There was a reference to Resort Fees on " Rip off Britain, holidays " on friday morning,a gentleman and his wife were complaining that these fees were hidden when booking holidays in Las Vegas. The strange thing was that they had been going to Vegas for years so must have known all about them but went on and on about this " hidden " fee.:eek:0

Well, we on here know that's rubbish. When we booked with Expedia last year, every single hotel picture/description had a disclaimer in the corner stating how much the resort fee was per night. It even worked it out for you when you put in how long you wanted to stay for. I'm sure the was another website that informed you of it as well, I think it was Virgin (can't remember tbh though)
We stayed at Venetian and it was roughly $500 for the 2 weeks resort fee - which was stated. Although we did get a better room and saved about $190.
Like Pebblesmax has said, they got their 15 minutes of fame.
I still say the place is getting greedy. I hope there will come a time when the numbers will drop, and the powers that be will realise (maybe too late) that it's 'cos it's getting too expensive.BEST EVER WINS WON IN ORDER (so far) = Sony Camcorder, 32" lcd telly, micro ipod hifi, Ipod Nano, Playstation 3, Andrex Jackpup, Holiday to USA, nintendo wii, Liverpool vs Everton tickets, £250 Reward Your thirst, £500 Pepsi, p&o rotterdam trip, perfume hamper, Dr Who stamp set, steam cleaner.
comping = nowt more thrillin' than winnin':T :j0 -
The program stated that other US states are following Vegas,s lead and intoducing resort fees but a female congress woman was trying to get them stopped as she thought that they were wrong.0

The car park charges were the last straw for me. I still fly into Vegas 3+ times a year but rarely spend more than a day there on arrival and departure. I would rather stay at a Comfort Suites elsewere and collect their points and free nights .0

Hi. Have been following this thread for a few years and got lots of great tips and advice. Off to Vegas for the fifth time in October, can't wait. Having looked again at the first few pages and not found what I was looking for I was wondering if anyone knew if there is a list of hotels that offer free shuttle buses around the strip? I know about the trams and monorails but am looking to save money by using the free shuttles.
Thanks in advance for any info.:)0 -

Couple of questions about food:
1. Where do people think are the best buffets on the strip and are there any that do offers? I am staying at the MGM so somewhere not too far from that would be ideal.
2. It will be some of the guys first (and probably last) trip out there, one of them cant eat shellfish at home as his OH is allergic so he really wants to have lobster out there, where would people recommend going for that?
Thanks0 -

hi
unsure about your second question but in regards your question above you ask 50 people you d prob get 50 different answers!!
Imo alot of the buffets are around a good standard give or take.
Like you my brother and I have stayed in the mgm and we did love the mgm buffet!
we also liked the wynn buffet( thats pretty much near the other end of the strip,) we also liked the mandalay bay one, and if i recall you get your drinks included in that one, felt most of the buffets were of a good standard, i think in our 3 trips(we are novices compared to most of the fantastic people on here) wqe have pretty much tried all the buffets on the strip, though i think there are some off strip too which someone may be able to advice
we were not too keen on the luxor buffet for some reason but it wasn't bad, if that makes sense.
as for deals, do you use the facebook game myvegas? its a game where you build up gold lp's and if you get enough you can exchange them for buffets- so in theory free buffets.there are alot of 241s avaiable .there are details of the game on page 1 of the thread. hope this helps.0 -
As Bobby says...play a little on the myvegas game and you will get 2 for 1 buffets as you are staying in an MGM property.
Personally I thought the Mandalay bay buffet was one of the worst we have been too, pretty sure there's no free drink included.
Mirage has included beer and wine with all buffets, though not as good as it used to be.
If you want close by the MGM and a consistently good buffet try the Aria.
Not badly priced at full price, but easily obtainable on a 2 for 1 deal with a little play on myvegas.
Bellagio is usually good also...again works with myvegas game from bogof.
There are many good buffets on the strip that aren't MGM properties usually costing a little bit more but any of the higher end hotels have "usually" great food.Though we have left the odd one feeling it was overpriced for what was on offer.0 -

as for mandalay bay we thought it was good, as i said above, ask different people, you d moe than likely get different answers!!
as for the drinks there, all i recall is my brother having a few beers, it was one of my 3 rewards and did not get charged extra-is it maybe different between lunch-dinner? different days?
We also liked the aria and though bellagio was ok, not overly keen on it though.when we were there last year i remeber coming out of the buffet and seeing a massive massive line to get in and thinking thank god we ve just finished!!
kind regards0
