  • Well done pokey on losing 4lbs :j give yourself a pat on the back:beer: as long as you use the same scales each week the comparison will be the same. They say if you have one clock then you know the time, but if you have two clocks then you're never sure what the time is! I've never used scales that measure fat% I just use my eyes :o and being an inherently cynical person I'm rather sceptical as to their accuracy (the scales that is not my eyes). I hope your OH's body building doesn't leave you down, it does seem so unfair when someone else is struggling to lose the blummin weight :rotfl: but try and glean the healthy aspects of his regime and incorporate them into your own. I agree with you about gym, there would be no way that I could do it if I was large, but why not  it's what the places are for. I'd say give it a go  as did...

...I was pleased to see your loss efrieze :j and I hope you shift that 1.5lbs (+) by next week, it'll be so inspiring to pass that 6st mark. Also, what great news re the gym :T and what a fabulous way to pay, I think at the moment we've got about £33 due on our Tesco card, so I might be able to buy a pair of plimsoles :D . What do you mystery shop  ...

...ajax  you're in a naughty boy mode today :rotfl: ...

...anic Making your own cards - or doing anything for that matter - that keeps your hands and mind occupied on anything other than your next meal, is one of the greatest helps to folk such as us...

    xxxx
I wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latter :p but my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Put on 2lbs last night but was expected.

Will be easier once I move in with OH on Friday as he's joining me at SW so we'll be buying on good food and cooking the same meals! :j

i seem to be having a real self destruction streak at the moment. went a bit wild on the weekend with the carbs and all my favs crusty bread, cream cakes, chocolates and then when i was supposed to be restarting on monday it just continued and ate huge bar of galaxy and a fruit crumble. yesterday wasnt much better had hospital appointments and never had time for a proper sit down breakfast or lunch so just grabbed sweet stuff all day instead. ended up feeling pretty yucky last night so i think my stomach was rebelling. hospital said the muscles in my back are extremely weak from lack of exercise so has arranged a physio so more depressed now than usual as that now means another hospital trip per week and going as much as i do is bad enough. i must try to do better and am hoping tomorrow will be my monday!!

Righeteo homealone...bout time you made a few lists..... such as

List 1 - Why you want to lose weight
List 2 - whats stopping you from losing weight (bad habits etc)
List 3 - Whats negative about your day

Once thats done try and address all the issues...List 1 is important because if you don't do it for yourself there is no point...if its coz people are telling you to then you won't have the same motivation.

List 2 night help you identify what triggers the binge, why you find it hard to stop etcs and the list 3 gives you a chance to put a better spin on things... e.g. You have to visit the physio...positive its going to help strengthen the back

If you do something along these lines you'll find all you're niggly self-sabotage techniques....

so instead of saying..."I want to be 2 stone lighter before I go to the gym as people may laugh" you say..." sod it they can laugh; I want to be fitter so I'm going to the gym" before you know it its been done and it wasn't so bad....

You can find your binge trigger...so instead of I'm a bit down I'll have a choccy bar and then don't stop coz you think you've ruined it...recognise why you are a bit down or bored and find an alternative...have a chocolate bar but say...I want chocolate...I'm going to put 2 squares in the freezer for half an hour first and then eat it real slow or I'll break my teeth.

seeing things on paper makes you acknowledge things and quite often find out things you never knew. If you change just one thing every day into a positive step it will soon add up...and you'll see a difference in how you deal with things.

If we fretted over every hurdle we fell at we'd never get anywhere...its just the way we choose to dust ourselves off and carry on trying that matters...

so stick with it...give the list/chart thing a go (if it made any sense what so ever) and turn something into a positive...and post your achievement on here everyday....
  • great advice from seren there as ever. Don't be despondent homealone, you'll get there in the end.

I have a 0.4kg loss to report this week despite the chinese on sunday ( and the prawn crackers on monday but less said about them the better). I've just dropped an airfreshener and some apples under my desk, that should keep ajax quiet for a bit. Foodwise it was a good weekend - I was only catering for 2 so i didn't have the array of different cheeses and wasn't doing afternoon tea either - i normally have some kind of treat ready for the boys when they 'come back from the war' in the afternoon - in the past it's been fig pastries, blackberry and apple cakes and apple and parsnip fritters. They have to be stripped down (steady on girls) and made to sit for half an hour with some water and something to eat or they tend to collapse within a couple of hours. I can now strip a fully armoured knight in under 3 minutes . . . . .

Efrieze, thats a terrific loss - v impressed!
  • REMINDER FOR EVERYONE ABOUT THE SWAP BOXES!!

I stole this idea from Nigella.com because I like sending and recieving parcels and everyone is so nice on here that they all deserve to get presents. If you want to play, follow the instructions . . . .

Please pm me with your real name and postal address by 300907. I'll then turn this into a chain and send you the details of your swappee. I promise to only send your address to one person and nothing else! The person you send to isn't the person you are receiving from. Then, you have a budget of £7.50. Please try and stick to it. Then all you have to do is put your box together and post it so that it arrives to be opened on 311007. Remember to include a card so your swappee knows who it's from! If your box arrives before then you are not allowed to open it - the idea is that we all open them 'together' on October 31 and then you can post about what you got. You can put anything you like in your box, but NOT CHOCOLATE!!!! Also remember that your swappee may be a vegetarian so unless you're sure I wouldn't send them £7.50's worth of spam - the postage would be crippling anyway . . . . Use your swappees username to look at their posts and find out the kind of thing he/she might like, or they may want to give you hints about allergies and other such things like the colour of their kitchen or something.

    Any questions, please pm me.

    Hi all,

Lost another ¼lb this week - so slightly further under the stonage marker :D

Treated myself today in Tesco (payday today) - new skirt £15 and some frozen cherries to go on my porridge :D Well I deserved a treat for getting into the next stonage marker - took 12 lbs to get there and now I've lost 12 ¼ lbs and some of my clothes are too big ;)

Have yet to try on the skirt though - kinda hoping it'll be a generous size so I'll have to buy the size smaller :rotfl:
working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?

Serendis, I love your lists thing and your anaysis. You studied psychology at all?

Skinny Catt, it's great that your OH is joining the wagon at the same time as you, and even better that you are following the same plan. Having been there in that same situation, I'd like to suggest something to you, and hopefully it won't come across as patronising :o .
Unless you both get exactly the same results (how likely is that? ), then it's obvious that one of you will get better results than the other even though you are doing the same things. In the case of MrsA and me, the one getting better results was me, and after a while I could see that although it didn't grate with MrsA as such, it was frustrating and a bit annoying for her. I gave it the old "Come on, chin up, you can do it too" for a couple of nights then it hit me (while I was asleep one night actually) like a baseball bat around the head what a huge mistake I was making - that's not life!!! Not everyone will necessarily get the same results from the same sacrifices, and a person can only proceed at their own speed. Progressing at someone else's speed is as unnatural as it is difficult. Now then, the whole point ("finally", you say) It's important for the 'slower' partner to realise that that's simply how it is. Deal with it. It's not a bad thing, and it's certainly nothing personal. However, it's even more important for the 'faster' partner to take it on board and drop the whole weight thing completely. I went from saying stuff like "Wonder how well we'll do at fat club if we walk every night this week" to instead "I fancy a walk, come on, it's nice weather". Whichever one of you gets the best results has to be a partner, not a paragon.

    Sorry that was so long

Might be time to update my slide show soon - perhaps when I exceed 6 stone loss...if I can get a good picture taken (with my daughter again of course, wouldn't want to miss her out!)
