That new tariff saves me about £1 per month over V21 and has a £60 exit fee. It really does appear that e.on doesn't want to keep its customers.

The new tariff is about 50% increase on my current e.on one and £400 pa dearer than competitors. I'm not sure I would even choose it over your variable tariff which doesn't have any exit fee.

I don't know in which area you live, but in my area(midlands) the new Eon fixed 1 year v4 is reasonably competitive for gas less so for electricity.

For 13,000kWh gas and 3,200kWh electricity paying by DD the prices are:

    BG standard - £1067

    Cheapest Avro - £905

    SP, Co-Op - £908

    Eon fixed 1 year v4 - £939

    Gas - 3.02p/kWh and 21.9p dsc
    Electricity 13.269p/kWh and 16.42p dsc

My V19 is up on 28th Feb. EON sent me their new tariff. I was paying £665 per year for electricity and gas. The new tariff Eon offered me was £912!!!

1 trip to compare the market later and I've now switched to Scottish power that was £810.

EON has since tried to lure me back with £912.60 tariff and £75 high street vouchers. Erm I don't think so!!!

I also want to add that I didn't want to leave Eon. Great service, tesco club card points, what's not to love!! But when I'm a full time carer and only earn £350 a month, a jump in gas and electricity of over £200 is just too much for me to absorb.

SP is coming up cheapest for me but after previous experience I will never go back to them. There are a couple of other providers I will never use either - based on my knowledge of other people's experiences.
Poor customer service can cost money as well as stress. Unfortunately it seems you get what you pay for. With Eon I have had both a good price and a decent service. The trick is going to be to match that - or at least get somewhere near.
  • My current tariff: E.ON Energy Fixed 1 Year v19 @
    £761.74 per year
    £63.48 per month

The best Eon can offer me is E.ON Saver Fixed 1 Year v4 @
    £1,003.39 per year
    £83.62 per month

That is an insane increase. What an insult. No way I am paying anything like that.

Yes, a 31.7% increase which is not dissimilar to the 32.3% increase that would have affected me had I stayed with E.ON.

In an environment in which general CPI inflation is not much above 0%, this price increase looks very odd.

Indeed, it does. The actual cost of electricity only accounts for about 36% of the bill. The rest is down to climate change, transmission costs, keeping the lights on and supplier default levies.

Don't forget the effect of Sterling devaluation brought about by the madness of 23 June 2016(IMO;))
