Does my hairdresser have the right to do this?!

They provided a service for which there was an agreed price. Unhappy with what they did then negotiate properly at the time.
You've obviously also missed my post where I said I didn't notice the mistake right away because the issue is at the back of my head. Selective reading or purposefully obtuse?
The hairdresser didn't even take the payment, he was already working on the next client, and I dealt with the receptionist. I too was in a rush. All of this is totally irrelevant and I don't understand why I have to explain the ins and outs of a ducks !!!! to just to get some constructive feedback0 -
I have to laugh at someone on a Money Saving forum, spending that amount of money for a hairdo.
Then I told my wife, who was completely speechless, then laughed even harder.
That is a ridiculous amount of money. I am not envious of the fact that you obviously have such money to spend on a hairdo, I couldn't care less. (let alone travelling that distance) I just think that you are one more who does not know how the other half lives.I think this job really needs
a much bigger hammer.

To the contrary. I get my hair done twice, max three times a year and don't spend much on clothes or nails, make up or much else tbh. This is my little treat to myself. So if you and your mrs could kindly the your judgey knickers off please, you haven't a clue about me or my life or what I sacrifice for luxuries every now and again.0 -
@Powerful_rogue with all due respect your opinion has well and truly been noted. You don't need to repeat yourself it's getting a bit boring now. Of course technically and legally what they did was right, yet it's funny how no-one has responded to my comments about a customer service perspective and my history with the brand.
Your stance, I assume, is as long as no law was broken treat customers however you please? People frown upon tax avoidance yet it's legal. That doesn't mean it's not poor form.
Well you seem to believe something underhand and shady has taken place by the salon reclaiming the money they were owed via the correction of Visa scheme. Despite being told this is all above board, you keep making out the salon have been sly when they haven't.
I certainly don't frown upon tax avoidance. If its legal, then fair play to the company. It's upto the government to close these loopholes.0 -
If a hairdresser mucked my hair up I certainly wouldn't pay them to put it right.....just saying.
The distance/travel costs are irrelevant...you chose to go where you choose to.
The payment is due - thats one issue. The service you received was either below standard so you don't go back OR if it was seriously below a professional standard then claim a refund and if necessary follow the SCC route.
Customer service standards should be the same whatever the cost of the hairdressing. ASDA and Booths customer service standards are the same....its just that one has mood lighting lol and the other needs "identity parade" strength lighting in their shops!:A Goddess :A0 -

I think this has turned into yet another case of new forum member doesn't like the answers they were after and as no-one is agreeing with her point of view were all intolerant and forum bullies.0 -
"I get my hair done twice, max three times a year..."
What!!!! My wife gets her hair done about 10 times a year (but not at £200 a go). You only get your hair done twice a year?
I go to the barbers about 4 times a year and they all laugh about how long and unruly my hair has become between cuts. (And I'm paying about one fortieth - excluding rail fares - of what you're paying!).
And you didn't answer my earlier question: with whom do you bank? I'd like to know as I'm considering changing banks and would like to move to one that takes everything I say at face value(!).
For the same reason, which magic circle firm does your solicitor friend work for? They've advised you to tell your bank that you only paid under "duress" (your own words)"
Is this really a genuine thread...?0 -

Go on then, tell us. You decided to come onto this public forum and stated that you spend £200 to get your hair done plus £80 (or £40, I'm not sure) rail fare to get your hair done at a salon 250 miles away. And they can't even do it to your satisfaction!
I suggest that there may be more effective ways of spending the money you otherwise "sacrifice".
(Plus you've been back twice for corrective action and have paid each time! You may have your own business but you don't appear to have much business sense.)0 -
I do sympathise with your situation. When you pay for a premium service you expect to be treated in a premium manner. If that doesn't happen, you don't go there again.
I don't see how there is anything you could do about it legally though. You agreed to pay £200 for a haircut and you got a haircut.
The suggestion that you tell your bank you paid under duress sounds like a try-on to me. The legal definition of duress requires something very serious and wouldn't apply here.
I'm not sure this thread is going anywhere. You have your answer.0
