To be honest we rarely do an on strip buffet unless we have a discount of some sort. We prefer off strip places and happy hours for our meals.
I don't think the buffets are worth it either. i'd much rather go to one of the food courts and have something from there, as I think they are better value for money.
Last year DH insisted on going to one 'cos 'it isn't Vegas without going to a buffet' and we ended up going to the one in Paris.
I have to say that I thought it was a bit rubbish - for me anyway, - as they had a lot of seafood like shrimp & crab and what-have-you, and I'm not a fan of anything like that and the smell was overbearing.
I wanted beef, and there were people complaining that there was only one choice of cut - which was basically still alive, very red & bloody...... yeuch!!I ended up with 2 slices of lamb, a big spoonful of mash, and a bit of veg. Not worth the money at all. DH enjoyed it, but if, like me, you don't have much appetite in Vegas 'cos of the heat, it's just not worth it.
Places like Panda Express & Johnny Rockets however....... :T:rotfl:BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.

I find the Lunch buffets are best value and my choice would be Main Street Station Downtown. Join the players club and get a discount. Its nothing too fancy but clean and the clientele includes LV city workers so it cant be too bad0

Now we are talking, a good off strip value buffet.
here is a current list of prices for buffets
https://www.lasvegasadvisor.com/buffet-restaurants/
Silverton dinner is great, fresh pasta station great charcoaled corn on the cob £14.99 sun to thur or $7.50 on a monday if over 50. (prices are with a players card) we only go on a monday :T
there are others who offer senior special days
Strip buffets could be much cheaper but of course they have a captive market0 -
Hey guys,
Wifey has given me the green light to go travelling in the US by myself!
Plan is to drive some miles, like either:
LA ---> Highway 1 towards San Fran, but cut off and head to Yosemite for 2 nights, then down death valley to Vegas for 4 nights, then 1 night in Big Bear or LA even......
Got multi options, and as i'll be using my Virgin Air Miles, can either fly to LA, San Fran or Vegas (and fly back from different airports also). Unsure of my route yet....
Temp in Vegas towards end of September ? Would I pick up a tan, still in the 30's ???0 -
Stuie we did a west coast tour in mid September 8 years ago. Lovely weather and tanned great, had convertible which helped for the longish drive days.
We flew into San Fran did highway one south then head across to Bakersfield and then up to Kings Canyon on one trip before Vegas. But you could then go on to Yosemite and down Death Valley from there. Lots of routing choice! Another year we just did Yosemite from San Fran. But we had a few nights in Yosemite then. Only downside is the falls are dry in Yosemite but it's still stunning!0 -

We did the San Fran to Yosemite in 2011. I highly recommend it. It's an amazing journey. So is the trip to Yosemite > Vegas. It's a long drive, but well worth it. We'd love to do it again one year,
Re. the temp. We've been a couple of times in early October, and let's put it this way. We once saw a weather report on the telly that said it was going to be 95 F (about 35c) and the weather lady told the locals that it might be worth thinking about putting a jumper on, because it was a bit chilly .......... We were melting :rotfl::eek::rotfl::eek:.
So it's warm(sometimes a bit chilly late at night, but nothing a long sleeve top can't solve)

Without wanting to move this thread onto Calafornia, I have a query similar to Stuie. We are arriving in SFO in late Aug, spend a few days there then moving on for approx 5 days road trip. I am usually well planned but on this occasion I don't have my act together:(. I quite like the idea of Yosemite plus Sacremento. Now the query would be is it better to book hotels in advance or just turn up on the day and see what's available. Normally I would plan and book in advance.
Any other hints on places of interest or general tips appreciated.

Promising news guys, cheers for the info!
I want to go end of Sep, but a mate has said if I can wait till the end of Oct, he will meet me in Vegas....
Main thing is for me to plan a route, as I just want to drive (mustang or Camero again), and do a good bit of walking around Yosemite....
and win $$$ in Vegas again !
Best get my planning head on!0 -

Dunno if you have been to Yosemite before, but me and DH both recommend the star gazing tour & the shuttle tour. Both are well worth the money and the star gazing tour is amazing if you get a clear night.
The canteen they have do lovely breakfast burritos as welland the pub they have do lovely Cosmopolitans.......... I wanna go back, it's the most beautiful place I have ever been to.
