Is that ¹/4 to where you are now, or the radius of where you are looking?

Glad you are moving to somewhere familiar and it will be a cost saving too. hurrah. Well done on hair cut.Aiming for a minimal spend 20222

In that case, consider taking a small mortgage if it means you are getting exactly the right place for you, especially if you may / may not be moving again. Potentially free legals, cheaper survey etc unless you were looking to reduce your hours a bit more then don't consider it.
Or if you have a few properties within your budget then just go in with what you have and forget the small mortgage idea.Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.2 -
There are lots of places in my price range so shouldn’t need a mortgage. Tbh I can’t wait for it to be gone, it will be a relief & give me some security.I don’t know what will happen in the next 5 years but if I did need to change my job or reduce my hours this current move will give me more options. If I eventually choose to move nearer to DF a 3 bed terrace in his village would currently be around £125k so if I buy here now at £220k I should have enough equity & it should give me more options.Tip run went well with help from chaps there. They are always so helpful. I’ve been resting this afternoon & had a couple of baileys & long chat with a friend. 😊 I have cancelled tomorrow’s tip run. As it’s been raining all day I couldn’t take the bed base outside to chop up with my jigsaw. The forecast is dry tomorrow so hopefully I can do it tomorrow. I need to decide what to do with the radiator cover DF made from decking. If I can find some wood in the shed I will see if I can strengthen it underneath as it would make a lovely decking step into the garden out of the patio doors. Still need to decide what to do with the dog carpet. Takes so long to hoover even with my shark & makes my back & neck ache. Am still considering painting the floor boards & now thinking of getting a rug that I can take with me.Have moved money around & paid credit card. £50 has gone into my 3% savings account. £50 to xmas & birthdays, £50 to car fund, £15 to dog food fund, £100 into annual bills. Will work out my soa tomorrow & then I will see what’s left at the end of the month to see if I can save anything else. I haven’t bought any Christmas presents yet or any Christmas food apart from a toffee & pecan roulade from aldi 😋

That's really good then, definitely go in as a cash buyer 🤗
Best thing I did was have the lounge carpet taken up. It's seconds to sweep and clean compared to vacuuming. Perhaps lift the carpet, ask DS to run a sander over the boards (unless you can comfortably do it) and satin varnish them.
Savings are looking good 🤗Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.3 -
Hi Skinty, decent savings there! And it will be fantastic to get rid of your mortgage (plus helping DS/GF), with the bonus of a smaller place to manage - that would mean smaller bills, CT, maintenance too. I can see you having more ability to save, and more security (no mortgage)... looking forward to 'seeing' you get there...."...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."

Thanks Ren 😊
It’s bitter cold out. Have walked the dog and started lifting the dining area carpet. The floorboards were looking lovely until I got to the corner opposite the door 😕 not sure if paint will hide this ?If the main part of the room looks ok maybe I will get away with paint I was planning on soft grey & a rug but these areas would still be on display0% credit card £1360 & 0% Car Loan £7500 ~ paid in full JAN 2020 = NOW DEBT FREE 🤗

A bit of carefully applied wood filler, in the closest colour to your floorboards, then paint, that will sort it out 😉Mortgage started 2020, aiming to clear 31/12/2029.1

I remember something about using a type of lye, actually called wood lye I think? Lightens up wooden floorboards, and cleans them up too, so all the floorboards would be more even coloured before you start... hope that helps!"...when you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains however improbable, must be the truth..."
