Thanks efrieze for doing the chart, well done to all the lovely losers this month. Right I've done myself a signature (hope it works) to motivate me. I'm going back to calorie counting because it works for me, thanks everyone for the kind words, katiepoppycat you don't need to be in the naughty corner, you've done much better than me but thanks for keeping me company. I will not be in the naughty corner next month. (Who am I trying to kid :rotfl: )
Anyway good luck everyone.0 -
I am trying to maintain, honest just trying to understand the balance and to be 100% honest I am worried that I might start gaining. Does that make sense? I am getting really anal about it all, working out the calories, trying to ensure I balance the books calorie wise.
I suppose the issue could be I cannot face NOT going to the gym, I know I shouldnt go so often right now or if I should I should cut down on CV work and raise the weight work, but right now I walk in there is every good intention in the world, but once I am on the cycle I seem to be driven to work hard! Does that make sense? am I talking sense?
I hate writing this sort of post as I dont want people to mis read what I am saying, I have always had a weight problem, still do actually, and for once I have found a magic formula to lose weight, oddly though that part is quite easy, now I have to change and make adjustments and I guess I need to take a deep breath and take a gamble, but the formula is more difficult this time as the margain of error is greater. Again I just need to trust myself
Sorry, mini rant over
Hi suggs
this didn't come over as a rant at all. I hope I didn't seem to be making light though of something that truely is difficult for you.You do make complete sense and I think fears of the slippery slope are entirely understandable. I can't see the problem of going to the gym a lot if you enjoy it; it keeps you healthy, but as others have suggested, maybe you could let yourself eat abit more. It is down to trusting yourself, of trying to give yourself a little leeway and see what happens. You've not been at target for that long: it isn't suprising it is taking time for you to work out how to be next. I have every belief in you that you will work it out in time. And you will be generous enough to share that experience and advice with the rest of us.

Hmm, Grannynise, I think I may be a three out of three after all! I can't work out if that's really wrong or not.....:rotfl:
The photos remind me, I took some 'before' photos while I was on holiday with the intention of putting them on here. But as things are going well at the mo, I might leave the public humiliation til I'm faltering, to give me a gee up the backside! there's even one in my bikini...
Keep forgetting to say Hi to all the newbies so HELLO!:hello: I'm not sure who's joined recently or while I was away but you've all come to the right place for lots of lovely support and advice.
Can I please be added to the 5lb Challenge this month, especially as it'll be the first month I'm trying to actually lose weight. Oh also, I'm sure this is my fault but I've actually only lost 3 1/2 total since I joined here (been fluctuating). I'm aiming for 25 pounds from now.
Right, I'm off to try and sleep off this cold cos I can't taste anything either and that's just rubbish! Been dreaming of a baked potato all holiday and I might as well have been eating cardboard for all I could taste!
See ya in the morning peeps x

Sorry efrieze - I didn't realise it was jinxed, that explains a lot!
On the plus side, your thanks count will go through the roof, check mine out..

I am going to keep an eye on this. If the chart keeper is jinxed, I am goign to have to reliquish the task pronto!
On a serious note, and I hope this sounds as it is meant, but I joined this thread back in May I think, and I used to take the weekly chart for granted. Having been responsible for it for just one week, I realise what a huge task it is and I wanted to thank Lois Lane for her weeks and weeks of hard work. And dellybelly too now...respect to you both.0 -
Well done jules:j :j :j
I def would like to join the brussel sprouts club love 'em, frozen, fresh, always have done, kids hate them and H not keen so when I buy them they are all for me:D
suggs I must admit since goal weight I have not been so avid on the bike, still walk absolutely everywhere as do not drive but the determination is not so strong to get out there and beast myself, you did say in another post that you were hoping to cut down the gym by 10%, did you manage that?
Exercise or gym has it's advantages where as the more you do the more lee-way you have calorie/food intake wise as it balances itself out but what I rely more on is surrounding myself with low fat, low cal stuff everywhere I go so there is no temptation to return to what it was like and if I get hungry or peckish at least what I reach for now is healthy and good for me and low in calories.....everyone has to do what they find works for them, it is just finding it;)
The world record for eating brussel sprouts is 43 in 1 min by Dave Mynard (UK) I love 'em but not that much lol0 -
Morning morning morning!:hello::j
Well, the cold seems to have deteriorated overnight - boo! - so I'm being ordered to lie on the sofa by OH, who is currently fluffing up the pillows and getting a lovely duvet to snuggle under; ah, bless him!
So I'm aiming for a quiet day to try and shift this thing (although I do have an appointment I have to go to at lunchtime). It's a little tricky as it means I can't cook any of the meals on my plan and also we're having a housewarming on Saturday which there's loads to do for, but trying to chill! Honest!:D
Have a healthy, happy day everyone - I'm sure the boredom will get too much and I'll be popping in anyway - naughty girl! xx

...Suggster, me old china. That's a new one on me "I do too much at the gym and only want to maintain, not lose". For what it's worth I think your mindset is spot on mate. After shedding such a huge amount it makes sense to me that a body should be allowed to recouperate and reassess, to find its new happy home in your lighter self. That would mean no weight swings either way for a couple of months, maybe even 6 months until the winter is over? Mother nature isn't a bimbo, and she gives us animals a bit more substance in the winter. You obviously love going to the gym and it's very good for you, especially the CV stuff, so why not consume extra calories in order to compensate in order to maintain rather than keep up the regime to get a loss you don't necessarily want? At the moment you are consuming x calories but using up x+y calories, meaning you are essentially losing y weight ( a position most of us would love, by the way  ) . You are experienced in weight loss, clued up on these things, got a good head on your shoulders, can mentally keep a calorie track so I'm confident there's no way you'd ever let the relaxation go the other way. Taking on more calories might seem weird and very much against the grain right now after working so hard to lose, but it would achieve the result you want - that's if you really do want to maintain. This would provide an extra benefit too, in that when you dropped the calorie intake again in spring, it would be a whole new 'diet' again for your body, and it would more readily accept your weight loss over the spring/summer. You've reduced your body weight by over a third old son... let your mind and body share a glass of bubbly in celebration. With your gym and rugby work, even if you ate more treats and 'naughty' food, you are doing it with a known purpose. Worth considering, I reckon.
(EDIT: then Ajax reads on and finds that the same thing has pretty much been said by the whole group, esp. victory. Sorry  )0 -

My mum died 10 years ago and I remember that I made a huge effort to lose weight then but now I am much heavier than then. Thanks for the advice.
...as your dad looks down upon you I'm sure that nothing would give him more pride than seeing his little girl making these efforts to improve her life. Dads like that sort of thing.0
