    Hi everyone

I have lost 2lb this week. That is the good news.

The bad news is that I also got a diagnosis of Diabetes. I have been such an idiot wilfully ignoring that being overweight has a price. No one to blame but myself.

    Spirit

I am diabetic also, 9 years now nearly...

    well done on your 2lb loss:j :j :j

welcome K1:D even though you are skint you do not necessarily need to go to expert shops to get all the healthy foods in, all the supermarkets sell healthy foods, salad stuff, high fibre cereals, brown bread, fruit or your local markets....
To start off with take a good look at your cupboards and get rid of the high calorie, high sugar, high fat foods and swap them for low calorie ones....
Exercise by walking, cycling, jogging, playing with the kids, running up and down the stairs, gardening, all that is free....

Go to the library and borrow some recipe books or look on the recipes here at the begining of the thread for ideas....that is all free...ask some of your friends or colleagues if they have any books on WW or SW or Rosemary Conley or low fat if not the library will have...

Drink plenty of water, google WW website or SW or Tesco, to have a look and get an idea of which diet would suit you is free....

Cut down on alcohol, sugar, fats, pies, pastries, crisps, biscuits etc all the high calorie stuff...

  • Well done pokey :j granny :j spirit :j serendisglair :j and jenpop :j ....

...Suggs Don't panic!!! It'll come off by next week. You work too hard to warrant a gain like that, it's just a blip:D ...

...I've never been into this body fat % stuff, I worry enough about losing weight and keeping it off, without the added worry of the actual amount of fat:eek: :rotfl: I'm afraid that I just look in the mirror and ask myself if I can see any fat, sadly, the answer is always yes :o ...

...perfect10 Try not to stress too much about the maintain, it appears that you have other things to worry about. Are you sure that you are eating enough, try not to cut down too much, and if you don't already do so, try keeping a food diary of all the food and drink that you have. Hopefully you'll have a better result next week ;) ...

...Hi k1mmie The beauty of this thread is that you slim the way that suits you, there is no need to join an expensive class or buy fancy special foods, I didn't do either, but the best thing was to have the support of the lovely people here, I couldn't have done it without them :j So stay with us and give it a go  ...

Thanks Victory. You sure have done well. What a weight loss! Am I being rude if I ask for the before and after (or am I pushing the rules lol). I always feel that I have such along way to go and everyone else has less than me!

spirit, don't worry overmuch about hte diabetes. I'm sure victory will have some excellent advice for you. My mum was recently diagnosed and it's been really good for her - her diet is much better and she's much more motivated and has lost weight and is tonnes healthier. She's aiming to manage it through diet and she's nearly there. Your diagnosis may be a blessing!

well done to the losers this week and i think it was justmarried who felt like it wasn't happening try as she might - i've been the same this past couple of months - 0.2kg on, off on again etc etc. It finally kicked in this week and i'm feeling really motivated now. MAybe next week is your week?

Jenpoptab, keep us posted on that quark cheesecake! I'd be overjoyed to hear it works as i just can't find good diet desserts.

and pet, the westie is the Poppy Dog ( source of the Poppy in my username) she belongs to my mum and is known affectrionately by my OH as The Drooling Mandibles of Death. She really is that cute but is possessed of a phenomenally bad temper. To date she has claimed:
    a milkman
    a milkfloat
    a policeman
    a postman(x 4)
    a telephone engineer
    a cable engineer
    the gas man
    the wheeliebin

and most of the family. The trouble is she's so cute that people want to pet her - you tell them not to as she bites and they go 'surely not!' ignore the warning growl and get bitten. The two things that she hates most in the world are children and wheels. . . i still haven;t got over the shame of the day she attacked the wheelchair that a little boy was sitting in. Fortunately he thought it was funny.

Bails - hope everything is going well for you!

Intervals will be just fine thanks Suggs!

It's our 2 year anniversary today Petrichor but it feels like forever (in a good way!). I'm getting back to normal slowly, couldn't be miserable today!

Welcome if you're new, you'll get loads of help and advice on here. No question is a stupid question and there's lots of silliness to keep you entertained and take your mind off food!

Ajax doesn't seem to have been around much lately, do you think he's found new mates to play with?
