  • afternoon all. Still no heating. blub. Turned out the warehouse had supplied the wrong part and we don't know when the plumber can get back over which is rather disappointing. Still, I've got my diet back on track now. Had a luscious tea out of a SW mag so will pop it across on the recipe thread. Don't know if i should be proud of myself but I appear to have shocked Ajax. IS that good or bad do you think?

a1969, if you have a thing for ryvitas have you tried the ryvita minis? They are a HEB on SW and the salt and vinegar ones are particularly luscious and a great sub for a bag of crisps. V confused about halloumi cheese though now - I got some advice on here - I think it was BB - reckoning we could use it a HEA as the nutritional was comparable to mozzerella. However I've just found a SW recipe that serves 4 and uses 113g of Halloumi and has that bit about adding syns if not using it as a HEA. So that means i should only have 28g as a HEA. Can anyone confirm or refute this? It isn't listed on Bodyoptimise's list at all and i have no other way of checking it out.

BTW, People who have recieved swap boxes that I have noted so far . . . .

Have I missed anyone? Don't panic if you haven't sent or received yet, there's still a week to go but I want to keep track so I can give a nudge if it's needed. It's also quite reasuring for the sender to know that you have received it i think!

......I'm unshockable, take me on in PM if you don't believe me :D I was concerned for the more conservative-with-a-small-c members ;)

I think you answered your own question mate. If 113g is 4 HEa's then 28g will be a HEa. I do have the phone number of my old SW consultant but I think I'd be asking for nothing based on what you said. Let me know if you want me to call him.

KPC, I completely 100% believe Ajax is unshockable...:D Sorry to hear the heating is still not sorted; get yourselves round that fire!

Just a quickie as my internet's pants (well, next door's is :o still waiting for ours to arrive :mad:) - not only am I still on the straight and narrow but... drumroll please... I have been cooking all afternoon!!! If you knew me you would know what a shock this is (to myself mostly!). I bought an apron (purple of course) at Ikea the other day and my OH, bless him, you could just see him thinking 'but she's never going to use that'! Wrong dear boy, for I have transformed into a domestic goddess :rotfl::rotfl:Okay, I may not have Nigella's culinary talent but I am trying (and I definitely have her curves:D).

Nothing too fancy yet, just making up a big batch of soups for this brr, chilly! weather. I did experiment with a new cake though which I've just sampled and is pretty fab (I use that word for other 'fab' lovers out there). It's fine for my food plan as it's low GI ( all the protein from the eggs and almonds compensates for the sugar) but it may be good for others too? I'll post the recipe and then maybe someone could point it up or something?

    Lemon cake

    2 lemons, unwaxed
    6 eggs
200g (7oz) caster sugar (I used unrefined, better for you)
    250g (9oz) ground almonds

Wash the lemons, then put them into a pan, cover with water and bring to the boil. Leave to cook gently for about 45 minutes, or until the lemons are very tender when tested with a sharp knife. Leave to cool.

Preheat the oven to 150'C/300'F/Gas mark 2. Line a 20cm (8 in) round cake tin - preferably springform or with a loose base- with non-stick baking parchment.

Drain the lemons and cut them open so you can remove any pips. Then put the lemons into a food processor and whiz to a golden puree.

Whisk the eggs and sugar together for about 5 minutes (preferably with an electric whisk, it took me AGES!) until they are pale and very thick, and until a little of the mixture, flicked on top of the rest, will hold its shape for a few seconds.

Whisk in the lemon puree, then fold in the ground almonds using a metal spoon.

Pour the mixture into the tin, then bake for 1 1/4 hours, or until a cocktail stick inserted into the centre of the cake comes out clean. If it starts to get too brown, cover lightly with a piece of greaseproof paper. Cool the cake in the tin, then turn out carefully and remove the paper.

And then [strike]gobble it all up[/strike] enjoy it in small slices :D I think it'd be particularly fine with a dollop of plain yoghurt or creme fraiche and a mixed berry compote.

Hope this is okay for others, enjoy! x

  • You a bit excited Beani? :D
  • I am really going to have to try out that cake bails...it sounds fantastic...one of my favourites is lemon drizzle cake...the toppig for which you could add to this is you were being naughty....

Mix up lemon juice and icing sugar into a paste to make a thin icing or use castor sugar instead and drench the cake...the sugar makes a crunchy crust and the lemon ands the tang... fantastic
