Whoops - declared yesterday as NSD when it wasn't - spent on Severn Bridge Toll taking DD back to Uni. Not NSD today either - OH nipped to A5da.

Food - YS pastries for bkfast from freezer. Leftover leftovers for lunch! And leftovers from a different day for dinner! :D

Decorations mostly down today - still one tree left to go and 2 boxes of ornaments to pack away (we have a lot of Xmas stuff....) Will try and get more done tomorrow after work.

    Today I am grateful for:
    * watching 2 fluffy robins bouncing around on the back lawn
    * watching a huge magpie being very interested in the shiny bars of the guinea pig run (inc pecking at the chain on one of the doors)
    * catch up tv for watching last week's Holby and getting the ironing done whilst doing so :)

    First NSD today.

Back to work, survived but promptly booked some holiday.

My finger is fine, just a small blister.

If I could get serious for a moment. Today I am grateful for the lives of my friends, my family, my OH and my own.
Last night I found out that someone I knew at University has lost their brother in a fatal car accident. I can't imagine what they must be going through. Today I am grateful for everyone I have in my life.

  • Yesterday was a spend day as DD wanted to get the snacky bits for her birthday sleepover which is tonight.

I also spent today on pizza for tea and soya milk for work.

Hoping for my 1st NSD tomorrow.

Today I am grateful that my daughter has some lovely friends who don't mind coming to our little house(there are 6 downstairs at the moment all sleeping over), for my DH enjoying his first day at his new job and also for my children (14 + 20) tidying the house ready for the sleepover.

Managed my first NSD and had my first PT session in a month. DH has suggested we cancel one of our bills which will save £15/month.

Finances are tighter than a tight thing this month so every little counts :D

    Today I am grateful for:

    1) DFIL babysitting so DH and I could go to the gym
    2) The food I prepped on Sunday so DH and I could eat healthily all day
    3) Drinkable and tasty tap water

    Evening

Another failure on the NSD front today. I only spent £1.20 but it's still a spend. I am not at work next week so will have an opportunitty to not lave the house to be able to spend:ad

    Today I am grateful for
1 - the river Thames. Went for a walk at lunchtime and the Thames is at the end of the road my office is in. It was cold, but calm.
2 - firefighters. My colleagues have really entertained me today :rotfl:
3 - a rare show of common sense by a group of people who don't usually show any :D

I've been to SW tonight and lost 1 pound, so my 2017 goal of getting back to goal has begun.

Everyone is down no really well with the challenge so far.

    Hi turtles,

Yesterday was a spend day as needed weekly shop. Spent £55.58 from this months budget, but this included (man)flu meds for DH and a gift for a party DS is attending. Today's is a NSD, so thats 2 so far.

Did some batch cooking yesterday, including veggie chilli, stew, pizza etc, so I have work lunches and a few evening meals ready to go for the week.

DH sent off 2 job applications yesterday, so start crossing your fingers for him!

    Today I am grateful for:

    - a busy day in work, which makes the day go quickly!
    - home made 'ready meals' so I don't have to slave over the cooker after work.
    - getting uniforms washed at the start of the holidays so I avoided the usual panic tonight!

Thanks for the link abundant. Did you mediate or meditate?! I think it was meditate but if not who did you have to mediate between?

  • Hi Miss Tara and others! I am re-entering MSE-land after a year away, distracted in the real world. I was thinking of lurking for the first month then joining you next month, but if you don't mind a latecomer it would be great to jump in and re-join the Ninjas this month. Lovely to see many familiar faces and already inspired by some of you I hadn't met before.

    Heres my goals:
    Usual rules:
The challenge runs from January 1st to January 31st. Whoops
Set a NSD target, aim for at least 15. 15
Donate to a charity Foodbank - donate to once a week; aim to start volunteering closer to home too. I already volunteer but its with a organisation in a different part of the country - very rewarding, but in 2017 would like to focus on my local community too.
Pay to your debt or savings first Yep, that would be the bit I need to focus on. My debt has risen in the last year - but through a building project that went over budget - so I do at least have a warm and intact house to show for it. Time to pay it down now though before it spirals (even further!)
Post as often as you can Will do :)

    January's rules:
Look at your usual food budget and aim to spend 10% less. Do a stock take of everything in your freezer/fridge/cupboards Will complete stock take by end of week - aiming only to purchase basics this month! :)
Post 3 things that you are grateful for each time you post Love this
Post something that you would like to have achieved by the end of 2017 - think about how you will achieve this, break your goal down into small achievable steps. I have three: regular exercise (a big start-over as I have become somewhat of a coach potato); paydown family debt; complete building project (eek - cos that costs! but there are little bits I can do towards it each month).
Organise some cheap (free if possible) things to do with family or friends. Love this plan. I need to catch up more with friends and will be trying to meet up for walks etc. Also keen to visit friends who live in lovely parts of the UK, but are moving in 2018, so this year - must do it!

Totals in signature. Claiming a NSD today, organised a payment for the family loan, gained some exercise at the local pool :) and did a couple of silly DIY jobs at home - so that's all three of the big goals worked towards, a bit!

    Grateful for:
    • Finding you lot again and remembering how much inspiration I gained from this thread previously, reflecting on how far things have progressed since then (and yet...the battles are still the same!)
    • Feeling tired but less stressed than has recently been usual tonight - the swim definitely helped
    • Scrummy leftovers (odds and ends of dips, crisps, and salad)
