1 trip to compare the market later and I've now switched to Scottish power that was £810.
EON has since tried to lure me back with £912.60 tariff and £75 high street vouchers. Erm I don't think so!!!moosetastic wrote: »I also want to add that I didn't want to leave Eon. Great service, tesco club card points, what's not to love!! But when I'm a full time carer and only earn £350 a month, a jump in gas and electricity of over £200 is just too much for me to absorb.
Morning moosetastic and sorry to lose you but understand why. Glad, though, we looked after you whilst you were with us and you liked the Tesco Clubcard points we were able to offer.

SP is coming up cheapest for me but after previous experience I will never go back to them. There are a couple of other providers I will never use either - based on my knowledge of other people's experiences.
Poor customer service can cost money as well as stress. Unfortunately it seems you get what you pay for. With Eon I have had both a good price and a decent service. The trick is going to be to match that - or at least get somewhere near.
Glad the service was okay pineapple and understand about the prices.

The best Eon can offer me is E.ON Saver Fixed 1 Year v4 @
£1,003.39 per year
£83.62 per month
That is an insane increase. What an insult. No way I am paying anything like that.
Understand what you're saying snowathlete and sorry I can't suggest a suitable alternative with us at this time.
As above, our version 19 was a discounted tariff and only available for a short time. It was withdrawn from sale on 9 February 16 and replaced with a tariff very similar to those currently on our website. These have all been priced significantly higher than version 19.
The review I've also mentioned is looking at how we'll go forward with any changes usually appearing on our website first. Totally appreciate this isn't much use to you at this particular time. I will, though, be sending yours and similar comments from others to those at E.ON looking after the review.

Yes, a 31.7% increase which is not dissimilar to the 32.3% increase that would have affected me had I stayed with E.ON.
In an environment in which general CPI inflation is not much above 0%, this price increase looks very odd.
As above inexpert, version 19 was a discounted special offer. Like a lot of such offers, it was only on sale for a short time and was replaced in February last year with a significantly more expensive product.
The review I've mentioned elsewhere is looking at our products and services with a view to how we go forward in 2017. We don't currently have a similar alternative to version 19 so appreciate this review isn't much use to you at this time. I will, though, send your comments to those looking after the review.
Sorry I can't suggest a suitable alternative to version 19 with us at the moment.

skinnylove wrote: »So I've signed up to the new v4 tariff, to begin on 24th February when my old EHL collective fix ends. I was seriously going to move to Robin Hood Energy when the time was up, as v21 just wasn't competitive at all. However, v4 will save me £5 a month over v21, and is only approximately £2 a month more expensive than Robin Hood. I like Eon's customer service and website, so I'm pleased to be staying - however they better not pull anymore "New customer only" stunts! Hopefully they've seen the error of their ways.
Glad our service has been okay and you like the website skinnylove. Also good to see you've signed up to the Saver Fixed 1 Year version 4 deal. Don't worry, if the product review I've mentioned quite a bit on this and other threads should throw up a better alternative as we go through 2017, you'll be able to move to this without penalty. Even though your new tariff has exit fees of £30 per fuel, these only apply if changing supplier outside of the renewal period. They don't apply when moving from one E.ON tariff to another.
Hope this is of interest.

You know, thinking about it, V19 (and v18) didn't really do E.ON any favours.
They were such great tariffs that anything this year looks like crap.
[Edit, I take that back, I was wrong about the direct debit discount, correcting for that they weren't all that great last year either, don't I feel like a chump]
I don't fully trust PCW's so like some others here I created a spreadsheet to enter all the tariff details plus any discounts to compare the market myself. The top line is my current tariff and at the end of every line is a % difference to the first.
V21 doesn't compare all that well when looking at it like that, but then, none of them do.
I realised I just need to forget v19, Like Barack Obama it's gone and it's not coming back.
I've just rearranged the table so that this years best tariff is sat at the top. Looking at it that way, things are different, and V21 is only 17% more for my expected usage. Not great but still much better than 34%
Its a tenner a month, which is within the threshold of giving me doubts over a decision I was happy with only 2 days before my cooling of period ends...
By the way. One thing I've noticed that you might want to look into Malc, is that the quote on the E.ON website, even when monthly direct debit is selected, doesn't include the £35 per fuel DD discount, which works out about £5.80 a month less for dual fuel customers and really makes your offering look worse3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). grumpycrab wrote: »Hello. My EON fix expires in 49 days (panic!); quick question - how long does it take to switch on average (that's from EON to I-don't-know-where just yet...). Thanks.
EDIT: I see citizens advice says "Switching to a new supplier should take around 17 days, but often takes up to 3 weeks. " Is this correct?
Hello grumpycrab and no need to panic. You have time to decide on your next deal.
As molerat says, where suppliers have signed up to Faster Switching (most have but there are exceptions), the supply usually transfers in about two and half weeks. If they haven't, the switch might take about 5 weeks.
As your current tariff expires in 49 days as of yesterday, you'll be inside the Price Protection window. This is open 49 calendar days before a fixed tariff ends until 20 working days after. Provided a new supplier applies to takeover during this time, we'll make sure you stay on the cheaper prices right up to the supply end date. Exit fees also don't apply whilst inside this window.
Hope this helps grumpycrab. Let me know if you need any more information as happy to help further.

i'm with Raxial
As a cynic I guess that Eon does not really want all the "savvy customers" that signed up to the very cheap deals early last year.
Okay they may keep a few who forget to move now,but long term probably have taken a decision that they don't need the switching brigade.
Hence offer a load of tat until "that lot" have either stayed or gone (I believe circa end Feb 2017 is as far as any decent eon legacy deals extend), then maybe take "another look".
If i am wrong, and marketing really think a "book token for woolworths or whatever" is an incentive to stay, then i'm currently floating up the tay on my banana speedboat.0 -
I've already initiated a switch away from E.On for my relative whose account I look after. Even though she's disabled and struggles to read her meters, which E.On made easier for her by installing smart meters, she has decided she will cope somehow reading them for a new supplier costing £93 per month, instead of £114 per month with E.On's latest fix.
I can see some estimated readings coming and me having to read the meters to get a correct billing, but how can you justify an extra £21 per month to a pensioner, when there are cheaper suppliers out there? The chosen one was not even the cheapest, just one I felt we could cope with!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. According to E.ON rep Malc in another thread, provided the new supplier inform them of the change within 20 days after the end of your fixed tariff, they will honour your current rates until the transfer completes and final bill is raised.
It which sounds too good to be true, but Hengus Confirmed that's what he meant.

Hello Raxiel and happy to confirm both an earlier post in reply to Hengus (as per your link) and above in this thread (post #58). Customers on fixed tariffs and inside the Price Protection window (open 49 calendar days before the tariff end date until 20 working days after), will stay on the cheaper prices and avoid exit fees when changing supplier provided the new supplier applies for the account within this time frame. If we receive notification within the window, prices will be protected up until the supply end date. You know, thinking about it, V19 (and v18) didn't really do E.ON any favours.

Understand where you're coming from here Raxiel. Considering the discounts available with Fixed 1 Year versions 18/19, our later tariffs (from 9 February 16 to date) were always going to struggle to compare in any sort of favourable way.
I've just checked the Quote Tool on our website and it does include an adjustment for paying with a Monthly Direct Debit. This is for both existing customers changing tariff and potentially new customers asking for costs. It's given via lower daily standing charges rather than a lump sum or percentage discount. In most cases, the standing charges when paying with a Monthly Direct Debit are 16.422p per day for electricity and 21.903p per day for gas (including VAT). This works out at about £35 per fuel per year and is included in the quoted figure.
Hope this explains Raxiel. Let me know if you've any further concerns as happy to help.
