And especially for Dragon¸ Ajax and Suggs – and all others who indulge in a bit of Scrabble...

... well thanks for including me in this list, if only it were true ;). Sometimes I think Anne Frank's drumkit must have had more use :rotfl:
  • Hi Peeps

Thanks seren apathetic is the word nn4c3n.jpg:rotfl: it just about describes me entirely at the moment. Do any others of you have days at a stretch where you don't feel up to doing the things that you want to do  ?... Strange isn't it?...

...beanie How did your friends cycle ride go on Sunday? Did she manage to raise some more funds for your trike? Sorry to hear you've had a tough week and hope things start to pick up :D ...

...Victory That recipe for the masala sounds nice, will you be having any? I'm afraid that the calorie count is too high for me. I made a chocolate and beetroot cake once from a recipe that I got from the OS board, and it was great, couldn't taste the beetroot at all, although I love beetroot, it's the same with carrot cake, you get the sweetness but the flavour is lost amongst the other ingredients, it's a great way to get children to eat veggies without them knowing if you need to...

...raphael Glad you're back with us and sorry to hear that you've had a bad time. All the meals that you've mentioned can be made in healthy way thereby reducing the calories. Try not to let yourself get hungry in the first place, eat little and often if you can, drink plenty of fluids that aren't high in sugar, keep a supply of healthy nibbles to hand just in case ie apples, pears, carrots, peppers etc. I find sometimes just to have my meal earlier than planned helps, as I then stop thinking about it and get on with other stuff, I don't end up eating more that way either. Hopefully that 9lbs will soon shift as it's new weight...

...ajax I've found that calculating daily calorie needs gives a good indication...

    xxxx
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Just reading the link petrichor posted above, and there's a mantra in there that we should all remember. If there's one thing we should all recite every day, this is it I reckon "it is very important not to try to lose weight too fast. It will backfire." A propos of nothing, reckon megatron will come back?

EDIT: Well done starlight, yet another pound off. :j
  • Ive not been online much the past few days :( I hate when work gets in the way of my online time. I wish I could persuade them to give us internet access at work lol

Anyway, Ill try catch up with all that Ive missed later :)

I only lost 1lb this week, which I know is better than nothing but its still a bit disapointing.

Oh and am I too late for the box sending thingymabob???
  • Hi All
Well had my first "weigh in" last night on my new scales (electronic with fat measuring thing). Have apparantly lost 4lbs since last week which I am very happy with but for the fact that most of its probably water and also my scales may be wrong!

Has anyone used fat monitoring scales before - i wanted to cry when i got on them -Im nearly half fat!!! (and not in the good way!)

I was so depressed about it I had some crisps - me feel a gain coming on next week and i have only just started!!
  • Hi Victory

Let us know what that tastes like, it looks great in the book - my only worry is that the recipe is for 16 portions and part of my problem has been 'portion control' more than anything. With 4 of us eating it should last 4 days (can't see that happening and at over 300 cals per portion it could soon add up).

I tend to serve up my meals on DS's old Thomas the Tank Engine melamine plate - I can't overload it because it's just not big enough.

    FFM :)

Haven't looked at the recipe in a while but you could alter it to make cup cakes instead. That way you have it all portioned out (make sure you stop at one!) and you might use less of the filling/topping.

It is NOT only lost 1lb this week it is I HAVE LOST 1LB THIS WEEK AND I AM WELL CHUFFED;) :D

No petrichor will not be trying the masala, just for H, kids won't eat it, the mexican burgers yesterday were not as lovely as the lebanese chicken, all eaten but no one was over the moon with it and the dips were runny and watery.... I am going to make the choc cake today if I get the chance funky I can see what you mean about there only being 4 of you and it being for 16 people:eek: at 300 calories a slice it is a huge indulgent luxury, I have no intentions of trying it as it is not for diabetics but I have 2 kids that are gannets and 16 portions means 2 slices to them:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I will do it as a one off, made the cook yourself thin choc truffles and the kids hated them, dark choc, my young one spit it out and shrieked 'no' throwing it straight in the bin so they will never be made again:rotfl: :rotfl:

I have just got the book out and it says it can be frozen so you could either portion it up before it goes in the freezer, it says that do not ice it for the freezer, I never bother with the icing bit, my kids say it is too sweet and leave it off so don't do it...

..... pokey all you can do is tell yourself that they are right and evermore shall be so. If you start to not trust the scales then you will have no faith in your efforts to lose weight as the numbers become meaningless. The scales ARE right, and more to the point, they are your permanent constant in your efforts to discard the lard.
