2 dog walks today. Tidied the kitchen. Dishwasher on, then emptied. Changed my food plan & cooked a “roast” dinner, chicken & veg with mini cubes of roasted potatoes.  Washed up pans & loaded the dishwasher again. I didn’t get to wash the patio or hoover.

I spent most of the afternoon getting house insurance quotes. I phoned my insurance co & they refused to budge on the renewal quote £201 or match the nearest competitor who are £20 cheaper. Rang them twice but they refused to lower their renewal even when I told them I am leaving & made sure there will be no auto renewal.

Had a long snooze on the sofa, watched The Repair Shop which always makes me quite emotional 😭 followed by a long shower & hair wash & did my nails.

Feeling tired again now. Really not looking forward to work tomorrow. Feeling quite weepy which is making me feel quite pathetic ☹️ Hopefully I will feel better tomorrow

How odd your insurer wouldn't price match.
Not sure about your thinking, but a roast on a Sunday always feels like a special treat.

You're not pathetic but displaying a lot of signs of being stressed, anxious and other things, all of which are explainable due to what's going on. Please step cautiously and do not push yourself.

  • Thanks to you all

Switched my gas & electric as my fix ends soon. There are no cheaper tariffs at the moment. The “cheapest” option is £16 a month more 😱 Energy prices have shot up. This is better than the standard tariff and I will get £25 cash back via MSE energy club. I feel a “rent” increase coming on for DS & his gf.

    Almost the weekend!

Have you checked Which switch and citizens advice energy as apparently they have more deals.

Rent should go up if bills do otherwise you're out of pocket.

  • I didn’t check cab but did the main others including u switch. I generally stick with the big 6 and have never had any problems so far 🤞 I think the problems people had with a certain out 🦊 the market increasing people’s direct debits massively has put me off smaller suppliers. I’ve never heard of most of the ones coming up on cab site

I scrolled through until I found one of the big 6 when looking at prices and discounted the sma ones, even though I could save loads. Had this vision of signing up, being ok for a bit then they go belly up and I'm back with who I've had the problems with 🙈

  • I’m with you there Babs. 😁 Only a few fixed tariffs slightly cheaper than mine all with exit fees. I’ve gone with E on next with £25 cash back & no exit fees. Have had various text messages from both suppliers & the transfer date is 1st May so much sooner than expected. Was expecting 4 weeks & didn’t want to wait & risk the tariff being withdrawn & prices going up again.

Am glad it’s the weekend. Feeling tired and a dodgy stomach in the night. Have managed general cleaning during the week, keeping up with the dishwasher & quick clean of the kitchen & bathroom.

I will aim to do some jobs over the weekend but will not beat myself up if I don’t manage them all

    - disinfect patio
    - hoover
    - wipe glass in patio doors to remove dog slobber
(open doors, wipe down with soapy sponge, rinse off with the hose & leave to dry. Will wipe off excess water with squeegee thing, not polishing! Not too energetic 😆)

Still no sign of the parasol I ordered so will have to phone the courier who should have been in touch by end of yesterday according to the email from the range.

Still need to decide what to do about home insurance. I may ring current co again & try for a reduction again. I tried doing an online quote with them as a new customer and it was over £100 more so maybe that’s why they are not price matching. There is only one other co that I recognise in comparison that comes anywhere close to the same cover & around £20 cheaper.

That is quick to transfer over. Do let me know how it goes and what you think of them as they are who I want to end up with. Just have to do the hop away from SP to $$E then onwards to 3on after a month or so.

A lot of these insurance companies are subsidiaries of the big ones, it's worth having a quick search of the name just in case. They do it to offer cheaper no frills policies and charge extra for things some include as standard, which are not always required.

Tasks look good. Maybe you should spend the weekend outside relaxing, assuming you've the weather for it. Listen to your body.
