  • Morning. Just pulling the wagon up alongside CCL and gathering her back up. We all do it, don't beat yourself up. In fact maybe it's good to do it occasionally just to remind yourself how well you are doing.

Hmmm vets, our rescue dog has quite severe allergies and is traumatised by the vet. We were so grateful to our vet who advised against spending a fortune trying to pin down the exact allergies because it would be very distressing for him and he would probably still need medication. A lot of vets do seem to want to do treatments that might not actually be necessary.

    Hope doggie is ok LaE.

Planning a day at home. DH has ripped up the old vinyl flooring that has been in the utility and Ds loo for 15+ years. We already have the new tiles. This is very exciting.

    Hi everyone

Yip, CCL - exactly that! The thing is with all our house moves etc he's been with loads of vets and this one isn't even convenient any more so I think we'll just find another one close by. Anyway, hoping that can be the end of all the scares and it will just get better... BTW, that online yarn shop you mentioned is awesome - thank you!

    In good small things news....
:) I was v fortunate to have the £££ for vet bills and it didn't go on credit card :T
:) I got 'free' gloves - sent a cashmere jumper I found in a CS to that co that recycles them - only cost me postage and now I have lovely cashmere gloves for a jumper I didn't want :T
:) I made HM soup - v cheap, easy and convenient - we will get our veg portions! :)
:) We went to cost co the other day and bought lots of beef and chicken - will batch cook and portion for the freezer ;)
:) Need to get up to date YNAB-wise
:) Plan new kitchen - money-wise as will help our house value...right?!
    :) Knitting socks
:) Night in - not on pal's hen do :o

DNMS - we used to have the breakdown cover where you pay all costs up front and then claim it back from them if you use it. Think Martin recommended it... Now we have the basic RAC cover because I had to buy it under slight duress (other 'included with car' cover had just expired and I was driving to Scotland and got mild panic before I left the house!) but will do more research next year.

    Morning all,

Well the new radiator was fitted yesterday but unfortunately its not working properly! arrgghhh
Will have to wait and see when they can get back to us now to have another look.

Not sure what today's plans are for us yet as I would just like to hibernate but the sky is lovely and blue so I know hubby wants to get out for a bit. I just hope its not a spendy one!

    Back later with a list.

    Happy Saturday all.
Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.
  • Yeah La e I need to look into it further as you will know (embarrassed face) I am drawn to the lower cost for obvious reasons but don't want to be caught short. The autoaid is the same one and I think they do home repairs, collection and taking car to garage of your choice and then take you on to another destination. I bet the basic will be to nearest garage and then you're on your own!

Just had text from mechanic car is £160 for service and repair  (no doubt would have been a lot more at a regular garage!

    Morning all!

Was AWOL yesterday. We just seemed to be very busy. I'm not sure what's up with me today. I feel very grumpy. Not helped by getting an email from a colleague who compared my one of my final data files to all my working files and queried why they didn't match?! (The final one is final for a reason!!).

My bargain (but still quite expensive) new curtains arrived yesterday. We've hung them and I like them but I'm not sure that the windows look quite right... the old curtains were very dark and these are very light. Also there's no valance now and I'm wondering if it's missing it. I'm going to give myself a couple of weeks to adjust and then re-think it.

    Anyway, today's mission:
    • B/L/D from stores
    • Charge phone in work - done.
    • OH to do the housework and strip the bed - done.
    • Take OH to opticians for new glasses. Plastic ones this time because he chuffs up the paint on the frames so badly (am not sure how!) - done. Frames plus lenses a bargain at £45 thus allowing him his reactalights (another £70). These are very crucial for him as he's very light sensitive.
    • Juice and slice marmalade oranges
    • Take curtain rings back to Dunhelm as found a better colour elsewhere
    • Try to not be grumpy
    • Order yarn for commission now it is back in stock - done.
Will add more as I go

    Have a good one all

Ah DNMS, you reminded me of breakdown cover - just went looking to see where my breakdown cover cashback was up to and it never tracked - just read the Ts and Cs and the policy has to be in my name but OH put it in his name because he was booking it!
  • just done my meal plan - b/l/ds and a titchy shopping list :) of 2x bread, 2 x noodles, a tin of beans and some milk. sub £5 I reckon :money:

Hi all, had a lovely lay in I was absolutey cream crackered so it was definatley needed. My DD is pretending its Christmas Day again because there is snow outside! So we're wearing Christmas jumpers and drinking hot chocolate with our hot water bottles!

Meant to be doing a Market Research today but not sure I'll be able to do it.

It amazes me what people will buy on eBay, I found an iPod box in the house (we've sold the iPod ages ago) and they are going for £10 on eBay! Will get that listed pronto. Since I found the box I keep seeing things around the house I can sell! Will need to muster some time and energy to do that!

So I'm going to check my bank accounts and see that everything has moved around the various banks okay and I'm going to activate blue rewards on my Barclays account. Also need to pay my CC and update my signature.

I've got a stack of competitions to enter in my email box so I'll start on that and then FPL.

I need to wash my dry clean only dress in the bath.

Think that's all for today, LP x

  • I think we have 2 rattling around somewhere LP. Will dig them out and list :) thanks for the heads up x
