Dragon 3lbs off!.... all I can say is....Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0

The heating thing wouldn't be quite so annoying if it wasn't the end of the month with only just (is there a fingers crossed smiley?) enough electric on the meter to last till payday - costs £1 a bath to heat the water on electric instead  If we do that for 4 days then there's nothing left to light the flat, cook tea or boil a kettle  At least the £5 on the gas card should last now
I've lodged a complaint about the fact they never told me I'd have to be in for 24 hours and the fact that now we have 2 kids and have to wait up to 5 days for the contractor to sort it out. If it's not done by Friday then I'll be livid
newlywed - how about this one?. I know how you feel about the end of the month. I get paid next week and have very little left for groceries etc. this week. Thankfully my electric is on DD so if my heating bombs out I can use an electric heater until I have the money to get my boiler fixed. oh, I also have an open fire and a wee man delivers turf/coal & blocks once a week for a very reasonable amount, so if all else fails, I can light the fire. DS has the warmest bedroom in the house (for just that reason) and I have enough hot water bottles to keep us all warm in bed.
I guess you need to break out the duvets, block up all the drafts and hope that the gas men get out sooner rather than later! Good luck.Goal for 09: Get fit and foxy. target weight 11st. 5/80.Get out of dead end job and work for career I always wanted.0 -

I get paid on 25th but it takes 2 days to clear sothat's Friday overnight and not Monday
Just had to borrow a tenner to get milk and bread for the week. Food is whatever is in the freezer now
As for open fires - bit of a problem living in a flat with no chimneys - but I suppose we could try and set light to the shed and see what happens :rotfl:working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
Yae, go Dragon, go Dragon!:T
Good advice about the gym - sod everyone else, just concentrate on yourself. We could spend our whole lives thinking that someone on the other side of the street/in the supermarket aisle/sat next to us in the coffee shop is looking at us and judging us (some days it can feel like everyone is) but at the end of the day it is their problem not yours. You are doing something fantastic for yourself and you should feel proud to walk through those gym doors - go on, try it! And to throw aside my halo for a minute... next time you're there, check out how many people are just flouncing around wearing make-up without a shred of sweat in sight - they're the people who have no right to be there
Newlywed, I think you need one of these :grouphug: for the comfort and the warmth! Keep smilingThe 1,000 Day Challenge:Feb 16, 2016500/30,000

Very nice delly, but in view of poor newlywed's situation I think a bigger one's neededI hope you soon get everything sorted out newly, it's a horrible situstion to be in especially now that the weather is turning colder and with little ones too, crumbs!! Actually, have you told the repair Co. that you have young children as some firms will give you priority; just a thought...
...Well done Dragon 3lbs!!!:T :T ...
xxxxI wish that I could be the oldest AND wisest....sadly it's not the latterbut my time will come _party_ wooooh hoooh! Beware!!!!!!!

Thanks everyone. Yeah told them we have kids (they ain't that little though 9 and 12). They said well to log it as emergency I have to be at home for the next 24 hours - but I'm at work  Complained that 5 days was too long and they said well it's "up to" so may not take that long - yeah right
Other comments were met with "shall I send you a complaints form?" I sent them a suitably stroppy complaint email as if they'd just said I had to be there for 24 hours I'd have rung the boss up, but they never said just said expect a phone call  Complained that not everyone in Housing Association accommodation is unemployed and even those who don't work may have to go out at some point to drop kids off etc so they should have TOLD ME!!!! Also said that 5 days is too long to be expected to wait with 2 kids and the colder weather.
Don't expect anything much though. OH complained about another repair taking 2 weeks longer than their time limits and having to take 4 days off and the leak causing damage to hallway floor and got a total of ... £50 for the hallway carpet - uh huh.
Bails - that just looks rude!working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -
go dragon!
I'm having a good day too bails, being v virtuous and also planning next weeks meals to be virtuous then too. Glad to see parcels arriving thick and fast now - there are 13 peeps out there who put their names down and 12 of them have been on the boards in the last few days so this is veryencouraging!
newlywed - i really hope you get your heating sorted out. I am now into my FIFTH week without heating or hot water and it is really starting to get me down. my plumber just keeps telling me he's too busy!0 -

Hope yours gets sorted - can you find another plumber? - at least with Housing Assoc, they have a time line when they aim to complete repairs by.working on clearing the clutterDo I want the stuff or the space?0 -

Thanks Katie!
Re your heating - would it be worth saying to the plumber that for every day from now on in that he is late sorting your heating out you will deduct £10.00 from his bill (and you want that itemised!) for the stress he has caused you?Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup
