    Hello Thursday Savers,
Not too much money-saving today, but not a lot of spending either.
*Changed bed linen & loaded washer for a cheap overnight wash.
*Made fudge for a Christmas gift.
*Made a birthday cake for mr f's bday tomorrow......which took care of a pack of out of date icing.
*Got a BOGOF on handgel which I'm using like mad while out & about to try & avoid all these lergies.
*Did next week's meal plans & wrote shopping list.
Thanks to everyone who has wished me well with my scan results. I finally got them today. Am being referred for a hysterectomy which will solve one problem & the other problem could need surgery but the Dr says we'll watch & wait for now. I shan't splurge all the boring biological details but I do feel better for knowing.
    Have a nice evening, all.
    F xx

  • Hi all

An evening off - no work, no housework, no taxi-ing DS, no gym class. A rare luxury. Dont think I have spent anything all week, just havent had time to go anywhere!

Glad you got the results Foxgloves. I have spoken to the nurse about DS. She was unfriendly and made me feel like I was fussing. The good news is that his blood results from a couple of weeks ago are normal for him but my gut feeling is that something is not right. I do feel reassured that he is not seriously anaemic though.

    Glad its Friday tomorrow.
  • Foxgloves glad to hear the tests are back, but sorry to hear about needing an op (and possibly 2). Glad to hear it's a relief x

Yorkshire  sometimes the medical profession pee me off soetimes. The medical model is always the "authority". If you're still worried in a couple of days go back. I thought my daughter had her illness for 3 years before she was diagnosed, I tried to get support and was fobbed off. I was even told (by a social worker) that there was nothing wrong with her and I should get a psychiatric assessment

    Hi,

Finally the craziness that is my professional life has started to calm down after 6 months of lunacy, so I may be found in here a bit more often.

Currently trying to solve the fish pie mystery: I took a microwaveable fish pie to work last night and left it, as usual, in my locker with a freezer block. It was my Friday so I decided to throw caution to the wind and spend £3 on a burger and chips meal from the company canteen. When I got home I looked in my rucksack and the fish pie isn't there....what the Smurf did I do with it?!

  • Morning! Yay its Friday.

Determined I was told that the preferred method of contacting the hospital if you are concerned about your health is e-mail. Also that if/when DS gets to the point where his condition is under control he wont see a consultant any more but will have a clinic appointment by telephone. DS suffers with anxiety and is possibly on the autistic spectrum as well as having mild learning difficulties but now that he is 18 he is expected to manage his own health which he refuses to do. So what do I do as a parent, sit back and wait until he collapses because he wont e-mail the hospital? Sigh.

Anyhow that aside. Paid stuff today as ever, need some food shopping, DS2 to take to a party tonight about 20 miles away. He is getting a taxi home at 1 am but he tells me that the taxi is dropping everyone off 5 minutes from home and he will need picking up!

Anyway, sorry for my rambling, should only be minimal spends so all good on the DFW front so far this week. Have a good Friday everyone x

    Morning all :)
I was up early so thought I may as well post on here to motivate me!
Pleased you have your results now Mrs F, at least you know what you are up against, which is better than worrying about what it MIGHT be (been there!)
    Plans for today:
No heating on downstairs Done, wood stove alight now though as it is foggy, cold and horrible :(
OH went this morning to collect a load of firewood he had arranged to buy
Cheap porridge and fruit for breakfast Done
Drs appointment this morning Done, need a blood test
Took some items to my sales unit on the way back
Must list more things on ebay, if only if gets light enough to take decent photos with my not great phone camera! Listed a few more :)
I item (so far) needs posting, I will hold off till later in case there are others Only one more, definitely quietening down now
Go through fridge and see what needs using or freezing Oops must do this!
Need to do a shop in Mr S (boring stuff like flour and dog food), and will pick up more free boxes while there for packaging purposes. Done
Clean bathroom floor (again :( we have black and white tiles which show every mark or speck of dust ) Not got to this :o
Clean kitchen floor Or this :o
Sort out 2 old laptops that are currently propped up against the legs of the dresser - they have been there for about a week now :o One is broken, but I would like to get files from it recovered if possible before it goes for recycling, the other has battery issues, but works ok if plugged in to the mains. I will let it update, as it has been stuck in a drawer for ages, and keep it as a spare. Anyway, they don't need to be there! Or this :o
Make a pasta and cauliflower cheese for dinner :)Done
Well, a mixed day, didn't get everything donw that I had hoped, and OH received an income tax bill this morning :( I was surprised about that because I thought it was all done till next April. The letter was as clear as mud, as usual, and there was no further information online. Quick phone call to accountant revealed that it is for NI, which HMRC stopped collecting by Direct Debit earlier this year. Fair enough, but why on earth could the letter not have made this clear? That means I will be getting a letter any day too, just what we needed at this time of the year :(

There will likely be more, so I will pop back later and update! Hope everyone has a good day :)

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
Wow I don't remember the last time no one had posted all day since 7am!

Foxgloves I'm very sorry to hear you are facing surgery. Do you know much about the procedure yet? Op time, recovery time afterwards? I'm glad you know what you have to face now though.

Ally Nice to see you again. And that would infuriate me too!

Luckylady I'm glad your stress has come to a head today and hopefully you will be more relaxed and able to sleep tonight.

Yorkshire I feel for you. Just because your son is 18 doesn't mean he can automatically cope. How can they not see that? And Determined what a struggle you had to get DD diagnosed. It goes to show parenting is hard at any age/life stage.

Mystery solved: When I returned the freezer block to the freezer I absent-mindedly put the pie in the freezer too instead of the fridge!
