I'm thinking of going tomorrow jules, have you been going long? I haven't been for ages, just nervous of wearing my cossie in public
I've been going for about 5 weeks now, the new class tonight is more gentle than my normal class.

As for the cossie thing I wouldn't worry too much generally it's all women of all shapes and ALL sizes. I'm no lightweight and am now just edging towards a size 20.

One tip I would give is if you haven't been before have a quick chat with the instructor......oh and wear a bra under your cossie (sounds weird I know but definitely moe comfy!!)

I bought a new cossie and kinda wished I hadn't cos now it's getting a bit big!

Just a quick one before I head off to bed.

Thanks for all your good wishes guys, all the positive vibes you're sending me seems to be doing some good as I'm feeling much better today (a glass of fybogel and 3 trips to the loo for a poooooo really helped too).

Welcome back retiredlady - I hope you had a great holiday in Canada. only 7lbs gained is fantastic. I'm sure I'd have put on at least a stone. And don't worry how far you have to go, just sign up again for the monthly challenge and take it 5lbs at a time! (sigh! if only I could take my own advice).

Finding it difficult to stay on the straight and narrow. Some of my meds have to be taken with food and it seems to be easier to take them with a cuppa and a few plain biscuits instead of with a healty option. I've been trying to juggle my painkiller so that I can take these ones with a main meal but it doesn't always work out that easily.

Petrichor your stew sounded lovely with the nasty weather we had this morning. I'm sure we all have some lovely recipies for low fat/ low cal soups and stews amongst us. I wonder if we should all post them on the LW recipies thread - it's coming up to that time of year when healthy comfort food is something we need to have readily available. Does anyone have any idea how to index it too? Just a suggestion, but I think it'd be useful.

well done to everyone who's lost or maintained this week. Here's to day one again tomorrow.
Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.

Morning peeps well middle of the night still:D up early with the diabetic hypo, chomping on an apple to suck out it's natural sugars:rotfl: :rotfl:

Last night I had talking about comfort food, chicken in gravy with potato from the HL section at Tesco and it was lush, 338 calories per 400g or 6.5 points, proper yum, I keep drinking chicken bovril to remind me of the good old gravy days and not to feel I am missing out on heavy stodgy winter comfort foods, I could eat a whole chicken pie all to myself or Aunt bessies cottage pie . Oh those were the days:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I eat lasagna now for comfort foods WW ones or HL , or WW thick 0 points veg soups.

I have just discovered and bought a jar of green jalapenos, they are only 5 calories per 100g and give a lovely kick to sandwiches (got the idea from subway the other day had a turkey wholemeal one and they put jalapenos in) to soups, main courses, I love all the herbs and spices, that and mild curry powder from Asda, I add that to soups, curries etc and it brings the taste to another dimention:rotfl: :rotfl:

I am having WW sweet and sour fish stew 2 points poer serving this evening made with toms, mild curry, pineapple, lemon juice, fresh haddock, carrots, courgettes, it is on my fav list as the pineapple adds the sweet taste and it is very moorish.

  • Really fed up. Maintain again  . Am eating lots less than I used to and not gaining which I know is a plus, but I have been maintaining on much more food good and bad than I have eaten these past few weeks so I just don't understand:confused:

Could say difficult at work at the mo and trying to move house but really they are just excuses and I know it.

Fed up with saying it but "must try harder"...

    Good Morning!

Perfect10 try not to get too disheartened, like you say at least you are maintaining and not putting anything on :) Are you following any particular plan or just healthy eating?

I was on the Slimming World website last night having a browse when I discovered a plan on there in the student section... its a shopping list and a list of all meals for a week and they have costed it up at about £4 per day (I made it £4.42 on the tesco website) So not too bad if you are on a budget, although slightly over mine at the moment!

I had a really good day yesterday, firmly back on the wagon, so fingers crossed today goes as well!! :D

Just a 1.5lb loss for me this week - i know i should be really happy with it cause i had 2 nights of wine this week. But somehow i'm angry about it!! (i think more about my bodyfat which maintained)

On a positive note - i found all the singstar games on ebay last night for £30 - karaoke party (with a lot of dancing around obviously!) here I come!!

    Hi folks
Well, I did not weigh in last week cos I was afraid of what I would see. Weighed myself today and it is a maintain over the 2 weeks so not too good, but better than a gain. Thus I am still only 8lb down on when I started!
Oh, well - back to the grindstone

    Morning all

It was almost a loss for me today but in the end it's a MAINTAIN Efrieze, which is a miracle in itself! Can feel nothing but grateful...

Still far from 100% but working on it (TOTM on the way so could be a challenge!)

We're out for a meal tonight to celebrate but am trying to get back on the wagon, gently and slowly so I don't fall straight back off!:D

As for the body fat question Pokey - I think I'm right in thinking that the 7 pounds are the total you've lost so far? What happens when we first start losing weight is that a lot of it is fluid etc so you may not have lost much of your actual fat yet (sorry!). A word of caution though - I'm not sure what type of scales you have -Tanita?- but please don't take them as a true indication of your body fat ie I would be v surprised if your BF really is that high. I have had my BF measured more accurately in the past (although the only true result is through water immersion - would love to have it done but dead expensive) and my scales were 8-10% 'out'. I tend to use mine to gauge if the number is going down at all, but to be honest I think it's probably better to take them with a large pinch of salt. You could get measured with calipers at the gym but again, this is open to human error and is only a vague indication in my book. Electronic pads are probably the best option in the affordable BF testing range... what does anyone else think?

It seems that lots of us are struggling recently, perhaps due to the onset of autumn? Maybe we could post our best low fat comfort foods/recipes to help us all along?

Well done to everyone, whether you've lost, maintained or gained, for sticking with it - we WILL get there in the end!

Have a good week everyone, and I'll try to do the same! xx
