:xmastree: Christmas week starts here :xmastree:
Last full week before the big day - lots of flying to be done!
Welcome to the weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.
It is your responsibility to read the forum rules, please follow them on this thread as Flylady has been here a LONG time and is a fabulous support and resource for lots of us.
Last week's thread
Welcome to the Weekly Flylady thread. If you need help organising your week or getting motivated when it comes to housework then come and join us.
The idea is that even if you are really busy you don't need to fall off the wagon!
Every room comes back around next week so please don’t stress about catching up
These lists are only suggestions and not a must do list; you are more than welcome to post and follow your own lists.
Also adding a declutter mission each day will help to gradually clear the clutter and make flying easier.
A few of the basics before we start the week
Hotspots are areas where if one thing gets put there, loads of other things follow!
Daily routines are anything you need to do on a daily basis like washing, swish and swipe kitchen and bathroom, ironing, making beds, vacuuming high traffic areas, making meals etc.
Night-time routines are all things which make getting ready in the morning easier, preparing clothes for the next day, making lunches, swish & swipes of the kitchen and tidying the living room before you go to bed plus personals like shower/brush teeth etc.
Fling Boogie - stick on some loud music, grab a bin bag and whiz around the house finding items that can go out with the rubbish, recycling, for charity shop, basically anything that will stop it cluttering your home.
Swish and swipe/S&S means have a quick wipe over an area such as a sink or toilet to prevent the build up of dirt. This is usually done on a daily basis
HHE/HHC/HHI Half Hour exercise/challenge/ironing ... run around for 30 minutes to the Benny Hill music frantically cleaning exercising or ironing.. other music may be used if you prefer!
WM ~ Washing machine
TD ~ Tumble dryer
SC ~ Slowcooker
BM ~ Breadmaker
DW ~ Dishwasher
SOAADFA ~ Sit on 'bottom' and do 'nothing'
KH/XH/FW ~ Ex-husband and other not so polite versions
DH/DD/DS/DW/DP ~ Dear husband/daughter/son/wife/partner/whatever
OH/SO ~ Other half/significant other
NN ~ nice neighbour
Toxic (friend/mother/sister/whoever) ~ person in your life that seems to exist to make your life miserable
AF ~ Aunt Flo 'time of the month'.. nothing to do with flying but it comes up often.
ETA ~ Edited to add
Gibble ~ miscellaneous crap that appears forever homeless
Dot-to-dot ~ pick a small area (not a whole room) like a chair/coffee/table/shelf/worktop or wherever- thats your first 'dot' - totally clear it - clean it - and only put back what should be there - deal with what you have removed (not just move it somewhere else) then if you have time move on and do the same to another 'dot' -the idea is just like a dot to dot puzzle, you aim to join up all the dots and have a tidy room. The trick is to keep each dot tidy until you get them all joined up! All credit to AnW's Mum for this one
RoD ~ Room of Doom, the one room that feels like it is a permanent pit and cannot be used to its potential!
Mr S/A/T/M/L/Al - supermarkets Sainsburys, Asda, Tesco, Morrisons, Lidl, Aldi. You get the picture!!

Thank you so much Natty I am in
Just collapsed into bed after a hectic day (again). DH staying up to watch Ted 2 - the small bit I did see made me :rotfl:
Busy busy busy week ahead; in amongst the Christmas busyness and the kiddies being at home all week, my grandma is moving house and we are doing the removals for her:eek: .... What's that saying, if you want something done, ask a busy person.... I don't mind at all though, she is 80 and has done so much for us it's the least I can do.
Catch you all in the morning xxMFW

Thanks natty and Valli I'm in.
Hectic weekend but things should start to slow down now. Tomorrow we are having a lazy morning but I've collected towels ready for washing and will wash DS bedding too. Did mine and DDs today. Hopefully visiting the new bairn in the afternoon, a quick stop off at @ldi for some veg and possibly at wilco for a couple of birthday gifts and some pet supplies.
Stockings are already on door handles, grocery order is booked but I have my list of amendments which I'll add on Tuesday. MIL is always a willing helper and Xmas dinner here will be very relaxed - we're all quite easy going and it's a standing joke that something always gets forgotten - we all look forward to realising what it will be lol.
I only have stocking fillers to wrap, and they are all collected and ready.
So it's mostly cleaning, laundry and childcare for me this week.
DS team lost the finaldue to a disallowed goal they ended up in a penalty shootout which they lost. So he was sorry they didn't win, but pleased he scored his penalty and got a runner-up medal
Santa train provided some crafting gifts which should keep us occupied (and my table messy) for a day or two...
Night all xxBossymoo

Tomorrow I've got a hair appt, mil is having bathroom floor tiled on Tuesday so I need to pop round there and give bathroom a good clean and move everything movable out to make the tiling easier.
Got to collect an order from a local factory.
Still have some cards and a gift to hand deliver locally. I've written a paper list so I can keep up with the flying an well.SPC~12 ot 124

HB it gets better. Phone call this evening. Apparently the 6 month old hates travelling. So NONE of them are coming for Hogmanay. Back then just my parents and us. :j:j:j
BUT, can the PIL and B&SiL plus children from Helensburgh (I assume with extra Granny) come for lunch on 1st? But no one will stay.
I've changed my meat delivery 3 times in 2 days.

Oh FBO - I feel for you. Why do some people find it so difficult to get organised ?Lynne very gentle (((HUGS))) - Mr LW has fallen out of bed a couple of times recently; it's decidedly un-funny, I know. Hope your hand is feeling better - is it your dominant hand you've hurt?
I am just soo glad I made the effort last couple of weeks to get most things done. The only big job left really is cleaning the window blinds and they will have to wait for now.

Thank you for last week's lists Valli and this week's, Natty. I have never been less ready for it so every reminder works. At least I've got kitchen units I can use now. Ham(s) baked. It was a bit of a whopper and wouldn't fit into the jam pan, so I had to chop it up and cook them seperately. They're being sliced and mostly going in the freezer anyway for when I can't be a***d over the festive season. That counts as getting ahead, doesn't it?Better is good enough.0 -
I am sort of in, thanks for the thread Natty.
My friend came round and I was telling her that I CBA indoors and I don't understand it. But this is my closest-ever bereavement, when my grandparents died they were ill; Grandma had dementia so she'd already 'gone' in a way. On Saturday I cleaned the bathroom and cried because the house was in a tip (DD was helping) yet, out of the house I am able to function normally.
And today has been hard. Wel, yesterday. Today we go to the funeral parlour.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
Good morning all
Sending big, gentle, hugs all round especially to you Valli xx
Had a great sleep so feeling good this morning. I have a few niggly bits I need to sort first thing so will make a list shortly. DH has taken the car to work so we are housebound which I am quite pleased about - a perfect excuse to chill at home
SIL and my nephews are coming for lunch later and we will walk into the woods afterwards. Need to do the usual laundry, and must wipe the skirting boards down, they are shameful.
Catch up later xxMFW

Oh (((Valli))) there are no rules to this grief malarkey- you just do what you can to get through, especially in the early days. Everyone is different and finds their own way of coping. Baby steps xxx
DD woke me at 1am - not impressed! She's doing this a lot lately. Hmm.
Think it's time for that kettle to boil!Bossymoo
