    Hi all
Pretty shattered, woke at 3am and decided to log on and do some work! Managed to go back to bed at 4am and get a couple more hours. Feeling worn out now. Been in meetings all day, I haven't stopped.
    - Made sandwiches with leftover chicken from Sunday Roast and took fruit and yoghurt to work.
    - Free coffee at work.
    - FPL
    - Stopped at the Co-op on the way home and got a YS Quiche - I'm really not quite sure whether YS shopping always saves you money. The Quiche was £2.49 reduced to £1.59 so a 90 pence saving. BUT a quiche from Aldi is £1.29. So am I YS shopping the wrong things??
That's it for me, LP x

LP the Co0p nr us doesn't seem to reduce things at a set time, sometimes we've been late at night and it would have been the £1.59 like you had or we got a quiche from them a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday morning and it was reduced to 79p. I would only buy ys if its a decent chunk off full price (for non standard purchases) or an item that I would happily pay full price for, for instance I usually get a meat joint on my Tesc0 delivery every week, getting it on a delivery means I am happy to pay the £5 for it, however if I call in at Mr T and see its reduced by anything I would buy it as it would be cheaper then I would normally be able to buy it for. (I don't know if that makes sense to anyone else! but I know what I mean! haha)
My main ys co0p purchases are
    sandwich meat
    yogurts
    bread items
    potatoes
    pizza
    whole chickens

  • Mmm, LuckyPenny I know what you mean, there is a temptation to buy YS things just because they are reduced. I try to be sensible about it, will it make a meal, would I buy it anyway, is it reduced enough? Not always easy though!

Late check in for me but a productive day here. Full day of paid stuff, chilli and jackets for tea, washing over airer, been to gym class (paid in advance).

The flushing mechanism on our 1 year old bathroom loo has broken, DH has found a new part on the internet for £15 and is confident he can fix it. Phew!

Foxgloves glad you are on the mend, my sore throat seems to be clearing up but I didnt sleep very well last night so I am tired now.

Hope you get the loo fixed yorkshire lass

LuckyPenny, our Co-op has rubbish reductions  My favourite was a galaxy ripple, reduced from 39p to... 39p :rotfl: But even broken, dented boxes of cereal with the inside sellotaped will be reduced by about 20p  But we did once get a load of posh razor cartridges reduced from about £8 a box  to £2.39 :money: I buy reduced stuff if it *feels* like enough of a bargain (unless I would have bought it anyway) - usually veg or bread for me.

Pretty sure I had a list but I think it's over a page ago now and I can't be bothered to go back and find it :o Some things I've done...

    - had home made soup and bread for lunch. The soup was worryingly horrid - worrying because I have another two portions in the freezer! Got one out to defrost and going to try to rescue it now ready for tomorrow
    - popped into a couple of charity shops looking for something specific - first time in Uber Frugal January and I was SO tempted! Easy to see where my dosh usually goes  Had to back out very quickly  But I did manage to avoid spending anything :D
    - painted top coat on kitchen cladding :j will be able to put the shelves back tomorrow (probably in an hour or so, but I'll be too tired by then :o )

NEED to go and sort out the house insurance now - been putting it off for days and I do NOT want it to autorenew!
  • :hello: late post (again) none stop all day, but progress made:

Cleaned shelf of fridge that was empty
    DW and WM on overnight
Chased refund for clothes that I send back nearly 6 weeks ago
Checked pay in full credit card payment had been received
Used rind of blue cheese for salad topping for lunch tomorrow
Chopped apple that had returned bruised from several packed lunches and put in freezer
    Froze mozzarella ball
    2 ys items in freezer
Used leftover veg in sc, plus some stock that was left from last night risotto and end of a jar of mango chutney. Made lovely stew (even if it looked a bit odd ;))
Pad to savings (90p :D) plus daily payment to 1p savings fund. Over £30 already this year, updated my spreadsheet :D

day off today :j probably taking madam to a play group to get her out of the house. Will go to the library on the way home and then some kind of art session this afternoon. We do art like every day and her abilities have really come on recently. She drew a person that had all the things needed, arms, legs, a face and hair :) Should be no or low cost :money:

Going to go for a jog this morning before oh leaves for work

made a goulash in the sc last night, so woke up to lovely aroma! Will use the last of the sour cream ;)

[STRIKE]load of washing[/STRIKE] - seems never ending at the moment! Can't seem to get on top of it...

if we do go to the play group I'll be passing a1di so will pick up coffee, squash and super 6 fruit

[STRIKE]reply to ms follow up email[/STRIKE]

    [STRIKE]checked banks[/STRIKE]

    [STRIKE]updated frugal living ss[/STRIKE]

    [STRIKE]read Martin's email[/STRIKE]

    [STRIKE]applied for a ms assignment £10 fee[/STRIKE]

Looking into whether I could do another which would be £30 but need to check work diary to see if I could take a morning or afternoon off of work. would be toil not al as I did 3 extra hours last week :D

[STRIKE]make the pizza at last! That said need to make oh something for his lunch[/STRIKE](if I don't he never thinks creatively re food and will end up buying something...)

might finally get round to listing some items on fleabay....

start the herculean task of doing my tax return....

[STRIKE]call energy supplier and give meter readings[/STRIKE]

  • Things have to be quite a substantial % off for me with ys items. Like on Sunday I got 400grms diced beef 99p from £3.99, 400grms chicken breasts 89p from £3.99, 2 large pork chops 79p, 2 x pizzas @ 79p e (regular price was £3 but to be honest I wouldn't pay that as know I could get one for 99p in a1di). I'm trying to get to know when the stores near me have their best reductions and go during those times. Mostly for me to take a punt on something experimental it has to be a good deal. I managed to get 2 venison steaks just before xmas for £1.49, I haven't had venison before. Regular price was £5 but I wouldn't pay that! I guess it really helps that I only work pt so I feel I have more energy and am prepared to go out at 9pm. I know when I was working in a pressurised job with long hours I would have rather paid more for convenience.

It also helps that I'm a bit obsessive so remember prices of things and if I know I can get it for less in a1di or lid1 I won't bother

    Morning folks!

Foxgloves - I hope this is the end of your flu!

I've been on the phone to Npower this morning. After updating my tariff, I had an email saying "As agreed we're increasing your direct debit from £60 pcm to £75pcm". Agreed my bottom! To cap it all off apparently they will take my first payment on 1st Dec 2016! they'll be lucky!! :D
All sorted now, dd back down to £60!

    Today's mission
    • B/L/D from stores. Enormous piece of brisket in the SC. Looks amazing. Can't believe we haven't gone off plan yet!
    • Return parcel and pay Christmas money into bank at lunch time - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Try to fix the telly. It won't connect to the internet.
    • Heating off or not on til 7pm
Erm, must be more than that? Will add during the day!

Stay safe in this windy weather

Bit Baltic here today - but heating will not go on until 4 as per normal. Will shortly set wood burner for DH coming in tonight.

Glad to hear peeps are feeling better and things are plodding along.

    Today's wee listy:-
    • All meals from stores / fridge
    • Must make soda bread today
    • Make sure all bins are round the back in preparation for wind / snow possibly due in over the next few days
    • Continue with deep clean of bathroom (was cleaning grout with a nailbrush above the bath the other day & managed to knock the cold tap on - left me sitting in a cold bath in my jeans :p)
    • Couple of forms to fill out for DH
    • Walk dogs once next door's delivery has been delivered to me (she's out for the day)
    • Try and do a bit of Mindfulness but might be too jittery for this (reaction to increased meds)

There is not a lot to be done but it seems to be all I can manage these days

    Take care folks
