Sorry Malc but EON only have themselves and their stupidity to blame for this Exodus.

When a company stops listening to it's customers and believes it knows better than them what they want I'm sorry but it time to leave.

Unfortunately this is like one of Baldrick's cunning plans only much much worse.

This way to the Promised Land and watch out for the sharks chaps! :D

Thanks for your input youravinalarrrf and particularly the graphics. I've sent this to the managers looking after the product review I've mentioned both in this and other threads. It all helps as we look at a different approach for 2017.

I've just checked the Quote Tool on our website and it does include an adjustment for paying with a Monthly Direct Debit. This is for both existing customers changing tariff and potentially new customers asking for costs. It's given via lower daily standing charges rather than a lump sum or percentage discount. In most cases, the standing charges when paying with a Monthly Direct Debit are 16.422p per day for electricity and 21.903p per day for gas (including VAT). This works out at about £35 per fuel per year and is included in the quoted figure.

Those DSC rates are including the discount!? I didn't realise that! it makes a big difference. I raised this via email last year due to a confusion with the quote from a PCW and what I calculated (ie £70 p.a.) and they didn't set me straight...
[Edit, thats 35.6p/day for electricity and 41.1p/day for gas for anyone who doesn't want a monthly DD or smart PAYG? Wow]

I retract my previous statement, the current tariffs aren't great even compared to the rest of the big 6.

Guess my switch is still going ahead. Thanks for the information.

As a cynic I guess that Eon does not really want all the "savvy customers" that signed up to the very cheap deals early last year.

Okay they may keep a few who forget to move now,but long term probably have taken a decision that they don't need the switching brigade.
Hence offer a load of tat until "that lot" have either stayed or gone (I believe circa end Feb 2017 is as far as any decent eon legacy deals extend), then maybe take "another look".

If i am wrong, and marketing really think a "book token for woolworths or whatever" is an incentive to stay, then i'm currently floating up the tay on my banana speedboat.

Thanks for your comments superbigal36. Totally see where you're coming from. I've sent this to the managers looking after the product review I've mentioned before. Feedback like this is really helpful particularly about the impact of things other than prices like Rewards.

    Malc,

It might be a really good idea if you remind them that it is 2017 now already as they seem to be thinking it's still 2016 and they've still got loads of time.

Mind you their thinking caps have probably burned out with all the totally crap cunning plans they keep coming up with. :D

Unfortunately I'm one customer who just won't accept unjustified and unexplained crap from any supplier and I certainly won't ever be taken advantage of.

Never say never but after this latest farce the chances are that EON won't ever get my business again.

I'm afraid EON will be going on the list together with Extra Energy.......and you have to admit that even being mentioned in the same sentence as them is a really really bad thing! :D

I can take a hint and I know when I'm not wanted. :rotfl:

I've already initiated a switch away from E.On for my relative whose account I look after. Even though she's disabled and struggles to read her meters, which E.On made easier for her by installing smart meters, she has decided she will cope somehow reading them for a new supplier costing £93 per month, instead of £114 per month with E.On's latest fix.
I can see some estimated readings coming and me having to read the meters to get a correct billing, but how can you justify an extra £21 per month to a pensioner, when there are cheaper suppliers out there? The chosen one was not even the cheapest, just one I felt we could cope with!

Sorry to lose your relative as a customer victor2 but completely understand where you're coming from. Also sorry I can't suggest a suitable alternative with us at this time. Not sure what tariff they've been on but if, as I suspect, it's one of the discounted tariffs available about a year ago, our current products were always likely to struggle to compare.

As with similar posts on this and other threads, I've fed it back to those looking after the product review I've mentioned before.

Morning Raxiel and glad the information was useful.

Not sure if you're talking about our Daily Standing Charges. With us, for payment by means other than a Monthly Direct Debit or Smart Pay As You Go, they're 26.019p per day for electricity and 31.50p per day for gas. These prices include VAT.

    Sorry if I've misunderstood.

Morning youravinalarrrf and sorry I can't give you what you want.

The product review I've spoken about before is an ongoing project. We're looking to redesign our entire portfolio. This includes both tariffs and services. As such, we'll be releasing different things as we go through the year. Our website is the best place to see these developments unfold.

Appreciate what you're saying and, as advised in a different thread, I've let the managers looking after this project know about your concerns.

No, my sums were wrong, I added £70/365 to each figure instead of £35/365. The rest of my post stands though.

V19 for me ends next week. Needless to say I'm switching. For months now it's been perfectly clear E.ON has consciously and deliberately withdrawn from the competitive market, deciding to keep only the cash-cow customers. They have dabbled in the dark market of collectives where tariffs are invisible. But I suspect they wish to exit the domestic supply market completely (apart from the cash-cows of course): they have been testing opinion on E.ON becoming a comparison site - for a profitable monthly fee of course. And I have noticed an increase in E.ONs advertising to businesses in the newspapers and an absence of advertising to domestic consumers.
They're entitled to change their business model of course. The bother with AGE UK last year (for which I don't blame E.ON or AGE UK at all as it happens) seemed to precipitate all this. So, bye-bye E.ON.

Eon EHL Collective Feb 2016 ends soon.

Electric switched to M+S Energy Fix & More 2 Year total after cashback and £40 voucher= £424 (No exit fees)

Gas switched to Better energy: Online Fixed 2 Feb 19 = £425 (£30 pounds exit fee)

both based on usage of 12500 for gas and 3000 for Elec and live in South East.

All in all paying more than £92/year pounds extra than my current EO tariff but they are fixed for 2 years

Shame to Eon for not providing a better tariff
