  • Wow! I am away for a bit, and you are de-cluttering, downsizing, DIY-ing & moving... crikey.

Your DS & his GF are very lucky to have your help, I always feel it's terrible for anyone starting out now to get their own place, with the horrific prices of homes, but, I think it will be lovely for you to have a smaller place to yourself too. Good luck with your preparation & house-hunting!  :) And I think a good place for you to be - mortgage-free, given what's happening around us....

  • Spendy day yesterday 😬 Started off dry, sunny and frosty. Had a lovely long walk with the dog. Can’t take her onto the field at the moment as some reprobate set fire to a motorbike over there. I phoned the council Thursday morning as it’s their field & it was gone the same day but has left a residue of petrol/ oil / ash that other dogs seem to be delighting in rolling in! Have managed to keep her away from it so far, apparently it’s like tar 😕

Went to the range early & bought a lovely picture I saw a few weeks ago £21.99 and some chocolate. Chocolate is essential shopping in my books 😂

Then went to the drive thru mcd to pick up breakfast 😋 £4.19
Spent a few hours chopping up one of the armchairs ready for DS to load into my car along with mattress 1.

Bought a new leather sofa from @rgos & it’s coming next Saturday! It won’t fit through the front door but online chat before ordering assured me that they will carry it round the back, through the garden and in the patio doors. Was rather hoping they would say no! It will be a good investment piece (that’s what I’m telling myself 😉)

Tip run today at 11.30. Just going to walk the dog.

Other jobs for this weekend, weed front forecourt & swap my creaking bed with spare room base. My bed can be chopped up to go to the tip with mattress 2.  I will get DS to bring the single bed down from storage in the loft & dress the spare room which will then look huge instead of squashed with a double bed taking up all the space.

  • They may be able to flip the sofa on its end, pivot it through the door and do the same when inside the house.

Never understand where the 'fun' is with setting fire to things, guess it was stolen and burnt to hide evidence.

That's a big to do list this weekend, try not to overdo it.

Ummm chocolate is good! Calcium 😁

  • Not sure about the sofa it’s 860mm x 1620mm x 960mm and the narrow part of the hallway from radiator to staircase is 740. I remember having this problem before & buying a sofa with low back & tall cushions which Velcro off. Nothing comes off the new one & all cushions are attached.

DS got the chopped up chair in my car but couldn’t fit folded mattress on top. Took the dogs paddling pool (hole in it), glass top off old tv unit, broken parasol & base instead. Lovely council lad lifted the chair into the skip for me 😁

Called off at Aldi for milk & a few bits & pieces for next week £12.47.  Just having a bit of lunch then going for a walk on the common with a friend (the one without the dog). Was going to veg out in front of tv but she rang me and asked if I fancied a walk so it will be nice to have a chat with her. I can veg out on sofa later 😆

Mattress 1 is in the boot for next trip to the tip.

  • That's quite a sofa coming!
Still a good tip run. Are there any other bits you can take to get the next one out the way?
Hope your wall was mentally refreshing and you're sufficiently recharged 🤗

Haha sorry that’s the measurement including packaging! 😆 it’s only a 2 seater!

Overdid the walk but it was lovely to get out. Paying for it now, but worth it.

Avoided a takeaway with an aldi pizza tonight. Also a few of what I thought was mini “duck in hoisin sauce” spring rolls. When I took a closer look at the box they were “no duck in hoisin sauce”spring rolls ... oops I’m a little bit veggie 😂 with jackfruit  & cabbage. They were ok but don’t understand why they didn’t just call them jackfruit in hoisin sauce spring rolls & leave the duck out completely!

  • A 2 seater should pivot easily, especially with the delivery people are used to getting them in properties.
Think I've got the same spring rolls in the freezer, will have to check as I thought they were duck 🙈

  • If I had looked a bit closer I would have realised they were in a green box which says vegan on it. 😆 Last time I bought the duck ones I think they were in a red box! To be honest I dashed round and grabbed a few things in a panic to get out. It was very busy and people were not social distancing so I must have only been 10 mins max.

Meal plan for the week to use up meals in the freezer / stores

Breakfast- eggs & toast, sausage hash browns egg & beans, beans on toast, porridge & banana

Lunches - home made veg soup, jacket potato & tuna mayo, jacket potato with beans / cheese, southern fried chicken fillet on a wrap (1 wrap left) with peppers, onions & cheese.

    Dinners -
1 x Beef in gravy (batch cooked last week) roast potatoes & parsnips, veg.
3 x sausage & bean casserole (batch cooked last week) with chips/ baked potato/ pasta
1 x Chinese chicken & veg fried rice
1 x Chicken with ginger & stir fry noodles
1 x tandoori chicken with veg fried rice
1 x leftover chicken fajitas with rice

    plans for today
    walk the dog
make a big pot of veg soup- potato, carrots & onions & chicken stock cube.
Move the spare room bed base into my room. It’s a very light divan base & 2 halves. Will try it with my mattress first & see if it solves the loud creaking noise when I sit on the edge of my bed. I’m sure it’s my base that creaks & not my mattress or me 😆

  • Checked mine and they have a bit of duck in them 😂 got them from the party food section.
    Food plans looks great.
Could be a combination creaking, but the lesser used base should make a difference.

  • Contacted arg0s online chat as delivery is from 7am to 6pm but it’s dark by 4pm and the alleyway to the back garden is not lit if they can’t get it in the front. They changed delivery to 7am - 11am and although the time slot usually costs more they waived the fee 😁

Tip run booked for next Sunday morning. Dismantled the old 90’s tv stand & put in the car ready to go with the mattress. May be more to go as the week progresses.
