Why wait: Google - The Big Deal - comes out next week.

'We aren't just negotiating with any old supplier, you know. We know you want quality service too. And we're on it.

Right now, we are on the cusp of negotiating something very special. This is going to be a great deal. But with your support, it can be even better. We'll get you the deal next week.'
Sorry, I found thebigdeal but nothing about it coming out next week. Link please...

I found the site and did a comparison - as expected ~ £260 MINIMUM pa more! As above can't see anything about a collective switch coming soon??

Sign up - no obligation. E-mail received yesterday stating that they are about to announce their latest switch. They say they have 250,000 potential switchers on their books.

Sorry to lose you pineapple but fully understand why.

As version 19 ends for you on 6 February 17, you'll be inside the Price Protection window now. This is open 49 calendar days before the tariff end date until 20 working days after. Provided the new supplier applies for the account during this period, we'll make sure you stay on the cheaper prices right up to the supply end date. Exit fees also don't apply whilst inside this window.

If you time a switch to go through after the tariff end date, you'll be okay provided the new supplier has applied for the account inside the Price Protection window. Requests usually come through fairly quickly but not all suppliers have signed up to faster switching (about two and half weeks). Most have but not sure about everyone. Just something to be aware of when timing your switch.
A belated thanks for this but another question sorry.
I've been dithering about switching. Presumably if I apply to switch now, it will take a while to go through, so I would still be with Eon and would revert to a standard tariff till the new supplier takes over?

It can take a few weeks (2 - 4) weeks for a switch to go through. If your tariff ends during that switch then you will be charged the standard for the remaining days you are with them.

If your tariff ends before meter readings are requested by the new supplier. Just ring your existing supplier and give a meter reading on the day your tariff ends (changes to a standard tariff), this means they do not estimate a reading, and you are charged as little as possible for using the standard tariff during the switch.

If your [E.ON] tariff ends during that switch then you will be charged the standard for the remaining days you are with them.
UNLESS the "switch too" supplier tells E.ON within 20 workings days AFTER the E.ON tariff ends, in which case you will stay on the original tariff. Which is what Malc was trying to say in his post with the words "until 20 working days after".

This is what I don't understand.
Say I apply to switch only a few days before the tariff ends. Surely Eon won't know anything about this till contacted by the new supplier so I would automatically go onto standard tariff. What if I have a billing period overlapping the tariff end date and have already been billed at the higher rate before the new supplier gets in touch (albeit within 20 days)?
I see the Eon site is down just now. They are due to go down for maintenance on 1st Feb. I suppose it's too much to hope for that they are working on some fantastic new deals...

Correct, but E.ON have "procedures in place" to manually put you back on the original tariff. E.ON staff will confirm when they're back tomorrow. But this was previously confirmed here ->

(I believe circa end Feb 2017 is as far as any decent eon legacy deals extend),

To be fair to E.on, they do have decent legacy tariffs remaining. Mine expires towards the end of July 2018, and i suspect people just didn't want to change from v19 as it was such a good tariff?

I too, was on v19, and it was a difficult decision to make / read the energy market, at that time. However, I'm glad i did switch tariffs, (5 months into v19,) because I'm on an almost identical tariff, (gas slightly cheaper, electricity slightly more expensive, but the difference was negligible,) but i gained an extra 18 months, (in effect,) on a tariff with an energy supplier, which is not going to be beaten for some time,

It makes me wonder how many customers E.on have on this tariff? A very small percentage of it's customers, undoubtedly. I'd estimate 1% - 2%, maybe 5% at best?
Fred - Where's your get up and go?

Barney - It just got up and went.
