Don't forget the effect of Sterling devaluation brought about by the madness of 23 June 2016(IMO;))

True - but even if the wholesale price of electricity doubled, the increase would only be 15% (my bad - I recalled that electricity accounted for 36% of every bill; it is fact, 32%). The problem seems to be the increase in the other components which account for 68%.

The tables at the bottom of this link are particularly revealing:

    http://www.energy-uk.org.uk/customers/about-your-energy-bill/the-breakdown-of-an-energy-bill.html

Look at the staggering increase in environmental and social costs for electricity between 2010 and 2017. Perhaps we should all revert to gas lighting.

A new energy company is being launched in the Spring.
If they are as good as their promises they had better get their infrastructure right as they will be very popular!

  • So I've signed up to the new v4 tariff, to begin on 24th February when my old EHL collective fix ends. I was seriously going to move to Robin Hood Energy when the time was up, as v21 just wasn't competitive at all. However, v4 will save me £5 a month over v21, and is only approximately £2 a month more expensive than Robin Hood. I like Eon's customer service and website, so I'm pleased to be staying - however they better not pull anymore "New customer only" stunts! Hopefully they've seen the error of their ways.

Every new supplier says that it is going to be different. In truth, they are all the same. They supply gas and electricity, raise bills and collect money. How different can any two suppliers be?

I've only had a quick look, but it appears to be another "crowdfunding" company, perhaps like M E ?

    Will look in detail, anon........

Hello. My EON fix expires in 49 days (panic!); quick question - how long does it take to switch on average (that's from EON to I-don't-know-where just yet...). Thanks.

EDIT: I see citizens advice says "Switching to a new supplier should take around 17 days, but often takes up to 3 weeks. " Is this correct?

It all depends if the new supplier is signed up to 17 day switching so it can take 17 days to maybe 5 weeks. If you have an IGT then it may take even longer as the transfer process is all manual paperwork.

According to E.ON rep Malc in another thread, provided the new supplier inform them of the change within 20 days after the end of your fixed tariff, they will honour your current rates until the transfer completes and final bill is raised.

It which sounds too good to be true, but Hengus Confirmed that's what he meant.

  • Sorry Malc but EON only have themselves and their stupidity to blame for this Exodus.

When a company stops listening to it's customers and believes it knows better than them what they want I'm sorry but it time to leave.

Unfortunately this is like one of Baldrick's cunning plans only much much worse.

This way to the Promised Land and watch out for the sharks chaps! :D

That new tariff saves me about £1 per month over V21 and has a £60 exit fee. It really does appear that e.on doesn't want to keep its customers.

The new tariff is about 50% increase on my current e.on one and £400 pa dearer than competitors. I'm not sure I would even choose it over your variable tariff which doesn't have any exit fee.

Morning hgm and understand what you're saying. Suspect you're on either our Fixed 1 Year version 18/19 tariff or a collective we were involved with about a year ago. These tariffs were discounted special offers and only available for a limited time. They were mainly withdrawn from sale in the early part of last year. Since then the offers on our website that replaced them have been significantly more expensive. We are, though, currently reviewing our range of tariffs and services as we look to redesign our portfolio for 2017. Changes usually appear on our website first.

Also understand, this isn't much use to you at the moment as you look towards your next deal. The standard Energy Plan you mention is guaranteed not to change until at least April 17.
