In Yosemite the shuttle buses are free, but there's a charge for the optional tram tour.

lifted from Facebook re PH buffet

"What has happened to the buffet at Planet Hollywood? It's shrunk to a quarter of the size it was last year. The range of food at dinner is awful and it tastes disgusting. I won't be back!"

in their defence they have had a flood and closed half of it and charging less.

there are more comments on facebook about other buffets getting worse each visit

The Killers will be performing six songs for “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in front of Caesars Palace at 8 p.m. on Monday, July 31.

It seems attendance is by invitation only, although the general public can view the show from the Vortex at the LINQ, doors open at 6 p.m. I would imagine that will fill up quickly and you would need to be near the side to get a view.

I don't think the buffets are worth it either. i'd much rather go to one of the food courts and have something from there, as I think they are better value for money.
Last year DH insisted on going to one 'cos 'it isn't Vegas without going to a buffet' and we ended up going to the one in Paris.
I have to say that I thought it was a bit rubbish - for me anyway, - as they had a lot of seafood like shrimp & crab and what-have-you, and I'm not a fan of anything like that and the smell was overbearing.
I wanted beef, and there were people complaining that there was only one choice of cut - which was basically still alive, very red & bloody...... yeuch!!I ended up with 2 slices of lamb, a big spoonful of mash, and a bit of veg. Not worth the money at all. DH enjoyed it, but if, like me, you don't have much appetite in Vegas 'cos of the heat, it's just not worth it.
Places like Panda Express & Johnny Rockets however....... :T:rotfl:

I too think the Paris buffet is rubbish. But then again I think most are, but Paris has taken it to a new level
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

1 month to go before another 10 day trip. We have used Avios for 4 nights at the Mandarin Oriental but because our flight doesnt get in till 7pm I didn't want to waste the Avios on a night when we are not at our best so have booked the first night at the Tuscany. Uber from the airport, drop the bags in the room, shower and quick change then spend the rest of the night drinking and gambling there, then Ellis Island for supper.
Rest of the stay at the Platinum (that's if I can get them to answer my emails)

    Couple of questions about food:

    1. Where do people think are the best buffets on the strip and are there any that do offers? I am staying at the MGM so somewhere not too far from that would be ideal.

    2. It will be some of the guys first (and probably last :p) trip out there, one of them cant eat shellfish at home as his OH is allergic so he really wants to have lobster out there, where would people recommend going for that?

    Thanks
MGM buffet is as good as any on the strip, or used to be anyway.
Lobster go to a specialist restaurant like Red Lobster

Thanks for all the replies re buffet. I think we will probably do them for breakfast but will only do it once for dinner just to keep my mate happy.

Thanks for telling me about MyVegas app, I'm up to 15,000 points after 3 days so should have plenty for some free stuff by the time I go in October :)

we have also come around to lunch buffets - in general, they have the things we like there at a lower cost - and then we're pretty much set for food for the day.

I still want to try the Caesars buffet, but the price just puts me off...same for Sterling Brunch at Ballys. We keep saying we will do one, and we never do.

Finally booked our October trip - really late for us to book, we're normally 6-9 months ahead of ourselves. We're sad that the Cosmo comps dried up, but 6 nights at Paris (5 comped) and 3 nights at Encore (2 comped) will do us just fine.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?
