  • How about having a day of relaxation, you don't have to do something just because it's the weekend ☺️

  • Hey Skinty
Don't worry about the quieter days, just enjoy them, time to catch up on the unread books, the little tasks you forget to get round to (like the socks I have been meaning to darn for 2 weeks and keep walking past...), some chill out and review time to step back and look at what you've achieved never hurts.... :)

  • I did rest for part of the day but when I am feeling well I need to get stuff done and sitting around all day doesn't help my back. I may have had a snooze after lunch 😴

I took the dog out again at 3pm to get some fresh air & wake up a bit. Then I was going to hoover but my shark has lost suction. So I looked up on u tube and took it apart, cleaned & washed the filters. Will leave for 48 hours to make sure the filters are dry, especially the motor filter, then reassemble & hope it’s fixed.

Today I fed the dog at 5, had a cup of tea and managed to get back to sleep. DS & gf are just getting up for work. I will walk the dog then paint the shed. Then I will rest this afternoon. It’s meant to get up to 30 degrees the next few days so I will not be doing much due to the heat

  • All sounds good, I've heard there's warmth coming 'down south'. Hopefully you can still potter around and enjoy the weather 😁

A few of my friends with sheds have been painting theirs, only with colour instead of the normal brown. The photos look great, have lifted their gardens and made it more year round summer.

  • Some sheds look great painted. I love the “beach hut” look. My shed is over 15 years old & starting to get dry & brittle. Water based paint would just sit on the surface and wash off in the rain. This stuff is oil based and the wood was very thirsty & soaked it up. Hasn’t been done for a couple of years and hopefully will last a couple more years.

Weighed myself this morning and I lost 2lb this week 😊 Now 10st 12lb. Not sure how that happened !

It was sunny with a nice breeze when I walked the dog. Started painting about 10am. Mask & gloves essential and used my step ladder for the higher slats so I was painting “downhill” so the paint didn’t run down my arm. Finished at 1.30. I was resting in between painting each side & half hour to set up & brush wood down with stiff bristled brush & half hour to pack away. Warm shower, hair wash & painkillers and aching now but not too bad. £7.99 paid from household bills account.

  • Congratulations on the weightloss 🤗

Well done getting the shed done, it should be good for a few more years.

    Enjoy your evening ☺️

  • Hey Skinty
Great on the weight loss, lucky thing, I am not weighing myself yet in case the scales yell 'Get off!'...
Lovely job on the shed - I can't remember when mine was last done....

On a side note :Saw a neighbour painted his like a green camouflage effect, then he hand painted larger 'jungle style leaves' in a dark shade, and finally painted tiny figures climbing a cliff edge, parachuting off the top! Looks great and very original. Might inspire me to be a bit more creative..... :)

  • Camo shed sounds fab 😆 I’m getting a plastic one next time !

Just back from nice dog walk. Have collected loads of conkers as we seem to have loads of spiders indoors this year 😵 I’m sure it’s an old wives tale but worth a try. I hate spiders they terrify me.  Have to hold my breath when I go in the shed or any dark corners!

I have read that peppermint oil works and I have some from when we once had mice. I will see if I can find it later after work & rub some on the conkers ☺️ before putting them round the windows & in corners away from the dog where she can’t get them. It didn’t work on the mice (other not so friendly methods did) but a quick google says scientists have tested it and it works on spiders 😁

  • Aw, I sympathise, Mother's the same about them, but, like me plenty of hoovering and dusting frightens them off inside. Its the quieter places where they are not disturbed where they 'hang out' literally... Not heard that about peppermint oil, must tell her, thanks! Conkers? Sounds bonkers, but, might try that as long as my land shark (dog) can't get her paws on them... :D

  • Urgh, it's that time of year for spiders. Keeps my cat occupied at night though!
I've heard conkers work, but never tried it myself.
