  • yay, glad you're okay delly, we've been thinking about you.

Welcome to Ness, interestng to hear that you're a big fan of Jamie - i have s imilar prob in that I really love Nigella's recipes and she too throws the oil and the cream about with gay abandon. I've been getting brave and experimenting with changing the recipes though and it does work. I'm finding Quark is the best one for cream as yoghurt tends to go all manky and has a very strong flavour.

Had my bath yesterday - oh the bliss. And all that running up and down the stairs with the kettle must have been good for me. Ive planned another Nigella day today so I'll stick them on the recipe thread if they work. Need some advice from SW types though - I've discovered halloumi cheese - omg!!!!!! can i pretend it's mozzerella and use it as a HEA? I checked up the nutritionals and it's about the same calorie wise and slightly less calcium. If you guys say it's okay then i reckon I'll be fine. Please?!

And thanks for all the kind PMS about organising the swap thing. *blushes*

    Hi kpc
if the nutritionals look the same, I don't see why not. You can buy reduced fat Haloumi and give that a go too (got mine from Sainsbury's). Syn value is listed the same as Mozerella in the book
It's the cheese allowance that makes SW work so well for me. Just had a bowl of tagliatelli with 42g grated mature half fat cheddar on top: delicious and great comfort food as I recover from a migraine.

bb i love you. no really, i mean that. not quite sure whether syn value is equal to mozzerella for the standard or the reduced fat - but either is good. I can't believe i've never eaten this stuff before it was spectacularly good. I've had 1HEAs worth dry fried for 2 mins a side in a frying pan then dropped into 1HEB of EV olive oil with some chopped chilli in it. No more late night cheese on toast for me!

awww, saversarn, sorry to hear you aren't feeling great. But you are doing fab by sticking to your plan. It would be very easy to let things go whilst you are poorly - your intent to stick with it is admirable. Go you!!

Syn value for 28g standard H = 4, syn value for 28g standard M = 4. Can't get online to calc reduced fat H at the mo: haven't got this weeks password but will have it Tues. Have you tried grilling in (put on foil) too? That's the only way I have had it: grilled in strips and draped on salad. (probably much the same as dry fried)

    Afternoon lovely peeps!

Uh oh - that's all I have to say about my housewarming party, although I did make enough of a recovery to have lots of fun!! My mates insisted on it being an allnighter so I ended up drinking (although not loads) and I actually seem to be a little better today! So that's the answer all you poorly people, get on the bevvies;)

So needless to say, tomorrow will be Day 1 for me, which is less than ideal in my first proper week but I knew about the party so was expecting to struggle. It was lovely to see my mates again though so it's all worth it.

Welcome Ness, hope you find some inspiration and help, there's a lovely bunch of people on here.

Delly and Saversarn, hope you're both taking care of yourself and being looked after, you too BB.

I'm off to clear up the house some more and try to resist the warm foccacia which keeps popping out of our oven courtesy of one of OH's friends... Oh, and I got sent a lovely orchid and yummy truffles yesterday which aren't helping (well, I'm just about resisting the orchid...:D)

Enjoy the rest of the day x

Evening all, just got out of bed (I'm on nights) and filled my belly with faggots, mash and peas. Ooooh it was lush! I felt I deserved a treat from eating healthy all week (and resisting a takeaway pizza!). Thoroughly enjoyed it, but back on the carrot sticks tonight in work :D
