bails I guess I should have been more specific -
First of all . DON'T PANIC - what you're experiencing is desperation mixed in with apathy. You just can't wait to get to your goal weight but can't be bothered to start.
1. If you're not following a program, might I suggest that you start calorie counting and menu planning. Sometimes, all it takes to get yourself fired up about a WL programm is planning it.
make yourself up a spreadsheet (or use the one Ajax provided a couple of months ago) where you have 3 meals per day, plus snacks for 7 days. Then, plan your own personal diet sheet for 1 week, breakfasts, lunches and dinners for 7 days, allow yourself a treat every day and snacks.
THEN clear out your cupboards of all the stuff you won't be eating or taking you off the straight and narrow. If you can't bear to throw it all out, put it somewhere you can't reach (my OH has his treats in a high cupboard that I can't reach without a chair - that way I don't see them or want them).
NEXT - buy in the necessary things that you like to eat to follow your plan for the next 7 days. It's fantastically empowering to be at a supermarket checkout with a load of healthy food. you feel so good about yourself.
PIN UP your menu plan on the fridge where you can see it and follow it for the next week. Try to find things to do to occupy yourself. If you're not feeling up to much try the competitions thread on this forum. You'll be so distracted by entering competeitions for free stuff, you'll forget about the time and your cravings.
IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES - I now plan a treat for myself every night, but I've also turned eating fruit into a treat for myself. I have a bottle of fruit flavoured water (served in a wine glass to make it different) and a bowl of chopped fruit (apples, pears, grapes). and make an occasion of it in front of the tv. Try and buy one or 2 different types of apple that you really like - pink lady apples are lovely chopped up, braeburn, or russett (if you can find them) are all lovely crunchy apples. If you're going to be eating healthily and treating yourself to fruit, you may as well treat yourself to something nice and not just the nasty value fruit that you can get.
If I can think of anything else, I'll let you know.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -
afternoon all! sorry to hear you are struggling bails - that's some great advice from delly. I've tried going it alone but found that i need the discipline of a plan to keep me good. Pet you're right it should be katiepoppydog ,especially as katie is a dog too, but i liked the sound of cat better. Awww, seren, sorry you're struggling hon. I had a bit of a blip last night too - making quadruple chocolate cookies as a birthday gift was not the brightest idea i've ever had. Still oh licked the bowl and I only had 1. Faugh, who am i kidding?! back to the naughty corner i go . . . . .0

I know what you mean about the net Serendis so glad I could help.
As for not making the best choices, I seem to be having an absolute mare:eek: since I got back! I can't believe I have been looking forward to this time for so long, and now all my drive has gone out of the window!
I know it's partly because of my illness, partly being so poorly since I got home (still not recovered fully) and the stress/frustration that's going on here but I REALLY NEED TO GET STARTED!!! Can someone please help??
I'm thinking of resorting to posting my 'before' photos, including one of me in my bikini (our 3km stretch of beach was completely deserted, only reason it saw the light of day!) but it might just make me cry (about to be TOTM):D
I'm kinda smiling but really I'm tearing my hair out... (got a smiley for that anyone?)
Any bright ideas gratefully received (even stating the obvious which I already know but need to be TOLD) so I can get my head round it today and make a concerted effort from tomorrow. Thanks guys x
Righteo Bails m'dear I'll try to jog you into gear....
1) Write down your reasons for losing weight and stick em on the fridge. we know you know them and we know them but writing them out again will just remind you and help to strengthen your resolve.
2) Posting your pic might give you the motivation but we don't want you to be crying because of it, how about printing it off your computer and sticking it to the fridge next to your list....
3) That done you then need to cheer yourself up...you need to try and separate your weightloss journey from all the other hassle you have going on (not easy but if you can do it it might seem simpler) Try posting what you are planning to have for dinner and tea and then you can stick to it)
4) That done you need to make yourself feel like a million dollars...hop in the shower, do your nails and put on a nice top or something to surprise your other half when he gets back
5) I find a good sleep when I'm all bummed out helps to reset the mindset and see things a bit rosier...have a nap and plan something nice/relaxing/positive to do when you get up.
6) Some of the difficulty maybe that for so long now the diet will be starting another day...and you've lost weight without the pressure of acknowledging you are on a diet (if I'm remembering your posts correctly...if not ignore) now That DIET-DAY has come an gone you're focussing in on it a lot more which may make it seem harder....I am the queen of procrastination and it can be hard to break the cycle...so repeat after me....'I am making my life healthier right now....not later...not tomorrow morning...right now!' Then have a nice glass of water and step away from the fridge
7)Spend 5 minutes grinning inanely at everything...the act of smiling helps to cheer you up...
8) I tend to feel better when I'm doing something proactive which makes me feel in control....chop up some veg for emergency munching?
9) I know you're not up to excercise but how about a big stretch...you know like the primary school pretend you're a growing tree stretches and nice big breaths...might relax you a bit
10) plan your day for tomorrow...life always seems rosier when you've gotten througha day guilt free
Not sure if you can use any of that ...might think of some more later....
top tip...to jazz water up mush up a lemon/lime and chop the peel..pack into icecubes and freeze...then you can add them to your glass anytime0 -
oooooooooooooooooooooh...what delly said!!
Good advice there delly..0 -
Thanks lovely peeps, just the sort of things I needed, keep 'em coming!:T
Deviating slightly (and ignore this if you don't need anything at mo, although Christmas pressies spring to mind...) - Debenhams have their Blue Cross sale on (up to 70% off) plus if you belong to Quidco you can get 4% cashback AND 16% discount using a code - that's seriously cheap shopping!! The codes are on the merchant page - 6% for electricals and cosmetics (PAJP), 16% for anything else (PKLP) - so they are compatible with the cashback. Not sure if the codes work on their own but you could give it a go!
Sorry, sorry, sorry for being off topic, just wanted to share some moneysaving madness with my WL buddies!
I'm off for a shower (yes, still in my PJs) to make myself feel a bit more alive and then I'm going to Ikea to get some cheap furniture so I can start getting this house (and my life!) organised! Then when I get back I'm going to start putting some of your ideas into practice...:DThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Thanks delly and seren for those wonderfully helpful posts  . Even though I've been doing this for months it's nice to have some things put back into my mind, it's surprising how easily I get stuck into a rut, so hopefully it'll make me rethink a few things :j ...
...this particular point is so trueserendisglair wrote: »7)Spend 5 minutes grinning inanely at everything...the act of smiling helps to cheer you up...
...I was advised to try this to help with mild depression, and found that it does indeed help. Apparently our brain associates smiling with happy times (ns Sherlock! :rotfl: ) so that when you force yourself to smile the muscles patterns stimulate the memory :j a bit like Pavlov's dog I suppose...
...Re the split nails, a WW leader advised us to try cod liver oils capsules to help counteract the reduced amount of fat and it's minerals, in our diets; I started to eat quite a bit of sugar free jelly I've never suffered with the problem since. Hopefully either of these can help...
...Some very nice winter recipe ideas :T ...
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

My comment on the split nails? I took and still do take pleasure in stopping biting my nails around 4 years ago, I actually trim and file them now
last year I noticed my nails would break and snap really easy and thought it odd but nothing more, I didn't cop on that it could be an indication my diet was missing something. Anyways Since the new year I tend to have eaten more salad and tuna, and the nails are fine and tend to break less too.
hope it helps though it probably doesn'tProud Member of the Lose Weight Thread on I Wanna..................
