Yesterday was a NSD (?8) and I ran home from work
Now that we're half way through the month, I would like everyone to think again about their goals for the end of the year - what small steps they have taken towards them so far and what the next small step is.
My goals are to run a 10k and be debt free. So far I have signed up to do a 10k in April, enlisted some friends to train with and my lovely sister has said that she will run the 10k with me. Next I plan to look online for a training schedule and actually organise training with friends. So far this year, I've paid around £30 to my debt just from rounding down my accounts and just waiting for payday to pay off more. I also plan to phone 2nd job today to see if I can pick up a shift at the weekend for a bit of extra cash.Mortgage 26.4.25 - £108,500 1.8.25 - £106,362.86
Mortgage overpayment savings - £3.33/£50
Mortgage overpayments so far - £675.980 -
On Sunday I was grateful for:
1) Spending time with my DM and DSD
2) DH cleaning the hall carpet and vacuuming the stairs. It looks great
3) The community at DS's Rugby Club
Yesterday wasn't a NSD as I paid £1 for a raffle at the club we were away to. I suppose this will count towards my charity donation. I have offered to do a similar thing when we are playing at home for our club so will be donating some of my time this month and also a donation for a cancer charity for dry January.
Today I am WFH as I have a proposal and a squillion emails to write. At lunch I will nip into the village to pay in a cheque and have a sunbed (I know, I know).
Tonight I am at a new exercise class with a friend so will be spending again.
MID MONTH REVIEW
My 2017 goals are about paying off a big chunk of our debt and improving my diet.
I have not stuck to my healthy eating plan last week due to the amount of travelling I did so this week will be better as I am only away Wed/Thurs and will be eating well but not strictly on plan on Thursday. I also missed a few evening meals last week which is one of the areas I need to focus on going forward. I will add 'eat 3 meals a day' to my habit tracker in my bullet journal.
We have paid all the minimum payments to our debts but have had some extra expenses I have covered from savings. £670 paid off in total. My biggest win in sticking to our budget has been saying no to DH. We also agreed that our mini break will be our birthday gifts this year.My biggest fail is the overspend on the food budget which would have meant the extra expenses wouldn't have had to come out of savings so this is my focus going forward in to next month and damage limitation is in place for this month. I will be listing the freezer and cupboards this week as I haven't got round to it yet.
Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
Make £2021 extra income - £99.750 -
Good morning everyone,
The weekend went by without collecting a NSD. I did however meal plan and cook quite a lot of things so I shouldn't spend on food for at least another 5 days. Planned spends are tonight and Wednesday on football (£3.50). I can live with that.0 -
Morning all.
I bought some bike oil and lube yesterday and also some cleaning products that I can't get at the supermarket - oh and some mini Daim bars - woops.
DH needs to order some fencing as quite a bit of ours suffered in the gales last week. Filled my car up with gas yesterday and a bit of petrol in it too.
I'm not expecting to spend any money today though.Debt Free and now a saver, conscious consumer, low waste lifestyler

Thank you all for your good wishes. Last year we came back from Amsterdam in early January to the news that C's sister had terminal cancer. Yesterday, having just returned on Friday, I got the same news about my brother. It was a terrible shock as, on both occasions, neither of them had shown signs of illness. We just have to be strong and help as best we can.
Today I am trying to get back to normal. Have made lentil soup for lunch but need to make a proper meal plan for the rest of this week and think about the rest of the month. Lots of things need doing around the house so need to sort them out. Have to work out how many NSDs I've had as I did have some whilst we were away.
Mid month report:
Have lost two pounds so that's within my target of loosing a pound a week to shift the excess weight this year but I could do better with the healthy eating/no alcohol. Have walked a fair bit. Making a point of walking the long way to the shops through the park. Haven't visited any of the places that I'd planned to so have to get going on that as well. Will check in later to report how the day goes.Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.0 -
So sorry to hear the news Toni's friend A horrible shock.
Misstara You remind me, I must sign myself up for my April 10k. One of my goals this year is to beat each of my race times. So while there is only 1.5mins to shave off my April race, I will need to be over 8 mins faster than my most recent one:eek:
PT cancelled at the last minute so I did a very dangerous thing. Dropped Dry Cleaning off. Walked round shop 'just in case'. Saw my downfall cake in the cafe, AND WALKED OUT!
Does mean I have to go to running club tonight, but that is budgetted for. Fingers crossed.Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o0 -
Toni's friend - sorry to hear your bad news. Heartbreaking for you, enjoy time together as much as possible. Had a friend with terminal cancer and know its hard but I chatted and made her laugh about different things - mainly my dating disasters but remember her saying she liked that. Stay strong we are all here for you.x

Not been able to post the last couple of days.
£46.82 spent yesterday and saturday on groceries, £116.44 spent so far this month, not sure I'm going to beat my £120 budget :rotfl:
8th NSD today, so I definately won't get my tough target of 25, maybe I can reach 20?
Today I am grateful for
1) Healthy competition with my brother. He has challenged me on Fitbit and it spurred me on to walk a couple of laps of the park. I can't let him win!
2) Made a mortgage advice appointment for next week, step one of my 2017 goal of putting an offer on a house by the end of the year.
3) BFs mum offering to loan us the shortfall of the house deposit I was aiming to save. I wanted £10,000 + fees, I have managed £7320 so far.
I forget what I have been grateful for the last couple of days, but I have been more mindful which I think is the point
