I always seem to wake up feeling like hell, not to mention sickly. This situation is definitely a good way to suppress your appetite! It's a struggle to even think what to cook for dinner. But I have to as my daughter needs to eat. as does OH.

I've also been waking up earlier and earlier! 5.45 this morning! DD was surprised to see me - OH had just gone to work - but she was having breakfast!

Zippy I know people have mentioned about volunteering - you could look at volunteering at a local citizens advice too. Sometimes these volunteer roles can lead to paid work with them, plus you get to help others too which could help keep you occupied. Also gives you experience of getting back out there to work and the feelings that come with it. Best of luck with everything.

Gotta admit I'm concerned about the dog. He's very subdued and sad. I can't obviously keep pampering him all day every day, he misses time with OH and DD does her best, but obviously she's a teenager and doesn't want to spend all evening with the dog.
I don't want to rehome the dog and will try everything not to but I have to think of him as well. Last resort. He's a breed that is very intelligent and needs exercise/stimulation. If we do have to move into a flat then that would be even tougher as he loves the outdoors. It's a tricky situation for sure. But one I will try to resolve and keep the dog.

OH mainly deals with the dog - re: trimming paws, flea/tick treatments, bathing etc.. - so I'm going to have get confident with those things. Although bathing is going to need 2 people as he's a big dog!

At the end of the day I want whats best for us AND the dog.

Thank you for your suggestion leespot.
  • Quick question: would you go for an interview with a company that you've now researched and found has very bad reviews?

If it was going to cost you very little to go, then I would. Make your own mind up about the company. People have all sorts of reasons for bothering to put a review online. They may be unrealistic in their expectations of the company.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.

What kind of bad reviews? from employees or customers?

Yes! But only for the experience. That could be a great way of gaining interview experience, as if you mess up, it won't matter, as you don't want that job anyway. With that at the back of your mind, the pressure is likely to be off you. The flip-side of that is it can sometimes get you down, if you feel you had a good interview, and then don't get the job - it depends if you're strong enough to put it in perspective at the time.
  • The reviews are from employees - it's a company from around the country. A care company with homes all around.

I'll take a look where interview actually is and talk to sis later. She can give me an impartial answer after looking at everything! I know even if I go to the interview I don't need to say yes if they offer the job.
I only applied yesterday. Only problem is - it's a full time 40 hrs per week job. Nice FT I guess - just not sure how I feel going from 0 - 60 so quickly!
  • Sorry, another question!
I've been mainly looking at Universal Jobmatch - is that the best way to do it? There are so many agencies out there, which also advertise on UJ - it's getting confusing! I thought keeping to one would be simpler... but they seem to overlap! I've applied for 3 more this morning...

Is there any reason why he cant still do these duties? Is there any reason why you cant share the dog? He's lived with you both for so long. Can he not stay with both of you? Maybe you during the week and your OH weekends?

I cant see why you have to do it all especially as you say he misses your OH.
