EON Leavers will be gathering momentum

Due to the approaching end of V19 etc those EON customers leaving will be gathering momentum and begin to show statistically in EON's customer base. I waited for a while but with no improvement have switched to First Utility. (EON you still have some time to come up with a decent tariff, but it is rapidly running out!!)

They are ranked highly for customer care. For the next few days they are offering £100 on Quidco for a dual fuel switch, and they are offering a 3 year Fix which seems to be a good proposition considering the publicity on rising costs. For me it was a good deal and far superior to anything else. I did not want to chance Iresa given the poor reviews.

Incidentally this is not my first post. I was Leblanc but could not access my account despite various attempts. I eventually gave up and re registered.

I'm surprised you are even with them at this stage bearing in mind what you wrote in July 2015

What an absolute disaster my changeover for both gas and electricity to EON has been.
The first problem arose when changing supplier from British Gas to EON at the beginning of January.....

EON promised to sort out the problem but that was back at the beginning of June. Two months later the electricity meter problem still has not been resolved ...

What should have been a 17 day changeover to a new supplier (what a joke!) is now 7 months and counting.

This is a condensed version! It does not include all the hours spent on the phone and numerous e-mails to about 5 different organisations in an effort to sort it out.................and it is still not fixed!!

...I have lost the will to live!! ...

I must be living in a different World. I currently pay £635 per year for gas and electricity. If I switched to the FU 3 year deal it would cost me £233 per year more. In other words, for the 3 years the extra cost would be £699: even with a £100 cash back this is hardly a good deal imho.

Bear in mind if the wholesale cost of electricity (which currently is the more volatile of the two commodities) doubled overnight, then your electricity bill would only rise by about a 1/3rd as wholesale costs only account for about 36% of your bill. Gas prices are static, and if EDF's recent price changes are anything to go by, are possibly falling.

i think you're overguestimating the number of people who actively switch suppliers.
Additionally I think E.On would be rather complacent about losing such low margin customers.

The problem dragged on for much longer than that, and I could not move due to the technical issues. Eventually EON sorted out everything to my satisfaction. However, I still worry that the matter is not 100% fixed, as there was a small hiccup during my transfer to First Utility.

If you look at another of my very recent posts you will note that I liked and had got used to EON's online system, as well as their rewards. Like a number of other EON customers I did not want to leave, but their current tariffs would mean an extra £350+ pa.

Good service as well as cost are important criteria. I would cancel my transfer if they produced a competitive tariff, but as tempus fugits that looks increasingly unlikely.

I take it that you are aware that Eon bar their existing customers from their cheapest Tariff?

On a comparison website enter, say, British Gas as your supplier and see what tariff Eon offers for new customers.

The best deals going for me were EDF and First Utility. Taking into account a £50 cash back for EDF they were £39.58 cheaper. Iresa was £111.58 cheaper than FU but I didn't like the negative vibes! It was gut instinct that steered me away from them.

It is difficult to predict gas and electric prices for 3 years and with Brexit and the fall in the pound it is very much crystal ball stuff. I therefore thought that £39.58 pa over 3 years was a reasonable surplus to pay over EDF's prices to have peace of mind. First Utility appears to have quite good customer ratings. However,if something better comes along in the next 13 days!!

I tested that and it is not the case. I entered an alternative family members address and the quote was the same.

I've tried that and I don't see anything other than the same E.ON Energy Fixed 1 Year v21
Dual fuel tariff that appears on their own website (whether I'm logged in or not)

Electricity is 16.422p/day and 13.398p/kWh, and gas is 21.903p/day and 3.789p/kWh, with £100/yr discount for paperless (£10), Dual fuel (£20), and Direct debit (£70 - which seems to be missing from the total on Uswitch).

This is for an S40 (East Midlands) postcode.

    What are you seeing?
3.6 kW PV in the Midlands - 9x Sharp 400W black panels - 6x facing SE and 3x facing SW, Solaredge Optimisers and Inverter. 400W Derril Water (one day). Octopus Flux

I did say in another EON post that their number crunchers may have concluded that it is more profitable to lose a tranche of customers rather than reduce tariffs for all, in order to keep the tranche.

As far as I'm aware, E.on's saver tariff v4 ended on 26th October 2016 (or thereabouts,) and i haven't seen any further saver tariffs, so which tariff are you talking about? A search (with British Gas,) only shows their standard and v21 tariffs, now available.
