"An average increase of about £3/mth for some Sky TV and broadband customers on older, cheaper so-called 'legacy' deals, which now cost more for newer customers – Sky says it's bringing the costs of those packages "into line with current pricing" (from Wednesday 1 March)."

My 9 month old Original bundle is increasing by £1 to £22.50, but it looks like new customers only pay £22?

I'd noticed that. Maybe the £22 for new customers will go up in March as well to £22.50.

I was on a legacy Sky TV package for £29.50 and cancelled it last week. They made me an offer I could not refuse of 60% off making it £11.80. Today I see it has gone up to £12.80. Rang Sky and they said all legacy packages have been cancelled and it is now £32 (60% off still applies making it £12.80)

I have just confirmed through live chat that I can cancel penalty free due to the price rise. They tried to say there would be early termination charges but I pointed them to their own terms and conditions that they were wrong.

Sky Broadband terms and conditions section 11 c (ii) covers this

Really! I'm contracted till 28/06/2017 for everything Sky provides. As the price is only increasing for line rental and broadband, will I be able to switch for free?

Even if they do put the prices up, it'll still be much better value for money than the all-in package I had with BT.

Are you sure about that because I was planning to switch from Sky to BT.

I have Sky Variety Entertainment as TV package, unlimited broadband and Sky talk anytime. I will be paying £56 per month from March (Current is £52 per month)

Checking online, BT infinity including BT sports for free until 31 July (£3.99 after that), unlimited broadband, talk anytime and it came out £50 per month.

I know there is not much difference in price but BT offers BT Sports where I can watch football and UFC :)

I have just learned that Sky are putting up line rental from March. Rising from £17.49 p/month to £18.99 p/month, an increase of £1.50 p/m, or £18 annually. I have just attempted to phone the automated Helpline 03300 413 000. What nonsense that is! Unable to ask a question that can be answered properly. Does anyone have an alternative number please?

EDIT: I have been given the broadband number: 0330 332 3037 - I spoke to a human being, who was helpful and gave me the information that it is only the line rental charge that is increasing. There is also this number: 0330412 558 - which is another "Sky Expert" number, but takes callers to a human, not the automated service 03300 413 000 which is no help whatsoever.
I have emailed [email protected] and asked for written confirmation that I can cancel Sky if one service from my account is subject to a price increase.

My sky line rental is going up by £1.59 to £18.99 but it seems it is not just the line rental that is going up in March. Broadband is going up by £2.50 and Variety TV bundle is going up by £1.90.

Boxnation will be added to BT Sport by the end of March if you're interested in boxing, it'll be the full 24/7 coverage too.

I've found out it IS better to call FIRST if possible, before starting the switch, so they can set their system not to apply cancellation charges. but it is possible the other way around too.

I currently pay sky £19.90 per month for line rental and unlimited broasband.

They have emailed me with notice that they intend to put up broadband by £2.50 pm and line rental by £1.59 pm making a new total of £23.99 per month.

Apparently if i am in contract i can cancel within 30 days and not suffer exit charges.

    I dont use sky tv.

Can anyone also clarify whether broadband only users get to use sky go for free? I can log in to the sky go website but havent tried to view any content yet..
    tnx
Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..

I don't trust them when they aren't actually gaining custom, so when leaving BT for Sky (price rise nicely coincided with O2's transfer to Sky), I called BT to check that leaving without penalty was possible, then ordered Sky and after the Sky confirmation email arrived, rang BT to make sure all was going as expected.
