  • I'm off to bed in a minute as my back is killing me, it's my own fault, I had some sewing to do, for money, & I can't get to my seing machine as my DSIL has filled up my spare room, so I was perched with one b*m cheek on my sewing chair & the other one hovering in midair, not the most comfortable position to sit in.
I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments on here & on the blog(yes it is on there Ceridwen) & the pm's.
    I really appreciate everyones interest.

  • <<Jackie O, Sorry that your wound's taking it's time to heal, hopefully they'll sort it out soon. In the meantime take it easy. Hugs. Thanks for the reminder of Womans Hour...I remember my Mum listening to that every day when we were small. Wasn't there a slot called 'Listen with Mother' in the middle of it?>>

'Listen with Mother was on at 1.45' (are you sitting comfortably, then I'll begin) ,then 2.00 it was Womens Hour. Along with the Archers I have been listening to wWomens Hour as long as I can remember. It started in 1946 , and is still going strong ,although it is in the morning now.All of my wireless's in my house are set to Radio 4, and even my car is as well. I get my news first thing in the morning with the Today programme ,who needs to spend 8/- on a newspaper:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

  • I suppose I better get my backside into gear. The WM has finished so I better hang it out. Lovely sunshine here so it should dry in a jiffy. :p I've been up really early this morning. DH & DD both got up at 5am. They would have woke the dead. So it was a bit hard to go back to sleep.

DD's car had to be towed away last night. They think it's either the computer thingy or something in the steering column. It's getting checked today so no doubt I will get a phone call from her. Must remember NOT to answer phone today. :D

Aril Fingers crossed for your friend. I hope all goes well.
Marie We're quite used to your rants. :D DDIL seems very young to have those sorts of health problems. That's very serious. She should take better care of herself.
TiredMum Let us know how the dr's went. ;)
Chalky They do get older. Another set of problems though. It never ends I'm afraid.

Have a good night sleep everyone. Byeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

  • Hi, another late post from me.

Only had a quick look at today's thread, so big hugs to all those in need of one.

I've not been on here for a few days as we've been pretty busy. On Saturday we went to the Southport Airshow with the girls. Yesterday we went to church in the morning and then my parents came around for a meal as it was my dad's birthday.
DD1(10) has gone on a school trip today and comes back on Friday so the house is much quieter but I'm really missing her. After school I made Everyday Biscuits (recipe from here) with DD2(6) and they are lovely. Unfortunately I can't stop eating them!
I did a 'small' shop in Asda this morning, but I have still gone over my monthly grocery budget. Next month I need to use up more of the contents of my cupboard and freezer and spend less.
Yesterday we had roast lamb and as there was loads of veg left over, I made Bubble and Squeak for tonight's tea. We only usually have this on Boxing Day, so it was a real treat! :D
Just re-read my post and I know I'm tired as I'm rambling on....anyway off to bed, goodnight.

I think that is why Michael Palin's programme is so popular, he does what a lot of us would love to do. I have a friend who is 63 who is going back-packing around Cambodia next month, and my pal whom I went to the U.S. with in April is off with her husband to Vietnam and Laos in November.
I am hoping that next year if all goes well with my treatment I will be able to visit Moscow and St Petersburg.:j I have done most of the European mainland in the past, and now I would love to go still further and see whats on the other side of the horizon.
It beats the heck out of sitting down in front of the t.v. watching Countdown and growing old and crabby.:rotfl: :rotfl: I am the wrong side of 60, and when I get really ancient (God willing ,about 90) I want to look back on my life and say well I did go there and saw that.
Age and the fact I am a women should be no hinderance to any of us. Mind you I have got to get past my two guardians first (my two lovely DD's):rotfl:
Woman's Hour ,like the W.I. is not all Jam & Jerusalem ( another place I would like to visit), but women who are keen to learn new things and go to new places .My late Mum, bless her never went anywhere exciting and she always longed to go to Paris. Her generation just didn't travel far at all. My late Dad went overseas but it was with the army, and there was a war on at the time
Travel is one of the best things to become more popular in the last 50 or so years .I remember going to Switzerland in the 1950s, and in those days you were restricted to how much currency you could take with you,I think it was about £25.00 for 10 days, not a lot as the government of the day didn't want money going out of the country
At the moment I am an armchair traveller but roll on next year :j
