Hello Lovely Frugalistas,
Thanks for all the positive vibes. Today not too money saving as we had a festive meet-up with mr f's sister at nearby farm shop for lovely breakfast & swapped cards & pressies. Didn't go too mad though. Tiny bits of money saving today are:
*No heating on downstairs until later.
*2 baths from 1 lot of hot water.
*Washer loaded for cheap overnight wash.
*Mr f has already made his packed lunch for tomorrow.
*Entered competition.
*Finish knitting my sock & cast on its twin. I want to get these finished as have received an order for 4 pairs of adult-size so need to get cracking on those.
I am really in 'Use it up', 'Get it finished', 'Move on' mode this week. I've cut open handcream to use the last bit, finished the last bit of a cleanser that had been hanging around, ditto a moisturiser, I'm determined to finish reading my book this week, also my last library audiobook. All outstanding newspapers & half-read magazines are being systematically read & recycled or passed on, half empty jars in the fridge, nearly empty mascara & lipstick.....all ate being targetted......I just seem to be in a real use-it-up mood, clearing clutter & streamlining things.
Ok, that's me for today. Have already written my job lists for Mon & Tues so will hopefully get off to a flying start.

Evening all!
I have finally finished cleaning the kitchen, it looks and smells lovely but sounds a bit echo-ey without all the 'stuff' everywhere :rotfl:
DH cleaned up the garden table and brought it in to put on the end of the kitchen table and we've checked we can seat 12 which we can though it will be very, ahem, cosy
I bought a SH highchair a few weeks ago on eBay for DH's nephew to use and we put it up and it is like new (and I only paid a fiver!) I will either eBay or give it to middle stepson for his baby after Christmas.
We did a bit of a shop at Tesco and managed to get 4 packs of finest stuffing 'stars' for 63p each (down from £2.50), with Apple and cranberries, however nice they are they won't be as good as my own stuffing (if I say so myself) but it will be one less job to do on Christmas Day. Also got 2 chicken breasts for 60p :T
I bought some foil trays from the pound shop to cook various bits in, wasteful I know but our dishwasher is broken and we don't have a separate dining room so anything I can bin rather than wash will be a Godsend on the day with a kitchen full of people. All our meats are in foil containers already but I plan to cook cauliflower cheese and I'm going to try a butternut squash dauphinoise both of which have the potential to need a chisel to remove the burned on bits!
I sorted my cupboards and took a few jars and cans to the food bank (still in date, obviously!) that we aren't ever going to get around to using. I also dropped off some clothes to the CS.
I want to persuade DH to come out with me later to carry a couple of discarded breeze blocks from outside a house that's just had a loft extension. The drop from our front door is quite deep and I don't think it is easy for the cats to use the cat flap. I have a small crate there at the moment to give them a leg up but it's not very stable.
That's about it for me today, enjoy the rest of the weekend allMake £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
Hi all
What a nice day. I eventually curled up on the sofa and slept until 10am!
All presents are now wrapped and sorted except for a few stocking fillers. DH collected DS, we didnt want him driving home after drinking till 2am. Took the dog for a walk then DS cooked a lovely meal while I cleared up after him, Christmas music blasting out and us both singing along.
I didnt spend a penny today and we have been burning free wood on the woodburning stove rather than using the heating.
We are all a bit partied out here so I think it will be early nights all round!0
