Morning all,
Yesterday was a spend day as it was my grans birthday so i bought her some flowers and a card.
Today should a NSD though which I'm glad for.0 -
Hmm so I got swept overboard for the last few days but am back on board now.
Had a lovely weekend, great music and dancing Friday night and managed to come away having had a lot less alcohol than expected which is great!!
NSD Saturday and Sunday so up to 6 now I think, must check. Hopefully today will be as well.
Back in the gym yesterday for the first time in a long time. Stiff today but hopefully can get back into a routine. Think signing up to classes is the way to go as feel an obligation to be there when I have registered.
Been busy at work and getting a little down about it. Going to try and adjust my attitude this week and try not to let things get to me so hopefully will be more positive going forward.
Will try keep up to date with thread as I find it is easier to keep track of things when have to report them here. Less likely to fritter away cash if have to admit to wasting a NSD on nothing important.0 -
Good morning,
NSD here today (and yesterday), just got treated to lunch which was nice.
Very up and down today. Just sometimes wondering what is the point of life as I get older. I'm not religious so don't have anything to look fwd to after and from a biologists point of view it's rather bleak. Anyway, thought I would never be like that. Those stupid little numbers on a cake mess with my head.
Anyway, on a more positive note, I just paid my last CC off :j by shuffling some money around. Now just family debt left.DEBT 02/25: total £6100 Debt free date 12/250 -

I can masquerade as a beggar with said cat, move to Hull, and earn a small fortune. Now if you just give me your address I can set up shop nearby haha! I jest of course. How are the NSDs coming along? Have you spotted where the ‘leaks’ in your spending are occurring?
Need to check the NSD's...
oh boy, the leaks... No, it's not that bad.:D
1) Going to a gig will often include a purchase of a CD or 3 and let's not forget that new t-shirt from Sunday night's gig. Although on one hand, it is supporting the artist by buying direct, I don't budget for it.
2) Went to a record shop opened by a former colleague. Didn't buy vinyl but did buy a rather nice enamel pin. I will always support small businesses... and I don't budget for it.
3) Have cancelled a subscription, it'll end in 3 months. Thinking about cancelling another subscription.
4) Working on reducing broadband costs. Reduced mobile to less than £10 a few months ago, may consider tethering mobile to PC. Why have a landline that I don't use?
5) European music festivals within the Euro zone may be off my agenda till Brexit sorts itself out. £ to euro exchange rate is awful.
Grateful for:
2 storming gigs!
The roses that arrived today.

I feel this sometimes but I now tend to think the point of life is to be kind. To yourself and others - it keeps me going! :beer:0 -
Measuring Goals
5 The SMART Goal Specific
Measurable
Achievable

6 Break It Down
Once you have your smart goal, break it down into steps with markers for each successful step. If the goal is to walk 10 miles the markers could be half a mile, a mile, two miles etc. The first step must be achievable.
Hugs thrifty. Do you want to swap? I have just sailed past 59 (and I get emails asking me if I want to plan my funeral). I am not vain and have never bothered about getting older but I did find 'milestone' birthdays made me depressed for a few weeks either side. Life can sometimes feel like a treadmill with us as the hamsters. Is there anything you can do to vary your routine (just something small).
It may not feel possible (stuck in your rut) but there is always something. For a while I did cleaning jobs and when I felt stale I would do the room anti-clockwise, rather than clockwise - it may not sound like much but it did help to see things from a different perspective. My mission in life is not only to survive, but to thrive and to do so with some Passion, some Compassion, some Humour and some Style.NST SEP No 1 No Debt No mortgage0 -
Sorry I've been missing a couple of days. Life has been manic.
Work. Broken boiler. Bad weather. Bad sleep. Work. Kids Clubs.
I'm officially skint by half way through Feb thanks to boiler breakdown and vet bills. I still have half term to think about as well.
Anyway - still plenty to be grateful for
1. Boiler being fixed
2. Knowing a gas engineer (friend's hubby) so less stressful
3. Migraleve
4. Only 3 days until half term
5. DS seems to be settled back in his own bed
6. My gorgeous kidsNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control

I try to be nice to everyone. Just enjoy life whilst you can, money isn't everything.
Had a lovely Valentine's Day off work . Woke up late heaven, took my time eating breakfast and then went on coat hunt. Decided against really expensive proper walking coat (washed mine today) bought a parka one with big furry hood for£30 and got a new woolly hat in NL. Watch it warm up now.
Got some fruit as advised by my diet guru Mothernerd and milk in Mr T. Found some strawberries with pot of chocolate in the middle ys so lovely treat.
Did Sainsbobs needed socks and knickers 25% off got some bottles of wine and bit of shopping. Used vouchers so only a £5 spent.
Carried on spending primulas in b/q for £6 tidied up my tubs, moved around and gorgeous looking out of my kitchen to cheery little flowers- so much joy for little spend.
Grateful for
Day off I feel de-stressed and so much happier
A warm coat and few treats

Another NSD for me
that's 3. Should be 4 tomorrow as I'm working half 5 until 8 so not exactly much time left in the day to spend!
Hubby won £25 on the lottery he didn't tell me about so took me and little man for a valentine's tea out. Couldn't complain as it was his treat. We're going to use our £30 voucher to buy lots of cheaper cuts to stock up the freezer as we've eaten out instead of getting 2 expensive steaks. I'll still cook the meal I planned Saturday for Valentines but just with a cheaper steak - will see if I can spot some ys ones tomorrow after late finish at work.
We've been given £500 off the inlaws  as a gift to spend on finishing our garden off. Totally out of the blue. Looking forward to pricing up materials this weekend for laying parking strips and putting stones down for offroad parking. Will help our house sell quicker with parking, hopefully we can move the end of this year. Should be enough left for a little fence and gate we want. I have a few plants I got cheap at a local gala that are sat in pots waiting to be planted. Even if we don't move it'll be so nice to be able to enjoy our garden this year.
Things I'm grateful for:-
Lottery wins
Generous family

Birthday wishes for today, thrifty xx
Having always been excited by birthdays it is only the past couple of years that I've come to realise that they can be quite 'flat' as an adult - you've still got to go to work/ do the school run/ cook dinner/ do the washing etc - they really are 'just another day' . However, whilst growing older is sometimes no fun (aches and pains, grey hair etc) - it beats the alternative...
Another NSD here. Zumba this morning and then have spent some of the day on housework - good sort of out my wardrobe and a thorough polish and vacuum of my bedroom. Half-cleaned the kitchen too - and then made a massive double batch of coconut/ cherry/ banana cakes - and - if I say so myself - they are super light and fluffy and really yummy- plenty to go around! Also made a big tray of fridge cake/ rocky road-ish stuff
Today I am thankful for:
* DS1 looking after DS2 and DS3 when I went to Zumba
* Having (more than) enough
* Being able to cook
