household bills account.

I’m so glad I managed to build up my savings pot & emergency fund. Everything seems to have come at once with car, house insurance, roof. Still need to phone the roofer. Will probably do it on Tuesday.

Ax@ are doing similar cover to DL, it's a fixed maximum upto value for buildings and contents, and were a lot cheaper. Do a quick comparison check and see what pops up.

The bills cropping up together are the reason I have a dedicated annual account and another account for home repairs / maintenance; keeps stress levels down.

It's a great gift you get DF.

Today is warmer and the drying shouldn't take long. Perhaps take a brew outside and soak up the fresh air.

    Happy Easter.

  • Spring cleaning with a vengeance this weekend 😆 did the living room yesterday. Cleaned all the woodwork, skirting & dado rails, windowsill & door plus cleaned sofa & hoovered.

Washed my jeans & jumpers and they line dried, then also washed sofa throws & line dried too.
Roasted the lamb I bought from Asd@ and had some with roast potatoes and parsnips & broccoli and cauli all from freezer & gravy.  The rest will be carved up today, will have some with vegetable rice & curry sauce and freeze the rest.
Have been out with the dog for an hour this morning. Bumped into my friend with 2dogs and had a long walk & chat with her. It’s sunny but cold breeze. Dog towels are finishing in the washing machine. I am supposed to be going out with my non-dog owning friend this afternoon.  The dog is snoring so loud in her chair 🐶 💤  😆

You are on a roll getting everything done. It seems PD is living vicariously through you, hence the snoring!

    The roast sounded great.

Hope it's coffee and cake you're going for.

  • No coffee and cake, friend is back on SW. However we went out and I had fish & chips & Diet Coke £10.42. Spent £5.99 in b&m on various food bits and £16.98 in the range on 2 more storage boxes with lids. No more signs of mice so far.

Have just fed the dog and will walk her in a couple of hours. Then it’s food shopping at aldee. I will phone the roofer this morning and I need to pop into GP surgery to arrange for a blood test. Am working this afternoon.

You have done so much since you have come back. I am glad you spent time with your dad and had a good break. Please give puppy dog a big hug from me I hope the treatment is soon. I am so pleased you have gone out as it relieves the stress from work. I am off to mark in garden have a good day.
Aiming for a minimal spend 2022
  • Thanks SW. The treatment is later this week so I will let you know how it goes.

Have had a busy morning. Walked the dog first thing. It’s another lovely sunny day. Popped into GP and have now set up an online account (after I got home) and booked a blood test. Then into aldee opposite and got shopping. It was more than expected £39.55 😱 however that did include dishwasher tablets £3.19, 9 pack toilet rolls £1.89, box tissues 75p, 4 pack kitchen roll £1.89 and clothes washing liquid £1.89.

I got a rogan josh curry sauce 99p to mix with the leftover lamb and will have some tonight and freeze the rest.

Curry sauce has come down in price I’m sure it used to be over a pound and micro rice down to 35p a pack. Each pack does 2 meals. Everything else has gone up, block of butter was £1.55 & there were no cheap fresh tomatoes so had to pay £1.59 for lunches

I phoned the roofer after I got home & put shopping away and had a chat to him. He is going to pop round on Friday and have a look and give me a quote.

Also phoned home insurance but they will not budge on their quote. They did say I can port the insurance to my new home. Will see what other quotes I can get online when I get a minute. Just having a rest before starting work. WFH today.
