What small DFW things will you do this week? w/c 12/12

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :money:

    Morning all,
The family finish school/work on Thursday night so I've got lots of bits & pieces to get finished off this week so better get cracking :)

    Today's list
:xmassmile Kids to breakfast club for free :)
:xmassmile Stock made overnight, now drained and added butternut squash, half a bag spinach that we'd not used, a few left over cooked carrots and gravy from sunday lunch and 4 cherry tomatoes that were going soft - this will be soup for the kids tea's for the next few nights :)
:xmassmile Check and record car mileage :)
:xmassmile No heating on this morning, I've done the school run so back home and put my pajama jumper over the top of my clothes as its a bit nippy :)
:xmassmile Complained to Mr T's about the pack of peppers delivered yesterday as one of the 3 is on the turn, they've refunded the cost and I've chopped them all up and frozen them :)
:xmassmile Need to wrap a couple of pressies for dh's colleagues :)
:xmassmile Get teachers gifts out and ready to take :)
:xmassmile Pack for our weekend away
:xmassmile Clean kitchen using stardrops :)
    :xmassmile Hoover everywhere :)
    :xmassmile Check fpl/luckyphnoe/numberplate :)
    :xmassmile Check banking/spreadsheets :)

Hoping to add lots more as the day goes on.
:xmassmile Added 5 receipts to cos for the 1p :)
:xmassmile Washed 3 loads on the quick 30 degree wash :)
:xmassmile Bag for cs put in the car :) (couldn't drop it off as it was shut :( )

    Have a good day all.

    Morning all :)
Thanks for starting the thread 1LL, sounds as though you have a busy day ahead!
    Today I have / will:
Post office with ebay parcels and RM survey item Done
Post Christmas cards using free stamps from RM surveys Done
Buy and write yet more Christmas cards  Done, just the neighbours and any 'stragglers' to do now! (neighbours always send us cards, and I would hate to offend!)
    Finish Christmas present shopping Almost!
Buy GD1's birthday present Done, just got to pack it up to post so that she gets it on time (she will be 14, and wanted art stuff and makeup, had great fun :D)
Buy a couple of boxes of chocs for the staff at the shop where I have my sales unit and the post office ladies who work so hard and are so efficient with my never ending parcels :A Done
Bit of shopping at Mr S Done, forgot the cheese :(
Pop into shop to see if anything needs doing to my sales unit after the weekend - this is important as people don't tend to stop and look at units that look empty or untidy! A couple of small bits had sold
Make a choc and banana cake, to use up squishy bananas in fruit bowl and some from freezer (need the space ) Not done, this is one for tomorrow after horrendous shopping trip
Cook more rhubarb from freezer when the oven is on for other things Oos not done this yet either, still time!
No heating downstairs OK, but wood stove on now due to horrible damp day :(
List more ebay things if I get chance and it is light enough to take the photos Too dark, though I did find a couple of nice bits this morning :)

There will be more - will check back later! Have a good day, all :)

    Morning Monday Savers,
Still trying to keep my mind as occupied as possible. On today's list:
*Laundry done at 5am to make use of cheap electricity tariff. Too foggy for pegging out so all on heated airer. Washer reloaded for another cheap wash.
*Dough in bread machine for pizza & rolls. Will be putting a loaf on too when dough programme has finished.
    *Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Strain & bottle home made fruit vodka. It's smelling rather festive. Nice recycled glass bottles stetilizing in oven.
*Trim up 2 of the above to give as gifts.
*Write tomorrow's job list as there are some budget tasks I need to do.
*Work some more on the family quiz I'm doing for Christmas. All free so far except for using printer paper, ink & glue!
*Marzipanned the Christmas cake. Ignored instructions to buy 1kg marzipan. I know that 1 x 500g pack of Co-op marzipan & the same of icing covers my cake perfectly. I also ignore the bit about brushing the cake with apricot jam first. I'd have to buy that, so I use my home made marmalade instead.
*2 baths from 1 lot of hot water & my hair is drying naturally after washing it.
*Using up another 'empty' lipstick tube with a lip brush & also using the last of a handcream as body lotion. Finished the papaya footspray that I was using as air freshener too, this week. Air freshener not a necessity, but neither are fruity feet!
    *Enter competition.
That will do. I'm feeling organised re Christmas but am very behind in the garden as I've felt too uncomfortable recently to do digging, bending, heavy lifting, etc.
Hope you all get your week off to a good start. If not, well just have a fresh start tomorrow. Nobody's perfect.

Oooh, DNMS, that sounds nasty. Sounds like norovirus. It's apparantly at 10% higher than usual levels for December. I am washing my hands at every opportunity & using my bodyweight (considerable!) in hand-gel. Hope you feel better soon.

  • Oh DNM I remember that happening when our boys were little once and we had to call in my parents because we were both so poorly!

My big DFW achievement of the day was washing the car myself rather than using the car wash. My route to work is on a rural back road and the car is permanently caked in mud in winter. I also hoovered the disgusting interior. Leaves swept up outside, swept and swilled off the patio and did the necessary but grim cleaning up job that has to be done when you own a dog!

Roast pork for tea, DS1 has made a chocolate pudding but I have been eating mince pies so I might just have a tiny bit so I dont hurt his feelings.

However what I have not done is any paid stuff on job no. 2 so cracking on with that now ...

Hope you and OH are better soon DNMS, sounds as though you have whatever the little one had last week :(
