    Hello Saturday Savers,
Quite a nice day so far today. Money saving bits are:
*Went to Christmas event at big NT property in neighbouring county (waved up the M1 to Ziggy!) Got in 'free' with membership. Bought a coffee each & scone to share with cash leftover from what I budgeted for mr f's birthday. Saw some clever Christmas decs which I shall copy for free next year by saving twiggy prunings & bows.
*Did our big pre-Christmas shop & cashed in our nectar points for £40 off.
    *Cleaned house between us.
*Soaked containers from last night's takeaway birthday curry in soda crystals so they can be re-used as freezer containers.
*Mended hood on my coat. This had been on the Annoying Jobs List for ages & it took me all of 20 mins.
*Knit more sock. Am making such a lovely pair for myself. Think may wear over fishnets with my purple DMs.
*Free Leisure tonight.....reading & tv. Am looking forward to the last 2 episodes of 'Modus'. Am a bit of a Scandi-crime fan.
Our Christmas tree looks pretty. It's the 6th year we've brought it in from the garden to trim up.
    Love to all,
    F x

Bobarella - I haven't seen the consultant yet but I do have a fair idea of things like recovery times because I had a big gynae op back when I was about 30. It was pretty much the same cut as I'm likely to get this time & recovery time was 3 months. Of course I'd prefer a non-surgical option but I have to weigh that against spending a long time feeling yuk, when I may still need to have the op anyway. So I'm feeling quite level-headed about it xx

    Evening all :)
Underwhelming day as far as achievements go, as we looked after GD from early morning till mid afternoon:
    No heating on downstairs
Cheap porridge and HG fruit for breakfast (OH had toast and HM marmalade)
Took GD to the library for a story time event for free entertainment, walked as the library isn't far from us :)
Bits from fridge and larder for lunch for OH, DD, GD and myself
Made a big pan of bolognese, using up veg etc from fridge that needed going. Had some for dinner, and there is plenty left for another meal :)
Ordered more meat - I got another code for online supplier, it will be *interesting* fitting it into the freezers, but will be worth the effort as it is good value and excellent quality :) DS is moving in with us for a while after Christmas, so there will be an extra big appetite to feed!
Started Xmas food shopping list - needless to say no meat is on there!
Put fruit to soak to make a couple of fruit tea loaves - OH is visiting one of his elderly fishing friends for a meal on Monday and he loves these, so it is a cheap present to take along :) The recipe makes 2, so we will have the other one :D
Washing done, must dry on airer as it seems to be damp, foggy and cold outside every day :(

Ebay has gone quiet on me, and I don't mind at all - it was lovely not having to go to the post office this morning :D And I have put away my packaging stuff, or most of it, there are some boxes to go down to the garage but that can wait till the morning. I almost have my dining room back :D It will be interesting to see what happens after Christmas. My sales are not particularly Christmas oriented in any case, depends if people have any money left :rotfl:

    Thinking of you, Foxgloves xx

    Foxgloves,

    Much love coming your way.

  • Morning everyone - bleugh - now I remember why I dont really drink. 3 glasses of wine (or was it 4?) and a big meal last night means not being able to sleep and feeling rough this morning, hence why I am up so early sipping peppermint tea and waiting for the paracetamol to work. Not a single penny spent as the money comes out of customers tips received during the year.

Going to use the time to do a mealplan, a shopping list and work on the spreadsheets.

dnm glad to hear things are good for you. DS suffers with both physical and mental health problems and things have always got really difficult at Christmas. This is probably the first year since 2008 that he is enjoying the build up to Christmas and its brilliant. I hardly dare say that in case I am tempting fate!
  • Yip I know what you mean Yorkshire! I was thinking yesterday, Christmas has always been a difficult time for us due to my dd's ability to emotionally regulate. Christmas being an emotionally driven time, just ups the anti for her and she can spiral out of control. Definitely it has been worse since dgd has lived with us, just adds another layer. Trying to think back she was probably 15 the last time Christmas wasn't a complete nightmare and she turns 23 on Tuesday!

Not sure what the difference has been this year, if I'm honest probably her boyfriend is keeping her stable as she doesn't feel so lonely.

  • Right I'm back and suitably caffeine up! Time to think about what needs doing today :)

Have just emptied my car of a bag of rubbish. Came in cos it's cold to have a mocha then I'm going to go and vacuum and wash the insides down

Hung up a load of washing and put another on

Need to make birthday card with dgd for dd. Also will make Christmas cards for childminders

Need to pop to tkmax to get dd a gift voucher. Oh and I decided we would get her that as although we are decorating her lounge and getting her a carpet that won't be finished until into the new year. Originally we were going to go for a meal bu decided this would be a better use 8 resources instead

Going to lunch at my db's so will just have something light for tea, maybe cheese on toast. Think I will knock up a lemon drizzle cake to take. Think about tomorrow's tea as I'll be at dd's and probably back late

Get clothes and lunches ready for tomorrow

Wrap the last of my presents this evening

I do need to do an hours overtime to get my case notes on the system

Think that's it! Hope you all have a lovely Sunday x

  • Morning all :hello:

DNMS and YL glad times are good with your families. Long may it continue.

Foxgloves sending love, hugs, virtual coffee and cake :D

We're out today on a steam train. All bought and paid for ages ago so no spends required. Not til later which will be a lovely end to the weekend. No school stuff to get ready for tomorrow too ;)

    Things for today:
    Check banking, surveys, FPL
Check fridge for anything that needs putting in freezer
Make list of last bits I need before Christmas from shops
Quick shower, let hair dry naturally
    Something from freezer for tea
    More knitting tonight for relaxation

Wow, that's a pretty poor list. Hope you all have a good day. PF.
  • Afternoon folks

Good night out with the crossfit crew - not as low spend as I hoped but forgot that we had to pay the balance of the meal. There was a LOT of food though and it was nice.

Poor OH couldn't get a taxi from his night out and finally rolled in at 3am after trying to come home since 12.30! He then proceeded to twitch and move around in his sleep all night so I haven't had a wink.

Today's carrielovesfanta is brought to you by coffee ;)

OH did make some bread. I went to take it out of the bread maker when I got in... it's er... dense
I suspected that he forgot to add yeast but on further questioning this morning, it turned out that he couldn't find the white flour and used 100% RYE FLOUR!

    Yesterday's state of play:

    • B/L from stores - done
    • Get OH to make lunch and a loaf - done
    • Get train into town - done
    • Neither of us in this evening so no heating on - done
    • Charge phone in work - done
    • Cut open tube of fave hand moisturiser. Def enough for a few more scoops (hoping that a new tube arrives in my stocking at Christmas!) - done

    today's plan:
    • B/L/D from stores (but no toast ahahahaha)
    • Work half day
    • Print off crochet pattern in work
    • Lots of crochet. Still trying to finish this afghan for Christmas!
    • Try another loaf??? haaaaa
    • Get OH to tidy round. The house is a bit of a pigsty
    And that's about it

    Have a good one all

    Afternoon all :)
Today's list, such as it is:

Washed hair and let dry naturally (as if I didn't always do this :rotfl:)
Used up some elderly mushrooms and tomatoes for breakfast
    Watered the Christmas tree
Laundry off airer and into airing cupboard to finish off
Made a couple of fruit tea loaves, one for OH to take to an elderly friend who he is visiting tomorrow, and one for us :)
2 ebay items packed - I [STRIKE]thought[/STRIKE] hoped yesterday that it had gone quiet in the lead up to Christmas, when 2 items sold with pleas to post them first class instead of second etc etc..... I shouldn't moan, but why is it so difficut for someone to pay a small amount more into a paypal account that they have just made a payment to, if they want to use a more expensive postal service  Or even simpler, just let me know first so I can change the listing?
OH did the hoovering and washed the kitchen and bathroom floors - what has he been up to  :rotfl:
Still need to walk the pooch, pick some leeks and cook a roast dinner!
