Morning
Have been smashing into the cleaning this morning. Smug Bob face.
* Both big beds stripped and one load on already. Load two waiting next to machine.
* Remade DS bed, need to wait for the washing to be through to do ours (only own two mattress protectors)
* Brought the breakfast tray down.
* Unloaded DW then put it on a super hot wash empty to get rid of the crud.
* Handwashed breakfast dishes then packed away.
* Hoovered the downstairs loo and utility/kitchen floors.
* Washed floors of the above. Dried floors with old towel.
* Cleaned undersink cupboard.
* Bin out.
* Recycling out.
* Splashback cleaned and sink/draining board shined.
* Radiator shuffle and packed away dry clothing.
Non cleaning
* Checked both sets of banking
* Replied to a customer enquiry
* Keep DD entertained! Mainly involving letting her untidy what I'd tidied
Left to do,
* Hoover upstairs and lounge/dining rooms.
* Food shopping, plus post two letters
* Go and get my 150 point coupon scanned on route.
* School run
* Make steak and roast veggies for dinner. Portion enough to do steak in leftover gravy/veg with puff pastry lid in the freezer for tomorrow
* Relist eBay sales that have ended.
Back later.

Morning Campers,
Everywhere I look I can see masses of jobs which need tackling. I must be getting better, mustn't I? Quite a useful day on the money saving front so far:
*Another £5 voucher earned from surveys (survey income updated in my signature)
*Re-listed unsold ebay items. This batch is getting very hard to shift. Think it's time of year as I successfully shifted quite a lot of very similar stuff last year. Anyway, free listings.
*Paid CC.
*Updated grocery budget & paid last grocery shopping bill off CC (only used for vouchers) Discovered error in grocery budget which for once works in our favour. Our budget runs from 27th of the month to close of 26th, then 27th is pay day, so new budget, etc. I had marked January down as a '5 week month' in terms of our grocery shops....i.e 5 instead of 4 shopping days because of where the dates fall. Sorry if this sounds complicated, it might be specific just to how we work things. Anyway, I was working out how much money we'd got left for the remaining 3 shops in January & realised that there are actually only 2 shops left till out new budget. It's actually February where we will have the 5 shopping days. This is a bit of a complicated way of saying we've got £56.16 left for each of them, instead of the £37.44 I thought we'd got. A coughing fit then ensued.....must have been the excitement!
*Sorted clean dry laundry & only ironed what really needed it.
*Birthday card & stamp found from stores for a birthday this weekend that was almost overlooked because of the Birthday Card Sorter in Chief having been poorly.
*Worked out whether it's worth it financially to renew a 'Friends' membership we have for a local historic garden. It's increased a little, but it still works out a saving for us as we only have to visit a minimum of 3 times (we always go more than this) to be in credit. Will go ahead with it but will leave writing the cheque till nearer pay-day. I don't like to erode the little 'cushion' I leave in our current account each month, as that's our first line of defence in an (admittedly minor) emergency.
*Checked current meal plan & took out of the freezer what we will be eating tomorrow night. Pre- LBM, so many of our naughty & expensive take-aways used to be simply because we hadn't remembered to defrost what we'd planned to eat. Being organised is No 1 in my Money Saving arsenal.
Still to do:
* Make butternut squash soup.
*Sort out my little notebook of sign-ons........yes, all those passwords, etc, that we used to be told we should never write down......but that was before you needed one for absolutely everything, even a loyalty card you use twice a year or an online wool shop. Current book falling to bits, in no logical order (thus wasting my time) & contains sign-ons for stuff I no longer require. Intended to buy a new notebook & re-do from scratch, but have found a pretty book I don't use much so am going to re-purpose that & save a couple of quid.
*Re-purpose a diary. Mum gave me a nice A5 size diary for Christmas. It's really nice, but I'd already bought my filofax inserts (well, not branded ones, obviously!) & made them all up so I wasn't sure I'd be able to use the diary as well. Then realised I needed a new food tracker book, now that we're back on the healthy eating with a vengeance, so the new diary is perfect.....just need to fill in calorie targets on the relevant days & select brave days where I might feel mentally strong enough to get on the scales!
*Knit more sock. I don't think I can quite finish the current pair today, but I am going to get as close as possible. 2 pairs of this order still to knit.
*Tiny bit of mending to do.
*Might start next week's meal plans if I feel inspired.
*A charity shop bag came through the door & will be pressed into service this afternoon as a bin bag. I always take my stuff direct to the charity shops as we've had issues in our village with some bags being less 'charity' based than many donors would like, if they bothered to read the small print.
OK, that's me. Think I will go & make some lunch & see if cat intends moving today.

Hi All
Determined I didn't read the thread this morning before posting, to see your mention of today being Friday. So unsure of myself was I that I had to quickly check my diary to reassure myself that I wasn't having a senior moment
Carrie Ha ha busy Bob.
A few other things I shoe horned in.
* Took my roadkill pot to Mr T whilst scanning my voucher. Used it to buy a bag of salad for 89p reduced from £1 not a huge saving but it was on my shopping list so I would have paid for it anyway. Basically free to me via careless people's pennies.
* Took a bag of clothing I was going to take to the charity shop to the collection bin at Mr S as I was going that way anyway. Another 10 items leaving my house.
* Found a tin of soup for 39p instead of 50p because it was dented. As I had soup on my list I bought it. So a genuine saving. Not huge but as the slogan goes....
Think that's it again. Load 3 now in the washing machine, it was a lot more than I thought at first look. Load 2 drying.
It's persisting it down here and I am really not looking forward to to the school run. But upsides, DD is napping! I am sat down for 30 mins, the house is clean and I have dinner planned.

Afternoon all
Horrible weather here, pouring with rain (again). Went out this morning, so have found indoor jobs for this afternoon! Came back to find that OH had hoovered the downstairs and middle floors :A
So far I have:
Restocked sales unit
Posted 3 ebay parcels
Had my hair cut (not moneysaving, but sorely needed :eek:)
Bought cheap Nicky loo paper from pound shop instead of paying supermarket prices, not sure why SM own brands are so much dearer than Nicky, which is equally as good if not better :huh:
HM soup for lunch
Put old carpet down in conservatory, grotty but helps avoid dogs and people walking in mud etc
Cleaned top floor spare bedroom / ensuite ready for DS to move in after the weekend. Not sure how I feel about this
Emptied the airing cupboard onto our bed :eek:
Emptied a huge blanket chest in the spare bedroom to maximise storage for DS
Moved furniture around downstairs to make more space (and I fancied a move around, as I do periodicallyHave to wait till OH is in a receptive mood for this, as our furniture is old and heavy and I can't move most of it on my own.
OH is cooking the £8 reduced turkey I bought the other day
Still to do:
Put away mountain of clean washing currently on our bed :eek:
Put away miscellaneous 'stuff' out of a cupboard we moved from the dining room into the lounge, as the dining table currently isn't visible, let alone useable :eek:
Do some veg to go with turkey
Check post office online account to make sure my parcels have been processed!
Check banks - haven't done this since before Christmas :eek:0 -
Ooops not very mse... a bit of a spendy day.
- £20 on new jeans for me (from my pocket money though)
- £27 on a new waistcoat for OH (partially Christmas money and partially his pocket money)
- £10 exercise pants for me (pocket money)
- £91 home studio speakers for OH (we have been researching this though and he insists that now he will be able to write amazing music and sell it for millions (I also saw a flying pig then...
)
- £6.99 new cable for home studio stuff

Afternoon all! Sorry I've been AWOL for a few days! I've had a spendy few days, not very MSE
It's not great at all, I've hopefully sold my car though, I'm waiting for a message from one of my hubby's friends to let me know! Fingers crossed that will be a touch of good luck. Today I've been to the doctors with DS and picked up a few bits from Iceland which is only down the road from the doctors. Today I have/will:
- Do a load of washing and tumble dry, the weather is horrible here! - Need to wait for DH to get home
- Bump some things I'm selling on FB
- A quick tidy around
- B/L/D from home
Anyway I think that's all! Hope everyone is ok x

How's your little'un Katy-ann? Hope all is well and good
Evening :hello: Not done too badly today :j
* took soup from freezer and home made bread to work for lunch :j Need to be inventive for tomorrow as I've run out of fruit and yogurt at work - will have a rummage and see what I've got at home. Still figuring out how much of things I need for the week
* paid £12 for discount card for a year through work - sounds daft but it's been well worth it this year, saves me 80p every time I go on the bus if nothing else :money:
* very nearly ordered some magazine files to use at work - but then found a pack of 10 in the stationery cupboard :j Swiped them all (but I did replace with loads of other bits of stationery I'm now not using!)
* Mr Cheery has gone slightly off piste with the meal plan the last couple of days :eek: :rotfl: Need to get us back on track with pizza tomorrow - going to take the dough out of the freezer tonight just to make sure
* will check banks/YNAB later
That's it I think :j Have a good evening all0 -
1LuckyLady wrote: »Morning all,

Today's list
* Kids went to school breakfast club
* Been to gym, done 30 mins on treadmill - got to get back into making the most of the membership
* Clean kitchen using stardrops/washable cloth
* All meals from stores, plenty of left over meatball concoction left!
* Iron only what needs doing, hang the rest straight away
* Wash a load on 30 degree quick wash
* Meet a friend for a cuppa later as I'm aware that when my mood drops I tend to shut out the rest of the world. Will use costalot points so won't spend cash
* Kids to swimming later, will leave purse in the boot of my car and will take some fruit from home for them as they're always hungry after school.two apples ready in the car
* Check banking/spreadsheets
* Check fpl/lucky/numberplate
* Search on inbox$'s
* Withdraw from p1nec0ne£5 amaz0n ordered
* Check tcb/quidco
* Make families lunches for tomorrow
** Cleaned the kitchen bin out in the bath with some stardrops, I've been putting it off for ages as its really fiddly at the bottom but it was smelly bleughhhh but done now and left in the bath to drain. Will wipe out properly later to dry it off.:)
** A 2nd load in to the washing machine on the quick wash, and radiator shuffle done
** Applied make up & perfume from my use up box
A couple of other small things
* A colleague of dh's has given him a blue ray dvd player that he didn't want (we already have one but can use it in the kids playroom) he wouldn't accept anything for it, I think he's decluttering his house as he gave hubby a load of dvds before xmas too! (We did get him a nice little thank you gift at xmas)
* Our little tv in our bedroom is on its last legs, the stand is broken and we've had it stuffed with toilet roll inners for the last 4-5 yrs to hold the screen up. My dad has dropped their little tv that they had in their bedroom for us to have as they never use it and are redecorating their bedroom and wanted the space back
* Another load of washing done on quick 30 degree wash
* 4 baths out of one lot of hot water & continuing using up various open lotions and potions
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Hey! :wave: :coffee:
Hope everyone is ok. Foxgloves - I'm really pleased to hear that you're starting to feel more like you're old self. And Katy Ann - so pleased little man is feeling better.
I'm pretty worn out considering it's only the second week back. I think I'm definitely not 100% physically but I'm not sure if I'm ill or just tired.
Today has been another busy day for me at work. I'm making sure I don't waste a minute of my free time there because I don't want to fall behind. I had one free today and I planned for next week during it. Only really time for me to do the very basics as far as mse is concerned. Checked banking, PAD to money box and daily housework jobs.
I've had a spendy day as well, which I hadn't intended to, but ds broke his schoolbag and I needed to replace that as it couldn't be fixed. And then while I was out I used a half price voucher to get me and the kids some dinner. Naughty, but it's saved me a job and at least I know the kids have eaten properlyNot giving up
Working hard to pay off my debt
Time to take back control
