Does my hairdresser have the right to do this?!

Yes you could return it but you couldn't go and buy another coat from somewhere else then expect the original shop to pay for it.
That's exactly what I'd do. Return the coat, receive a refund and buy a coat elsewhere with that money.
Unless the salon are prepared to pay £80 train tickets for me to come back to correct their mistake (for a third time) I'm not going to do that. The situation is not as black and white as your replies.0 -

The situation is exactly black and white (or blonde/brunette in this case)
You asked for something that is an art rather than a science - they believe they delivered this and you don't
The time to resolve it was in the salon and that was your opportunity to walk away if they were running late but instead you chose to accept them rushing
Given how you're coming across on here I'm with the salon - if you don't agree with the (apparently unhelpful because we don't tell you what you want) consensus on here then it's probably better that you engage your lawyer friend

How I've come across is frustration at unhelpful 'you sound like a nightmare'-esque comments.
Three sessions in, £375 down and I'm still unhappy. This isn't about being told what I want to hear (I don't want to hear that the reversal is legit and yet I've taken that on board), it's about acknowledging the fact that at my own expense, I've given this salon three chances to get it right and they haven't.
Based on your black and white logic I'll just keep paying £80 a time to keep returning to the salon to get it right, however many times that may take!
It''s pretty irrelevant, but my friend has been a successful magic circle lawyer for several years. I typed up a quick, one sentence summary of a long email he sent to me. Sarcasm and pulling up a minor comment proves my point re being unhelpful, but I'm sure you've tried your hardest to sincerely advise me so thanks for your input

don't go back (you are not likely to wish to anyway)
find a more local saloon that suits
take them to the small claims court if you believe you have a case0 -
My lawyer friend suggested I tell the bank I paid under duress and want a refund based on the fact I'm unhappy with services received?
Would you not be better following your lawyer friend's suggestion rather than take suggestions from posters on a forum?
Personally I am surprised by your lawyer friend's suggestion but I am not a lawyer.0 -

I don't think the £80 train tickets are relevant. If you choose to go to a salon that is miles away from your home that is your problem. Obviously you would hope they would do everything they can to minimise the number of trips you make, but they are not responsible for your costs.
Has another hairdresser been able to explain what went wrong with your hair? Is it definitely a mistake on the salon's part?0 -

Hermia, the £80 tickets aren't relevant to the salon, but they are relevant to the people in this thread telling me I should just go back and let them fix it, when I have three times already.
What has gone wrong (and I quote from the salon manager) is that 'hairdresser X didn't cut it like that because he said you didn't ask him to'.
Obviously it's my word against his but why would I make that up when up until this point I had every intention of going back? As I've said, I've given him the benefit of the doubt twice to get it right and the third time round it's still not correct.0 -
