    Evening all

Thank you very much for the Flycards and lovely messages. Dizzy, after the week you've had, I did have a tiny chuckle at the card you sent with its greeting "All is calm" ;)

I am shattered this evening, probably as a result of (a) struggling for so long with my assignment - yes, kazmeister, mine took hours and hours and hours too - and (b) looking after DGD1+2 all day today. We have marzipanned, roll-out-iced and decorated the 3 little Christmas cakes that we made at half term, so we have a treat for New Year's Day tea with all the family here; then we went to the park to feed the ducks, play on the swings and climbing frames, and do some excellent, free craft activities in the centre (cue glitter everywhere); came home for lunch; made Christmas puddings this afternoon, one as a back-up for New Year's Day, the other for next year (!); and played games with DGD2 highly delighted when she won Donkey and hee-haw-ing all round the house :rotfl: Oh yes, and we drove home from the park vie the CS, so the worktops in my utility are now clear of used but reusable packaging, an inkjet printer (still working but uses very expensive cartridges, so it's gone), old freezer shelves and baskets, and a few other bits and pieces - fffllllliiiiiiiiiing :)

DS1 and DDiL1 brought a delicious Indian takeaway for all of us for tea, so at least I had the evening off cooking :D as well as a beautiful yellow climbing rose for the front garden, my belated birthday present. All good fun, but I didn't moved off the sofa all evening, and certainly didn't see any of the TV programmes from start to finish :o This evening the house smells of curry and Christmas pud - a much better mix than it sounds!

Tomorrow we are driving to Corby to meet up for lunch sort-of halfway with friends from Peterborough (look, no cooking again :D) and if we're home in time in the evening the church carol singers are doing their bit at MrS for a children's charity.

I have to wrap one parcel to take with us tomorrow and all of DH's plus one for our guest for Sunday, then the rest are not needed until New Year's Day - but I will try to get them finished by the weekend. Flying will be done on Thursday and Friday. The house is remarkably tidy, considering how little flying I have done recently - I think DH has finally twigged that constant untidiness is one of the things that adds to my stress.

I take great pleasure out of using my beautiful Portmeirion dinner service whenever we have visitors, but I've not kept any bone china because when I lived alone in a tiny house I had no space to store it. The Portmeirion happily goes in the DW, too ;)

(((Hugs))) spoons and sticks all round, as needed x

Valli, lots of love to you and your family - I'll be thinking of you all tomorrow xxx

    Morning All

Thinking of you today Valli xx

    Enjoy your Solstice celebrations LW!

Well I didn't manage to finish the LR yesterday before I went out so that's my first job today. Feeling slightly annoyed that I'm still spending the run up to Christmas sorting the house out (yes I know I do this every year), when DH has been off sick since May and the house is still a pigsty and all he ever says to me is I don't know where to put anything! Hopefully after he has his knee op on Friday it won't be too long before he goes back to work. DH's aunt is coming for tea tonight so the house needs to be sorted by then so I have even less time than normal although DH will help me to a certain extent.

Once today's out of the way, I need to do a bit of shopping tomorrow and then Friday I will have to take DH to hospital and hopefully pick him up again and then Christmas eve Mum, Dad, my brother and his family all come over for tea as usual but DH won't be able to do anything to help particularly.

    Have a good day all

    Hugs

  • Good Morning All,

    Valli
you are in my thoughts today xx

Up with the lark this morning, with a million things running round my head for grandma's move tomorrow. So far this morning I have organised her post re-direction, emailed the solicitor and estate agent, done so admin for DH, written a checklist for tomorrow, wrapped a present and set the DW going. DH is at work and kiddies are still, amazingly, asleep. I think i might have a Bucks Fizz with breakfast to applaud myself for my early morning efforts :o:p:rotfl:

We need to pop into the village this morning, then DD is going to my friend's at 1pm for an afternoon of girly fun and a sleepover. In-laws are having DS overnight so I can get a good night's sleep ahead of what promises to be hectic tomorrow.

Off to re-boil the kettle and look at the financials

    Have lovely days all xx

  • LW enjoy your solstice celebration.

Just a quick wave round the door. Off to work.

Cake marzipanned. Stollen muffins made to take into work. Should have been day off and last day tomorrow, but have a feeling I may be doing an extra day so getting it in today. At least roads are quieter.

    Have a good day everyone.

    Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o
  • Can I join late in the week please? I very rarely post but have found this thread very motivational in the past, especially when I'm off work! I see I have actually done most of the last 2 days chores and will spend the next hour catching up. I then will be going for a long walk and come back to do Wednesday's duties. I will have to add a couple such as clearing anything moveable in garden and take down birdfeeder (before it becomes a whirleygig in storm Barbara and decapitates the poor wee things!!)

Looking forward to a clean (if not tidy!) house at end of week. Santa will be impressed.

Last day at home before Christmas Eve. DH is wfh and we are going to do a food shop together. My Ironing basket is EMPTY! 95% of the wrapping is done. I have cleared so much gibble all the bins are full so we are also visiting the local tip.

3/5 kids (adult kids) and Ginger have evil cold lurgy, I'm praying I don't get it. It has stopped DS1 working as his asthma has returned after a 3 year break. DS3 finished school yesterday. DD2 breaks up today.

Valli, travel this bumpy road at your own speed, thinking of you x

Up early as had a GP appointment at 7.30. Had abysmal night's sleep - awake at 1, 2.30, 3, 4.30 and 5.30 so feel like I've not slept at all. Nice easy day today I hope. Got a paid job in to do now and taking S to see his friend whilst me and his mum have a good old chat! Will fly when I get home.
