Glad Foxgloves and Katy-Anns little man are on the mend.
Up at 6.15am, few chores before work. Paid stuff no. 1 then straight to paid stuff no. 2, tea eaten, DS2 to footie, called at Lidl, picked up DS2, home to do a few more chores and empty dw. Now I have a report to finish and e-mail which I should be getting on with. Very very tired!
Oh and now the boys are arguing, which very rarely happens to be fair but I had better see what's going on.0 -
Hi all, busy again at work today but mama fed a few things:
- took packed lunch to work. I was sorely tempted to buy some over priced crisps or chocolate from the vending machine but managed to put it to the back of my mind! Yay!
- found 5 pence on the floor leaving work
- free postcode lottery
That's all for me, LP xCompetition wins £14,136.30[\COLOR]0 -
Evening all!
Breakfast was all from my work store drawer again today.
At lunch time I went to collect the toys I'd ordered from John Lewis, it was piddling down but I'm not at work tomorrow and it was getting close to the point they would send them back.
I also made a pilgrimage to the lower ground floor (china, glass and stationery) and didn't buy anything but did buy some McJunk for lunch on the way back.
We had a meeting at work today which was pretty much 'thanks for all the hard work, by the way, it's going to be getting harder' and the job freeze was confirmed as well as a freeze on freelancers. I'm bizarrely not overly worried, I think they will probably *have* to have extra help, freeze or no freeze and even if not I'm pretty committed to doing something else anyway.
Dinner tonight was pasta which was yummy, I had seconds and then, ahem, thirds:rotfl: (yes, that is me rolling around there)
I'm supposed to be driving my mum to a funeral tomorrow but I don't want to take the chance with snow and sub zero temperatures so have just sent some flowers instead. Expensive but not as expensive as car repairs to my new (to me) and unfamiliar car.
DS has his driving theory test tomorrow, I must remind him (again) to swot up on it, fingers crossed
Heating is staying on overnight tonight, I have turned the thermostat down a little but has to be cheaper than frozen/burst pipes.

Hi January Jubilants,
Today is a day off...:j
Fighting a wee crisis of confidence. Yes I can...yes, I can...yes I can...
I have so much to do I'd better get on with it.
Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:
* It's pay day so will start with moving money around.
* Transfer food budget to DW.
* Pay rent.
* Reclaim the Study from DW's clutter. There could be treasure in there and I'd never know.
* Get DW to find out how much her dental treatment is going to be. It won't be cheap. Sigh.
* Check Nectar points and load offers to card. I can get double points on fuel and extra points at local Sainsbury's. If you login to www.nectar.com you can see what offers you have.
* Contemplate getting hair cut at local salon. I look derelict and I will need it for a forthcoming promotion interview. Hoping I can get shorn for under £20. I usually do it myself so this will be a rare departure from the double mirror and clippers approach.
* Got £8.09 off electricity/gas bill through Co-op loyalty scheme. We'll have enough in the account to cover the next bill with some left over.
* Reactivate Skype credit.
* Clear emails.
Live long, live well and prosper.

Morning
ally I've been eyeing your holiday savings recently. You've done so well over a relatively short period of time! When are you planning to go away?
Yesterday I had a mare with my car. It started stalling, juddering and I couldn't get any omph to it. Was quite worrying as I work about 25 miles away, it was snowing, the batteries on both my phones were dying, I have to drive on dual carriage ways home. Managed to get half way then realised I was near to the garage where my car was last repaired. so managed to get it there - and honestly it wouldn't have gone much further as it started stalling violently - and abandoned it! Got oh to come and get me and texted the mechanic to say it was there! Hoping it's not going to be too expensive....
So plans changed for today! Will be partially working at home and taking the afternoon off. Bit of a ballache as have 3 meetings today, 2 of which are fairly important for the clientsbut can't be helped and to be honest I really don't do very well driving in bad conditions so probably worked out for the best. Saving 70 miles in petrol...
Things for today:
* be super efficient and get my outstanding work done
* all meals from stores
* madam being looked after by oh's parentals so £35 savings right off the bat
* chicken out of freezer for satay chicken tonightnot sure what veg I can rustle up with it!
* will ask oh to pick up milk (forgot yesterday!) and a paper for the holiday token.
* call Inland Rev to get log in details reset so I can do tax return
* will make a start on tax return this afternoon
* book ms assignment for tomorrow
That's all I can think of right now! Probably be more later. Happy Friday guys - it is Friday today riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigggggggggggggggght??! :rotfl:DF as at 30/12/16

Morning all,
I expect some of us will see some snow today. Icy morning here, a speedy snow shower which has now turned to big rain. Today's money saving:
*Clean whole house using minimal products & washable cloths.
*Do a couple of tasks which dropped off yesterday's list.
*Finish meal plans. I know what we're having, just need to get it neatly onto paper.
*Write shopping list.
*Cast on next pair of socks on my current order.
*Pack some free resources away which mr f found while clearing his work office.
*Change towels, household linens etc & load into washer for cheap overnight cycle.
*Wearing extra layer so as not to need the downstairs heating on too quickly.
*Dinner as per meal plan....turkey chilli from freezer which I batch-cooked from festive leftovers.
*Use it up.....have diluted kitchen & bathroom handsoaps to get the last bit out.
*NSD & all free leisure today
Stay warm, everyone. I can feel the difference my extra layer is making already.

DNMS - Sorry to hear about your car. Hope it"s not a horrible big bill.
Ally - Re hair cut. I often adk for a 'Dry cut' which costs me around £10.....one local salon charges just £8 for this. I don't feel as pampered without the wash & blow-dry/styling but it's much quicker & hugely cheaper.

Thanks. I'll bear that in mind...though I could probably do with having my head blasted with a Karcher Power Washer...:rotfl:Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

I've been doing well as I've had no time to spend any money. :rotfl: We don't know when we're going to be able to go away, depends on how my work progresses.Debt-free day: 8th May 2015 "Remember that sometimes not getting what you want is a wonderful stroke of luck," Dalai Llama0 -

Batteries are many times less efficient in cold weather due to the reduced speed of the chemical reaction that powers them.
You can get some extra charge into batteries by warning them in your hands. Take your rings off first to avoid shorting the terminals. I've done this up mountains on occasion: first I've poured coffee from my flask into my cup and warmed my hands by holding the cup. Then hold the battery in my hands for 5 mins.
