  • For those of us who are posting the 3 things you're grateful for, I thought I'd bring this to your attention.

    I listen to Tim Ferris' podcast and he refers to a diary called the 5 Minutre Journal. I believe the idea is you take 5 mins in the morning and 5 mins in the night to plan, reflect and be grateful on your day. Then once you've done this for an extended period of time, you notice patterns. Say adventure or seeing a certain cousin.

    I looked to buy the journal however IIRC it was around £20, and I grudge paying that for a notebook however it's on my list and could be swayed.

    Thought I'd bring it to your attention.

    So sorry to hear your news Toni'sFriend.

    NSD today #5 - in fact I am returning some things to a shop for a refund, so money going back into the account from last week.

    Today I am grateful
    1- none of us are ill
    2 - DS1 knows what options he wants to take and seems quite 'head together' about the whole thing.
    3 - DH is home. I am lucky to be married to someone who actually seems to like me, which is handy, cos I like him quite a lot too.

    So sorry to hear the news Toni'sfriend x

    Spends at A1di today and Half0rds (new inner tube for DS1's bike and Adblue for OH's car - was a good price) Thought we were going to have to buy a new steam gen iron at approx. £150 when I couldn't find the receipt to ours (bought last March and last night it tripped the electrics and started spewing water from the bottom) - brainwave led me to searching my MFW diary (thought perhaps I may have mentioned it on there) - where I said I'd bought it from Amaz0n - call to them and the m'facturer later and I have a replacement arriving tomorrow:T:T:j:j Yeay!

    Also spent £2 on 2 x B00ts lunch meal deals, courtesy of O2 moments, so can't say all food today was from stores! :o

    Today I am grateful for:
    * Last night's Sherlock :)
    * My MFW diary
    * fab customer service from Amaz0n :T

    Hello Everyone
    Back on track. Went for a walk through the park and managed no alcohol or snacks.
    Did spend as we needed some hand wash and tins of tomatoes and got some YS bargains. Have calculated 6 NSDs. Not great - will have to try and do better.
    Did all the washing and ironed everything that was dry and put it all away. Changed all the bedding. Made soup for tomorrow's lunch and prepared meal plan for the rest pf the week. Cleared all the litter from the communal area behind the block. A whole bin bag full - I think I'm the only one who does it. I know it's caused mainly by passersby throwing things over the fence but it's not just my problem! Anyway, it was a productive day.
    Today I'm grateful for;
    A lovely walk to clear my head
    The lentil soup to warm me up
    and especially for being on this thread with all the lovely. supportive people that you are.
    Have a good evening,
    Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

    Evening!

    First off... Toni's Friend and Calling - massive hugs. It made me think how lucky I am to have my siblings around - though I don't see them as much as I would like to... and I guess I take them being there for granted. I guess that can be said for a lot in life. Thank you both for sharing as you have - it means a lot. This time of year can be tough at the best of times - so sending you both extra hugs. I've lost all my grandparents, and a few cousins - and it's hard - but I still chat to them occasionally (and they thought they'd get some peace when they went!!!) and I tried to see them passing as just moving on to the next stage - wherever that is. I know we all have different beliefs - but it gives me some comfort.

    Today I am grateful for:
    i) Everybody on this thread. What a team!
    ii) The birdsong that woke me up this morning.
    iii) My family - for their love and support

    So... mid month already!!! XSpender - I liked the idea of a mid-month review... great idea... So without further a-do...

    Today = NSD number 09/20 (still!)
    Grocery = £42.03/£80 and Spends = £76.76/£80 - I'm going to have to tighten my belt a bit over the next 2 weeks! Managed to save a fair bit, and pay a little off my cards - though still hovering around 2K. Will try and make more of a dent next month. Gym/Walks and meditation progress going to plan! All in all not too shabby :)

    Have a good evening folks x

  • Evening everyone :hello:
    Not feeling great tonight - I didn't sleep well last night so haven't been brilliant today. I've just kind of survived at work. But I couldn't be bothered with the behaviour of a lot of the kids to be honest and I have been more than a little bit grumpy. Definitely looking forward to an early night tonight.
    As for working from home, FMess, I try and be quite militant about it. I stay at work every night until 5pm and I don't do more than 4 hours over the weekend at home. The only other work stuff I do at home is looking for resources online and emailing photocopying. It's really tough because I'm never, ever done, but I'm entitled to as much of a life as anyone else.
    Today I am grateful for:
    The prospect of an early night
    Being able to have a cuddle with the kids
    Resisting the temptation of a takeaway, even though I'm shattered.

    Today I am grateful for my warm coat, for getting home for free (lift part way from lovely colleague + oyster reader not working + 20 min walk), for great cuddles with dd when I got in, for my considerate and caring dh, for the days getting a little longer.

    One of my 2017 goals is to sell dad's house and house mum wherenshe can be well looked after. Written all in one sentence, it sounds easy peasy! We are taking baby steps, but at least we are still moving forward, however slightly we seem to move.

    Toni'sfriend - big hugs.

    Speky - if the football, gym, etc are regular events, why not treat them like we do kids' events that have to be paid for per session: plan ahead and set aside the money for them, then you don't lose an nsd for them.

    So... mid month already!!! XSpender - I liked the idea of a mid-month review... great idea... So without further a-do...

    I can't take the credit for the mid month review it was Misstara's idea this morning. I thought it was a good idea too :):)

    Today I have eaten on plan and done a new circuit class with a friend. My legs are like tab ash as we would say in the NE.

    I felt very headachy earlier today and to be honest I didn't get much work done. We had some unexpected news about a colleague leaving our team which I think had us all out of sorts.

    I have used most of the amazon gift vouchers I got from work today on 2 curtain track joining pieces, a head torch for dog walking/running and some bottle brushes to clean the protein shake bottles as they are a booger to clean. Still have about £7 left :) Also spent £3 on my exercise class.

    I will be getting up early tomorrow to get some Italian beef and sausage stew in the slow cooker for DH, dye my hair, do a bit of housework and crack on with the work I should have got through today. I didn't go to the bank or the salon so will add that to tomorrow's list too.

    In financial news DH has cancelled a subscription and DFIL has asked to pick DS up from school everyday instead of us using afterschool club. We will increase what we pay them but it will save us money in the long run and DS is pleased.

    Today I am grateful for:

    1) My friend inviting me to attend the class with her, I really enjoyed it
    2) DH cancelling the monthly subscription off his own back
    3) My lovely little boy
