    DNMS, it's not as glamorous as it sounds and the truth is I was less interested in half a dozen half naked men and more worried they were blocking the door to the kitchen and it was lunch time :rotfl:

    Good on you for wanting to help your client, it must be so hard to not become emotionally involved.

    Dawn You never realise quite how OCD you are until you let a child decorate your Christmas tree :D

    Yorkshire Lass I feel your frustration, I managed to get my DS referred for counselling and he had a three week window to make the appointment but he was too low to call himself and I wasn't allowed to call to make it for him as he's over 18 :mad:

    Ally Give it long enough and the fish will make its whereabouts known well enough :eek:

    I went on the works night out last night which ended up costing me £35 for a chicken burger with chips and sides, 3 chicken wings, 2 beers and a shot.

    We had an M&S curry tonight to avoid the temptation to order a takeaway while still having something a bit 'special'.

    This weekend I plan to deep clean the kitchen in readiness for Christmas and my starting point will be the stuff mountain on the table. I'm going to paint 3 of the walls (it's not such a big job as it sounds as 2 of them have windows and the third has all the cupboards.) I will use the leftover paint in the store that matches the fourth wall.

    I need to bring in the garden table to check that we can actually seat 12 people. I bought some small stools from eBay recently which don't take up too much room. We'll all be elbow to elbow but that's half the fun of it, isn't it?

    I have checked my holiday allowance to see how much I will accrue in the New Year before my contract ends and it is 3.5 days so I'm going to try to book the last 3 Mondays off ready to roll out the new dipping-my-toe-in-the-water business. I was so positive about it before but now I'm starting to get nervous but I think I'm mostly nervous that I won't get any freelance bookings once I let people know I don't want to work Monday's :(

    I'm considering cashing in my pension to pay off some debts, it's not a huge one, basically I started it in the 90s and only paid for a couple of years. I think it's worth about £7,000 now and will pay me a whopping £20 per month when I retire but could save me around £200 per month in loan and credit card repayments right now and, in addition to having just reduced my mortgage, will give me further wiggle room to be able to earn less/live more and not be having to commute into London every day until I retire.

    That's all from me really, not too much moneysaving and lots of rambling instead!

    Have a good weekend all!

  • Glad the fish pie has been found!

    DS2 and 3 giggling girls delivered to their party clutching their alcopops. Thick fog out on the roads, not nice. HM fishcakes out of the freezer for tea, bit of washing to sort out but it can wait until tomorrow. Feet up now. Went to Li@l for a few essentials, need to work out mealplan for next week.

    A fish pie is a really funny thing to lose Ally - I wonder if you are the only person ever to lose one :rotfl:

    Hi December Debt-Free Devotees,

    Wee Geek's SitRep....

    Dowd Towers is not ready for DecemberFest...not even close. We're keeping it modest but I have a lot to do...dear oh dear...I'll start with the basics but I'm so far behind I don't even have a list of what I haven't done yet. :o
    Luckly we both have birthdays soon so we can have another shot at celebrating then.

    Debt Free-Nillionaire Continuity Plan Year Two:

    * Dowd Towers has been decorated with pine cones and berries so that's done. Zero spend, used last years.

    * Checked online banking.

    * Checked DW's accounts.

    * Paid rent for next three weeks so I don't forget.

    * Checked loyalty points.

    * Checked 0% emergency credit card is sitting at a balance of £0.

    * Cleared emails.

    * Free £20 voucher from credit card company. Spent £250 on every day expenses. Repaid immediately. Claimed voucher.

    Live long, live well and prosper.

  • Ally glad to hear that the fish pie mystery has been solved.

    DNMs good to hear that everything is going well for your family, long may it continue.

    YorkshiresLass how frustrating about caring for your son now he's 18+, could Mr YL ring up and pretend to be him. I know it would be wrong but for the right reasons, systems should be in place to support people who are not willing or able to cope without additional support, surely in many cases that would be their families.

    1LuckyLady have a lovely time away with your family.

    I missed posting and reading yesterday (I have now caught up), we were mega busy. The children started sports training for a new to them discipline. Whilst we were out OH started the deep cleaning the house requires. After lunch of creamy mushrooms on toast, the children had some lessons and we all did some general house work, as well as finalising the shopping list for long date stuff and placing an order with the butchers. We had roast chicken etc for dinner, then OH put the children to bed I did the shop for the long date stuff, involved going to Aldi, Sainsbury's and Tesco to get the things we wanted at the best price. Finally home to unpack and bed. Friday is the day when I usually update the GC but I was too tired to think so I just went to bed.

    Today our plans for today are simple, deep clean the rest of the house and not spend anything.

    Today's list:
    Open the curtains to make the most of the day light as currently isn't foggy
    Close curtains before it gets dark
    Turn off lights and appliances not in use
    Stick to the meal plan
    B/L/D from stores
    NSD
    Check bank accounts
    Report on the GC
    Update signature
    FPL & Ashleigh
    RMS
    Keep heating to a minimum, we have blankets and jumpers
    If we light the stove put kettle on top for free hot water
    HWBs for the children's beds
    Set DW & WM to run overnight
    Fashion on a ration 2025 0/66 coupons spent
    79.5 coupons rolled over 4/75.5 coupons spent - using for secondhand purchases

    I'm still in bed supping a cup of tea and working up to getting out to begin my big kitchen clean out! I couldn't have chosen a better day to do it as DS decided to make American pancakes in the middle of the night so it looks like a bomb's hit it :eek:

    I just spotted a couple of uneaten spaghetti Bol ready meals in the fridge that didn't get eaten when I was out the other evening, I reckon I could bulk those out with some salad, garlic bread and a random tin of macaroni cheese I have knocking about to feed four of us tonight.

    I will need to do a shop at some point today though only enough to last until Thursday night when I will be doing my BIG Christmas shop which my mum has very kindly offered to pay for. I cancelled my delivery saver some months back so didn't get a chance to book a Christmas delivery slot so we will go late in the evening and hope it's fairly empty.

    Have a good day everyone :)

    Morning all

    Foxgloves - sorry you're needing an op (or poss 2) x

    DNMS - glad your dd is doing well at the moment. I hope it continues :)

    First day back in work for me - I've moved my desk back to the main office. I think that they want to move people back over anyway and I would prefer to be away from some of the more negative influences in the small office. No one appears to have left me any work to do, so I think it's a tidy and general email cull!
    EDIT: I am so bored. But on the plus side, my new desk is nice and enclosed - I can just hide nicely behind my monitors if I want to and spy on people through the gap :D

    Today is my gym's Christmas party so not an nsd but am going to keep spends down to minimum
    • B/L from stores
    • Get OH to make lunch and a loaf
    • Get train into town
    • Neither of us in this evening so no heating on
    • Charge phone in work
    • Cut open tube of fave hand moisturiser. Def enough for a few more scoops (hoping that a new tube arrives in my stocking at Christmas!)
    Small list as not much doing!

    Have a good one all
